*Rock n Roll is renowned for its simplicity and their looks certainly played into their popularity. Most film stars are popular based on their looks and acting abilities. It's just how human nature works. Okay, The Beatles embellished their music with 'weird' and experimental things, but so did many around that time. The Beatles are far from being sacrosanct, they were four musicians from England who luckily became famous. Yoko does have a point, though, but she can't be dismissed just because she's Yoko Ono. Unfortunately, she's at a hiding to nothing regardless of what she says*
She thinks the Beatles' music is 'simplistic', because she is a pseudo-intellectual snob. Her own attempts at art are all exploits of the Emperor's new clothes principle.
From my perspective, the seeds of the breakup were planted in March 1966 when John gave that interview allegedly claiming that The Beatles were more popular than Jesus. Whether anyone agreed or disagreed is irrelevant. It set up a chain reaction event which culminated in the Beatles decision to quit touring following their concert in San Francisco on August 29th 1966 at Candlestick Park. This devastated their manager Brian Epstien and led to his death just under a year later. Brian was like their big brother and the voice of reason. Without him all they had was each other. Yoko was just a symptom. They were going to break up regardless of whether she was there or not. There were other factors Allen Klein and so forth.

I think you're reading into her expressions a little too much, pal. Besides, if you're going to dig deep, then you're forgetting the cultural boundary. Japanese people, especially back then, weren't so outward with their emotions, especially when surrounded by people who were. I also watched the Getback documentary, and she didn't strike me as some demoness trying to break up the band. Most of the time, she just quietly minded her own business, did she not? If anybody was responsible for the breakup of the group, it's all four of them who wanted to go their separate ways. Moreso, John.
@Ianspiegel With respect to your insightful comment, I stand by mine. Literally, EVERYONE on that rooftop and beyond, are cheering and clapping. Including the 2 people sitting next to Yoko, Maureen Starkey and Chris O'Dell. No one, including me, is saying she's an evil force. But regarding Yoko, the evidence speaks for itself. She was disinterested in their music and thought very little of it. That's not even debatable. As years passed, she changed her POV.
Also, the Get Back documentary was edited intentionally to place her in a better light. The original Let It Be film, and extant audio outtakes, show her in a completely different light: she was 100% intrusive. Irrespective whether John wanted her there or not. It speaks for itself.
@Ianspiegel Hey pal, she was the literally the opposite of "just quietly mind[ing] her own business." Watch Let It Be and listen to ALL the available audio outtakes. Then we'll resume this thread.
@BeatlesCentricUniverse Sounds like you made up your mind quite some time ago, but once again, I think you're investing too much of your opinion into facial expressions. What I was saying regarding Japanese people -especially fifty years ago- is that they would most likely feel awkward about outwardly expressing their emotions when other people around them were doing so. So you then go back to the people surrounding her expressing themselves, because...why, exactly? You keep saying it "speaks volumes" but you're yet to prove your point as to why. Everyone knows she wasn't into their music; she was never a fan, and found their material too simplistic. She never denied that. That also doesn't mean she championed their breakup, though. So I fail to understand where you're going with that, if I'm honest. Besides her facial expressions being the "evidence that speaks for itself", of course.

She is the perfect epitome of those failed artists who relies mostly on a false and demonstrative complexity, and yet she can't sing, she can't create anything good or valuable herself. The art schools are full of those so called artists, and at the best they become movie critics. Because the only way for them to survive is to critic the real artists. No, the Beatles music wasn't "simplistic", it was not 1, 2, 3, 4. To the contrary, they were to first band to have a number one hit with a 7/4 (all you need is love) and try many 3/4 beat for many of their songs. They were experimentals way beyond and before her. Lennon came from an art school and was very keen to be fascinated and manipulated by that kind of hack.
Yoko did not break up the Beatles, they reached the point in their lives, growth, wanted to separate move into solo works, they were married, had families, it was time, and yoko in the studios was of no consequence it disrupted a little , dingo had no problem with yoko, George was George, Paul had his opinions at that time , but all was okay they were growing, some disagreements but that was part of their growth, they always loved each other , Brothers Forever ! !
Yoko was not the reason the Beatles broke up. They had come full circle and needed their own space. The studio was becoming increasingly fractious, with John wanting to experiment and move in the direction of avant garde, while Paul wanted to stay commercial and became increasingly controlling. If you want to blame an individual for the break up, that would have to be the "soft shoe shuffler" Alan Klein. If it wasn't for his greed and manipulation, maybe the Beatles could have continued in some form. But as Klein tried to suck the Beatles dry, as he had already done with the Stones, Paul said enough was enough, and legally dissolved the partnership, thus ending the Beatles.
For the umptwelfth time... Of course she did. Yes, she made John to do it himself, just like Meghan Markle made Harry to break up with his family. That's what manipulative partners do. They isolate you from your friends and family (by convincing you you have to do it yourself) to have you 100 % under their thumb. Then they'll take you as far away from your old life as possible. They must be your only "support" system. Break up with this really time consuming and inseparable band of yours and move over to New York (Yoko). Break up with this extremely cohesive and tightly hierarchical family of yours and move over to California (Meghan). See the pattern? Yoko was a mastermind in manipulation, as anyone who knows the first thing about her life and has a shred of life experience would know.
She mentions the song being “a little bit too simplistic, you know.. the chords ..and the beat being the same”. Yet her own style of vocals is just the same screaming and screeching. In that regard I dont think she is well placed to to criticise.
Yoko Ono Lennon will be 91 early next year. Peace & Love, Yoko ... enjoy your golden years on the Upstate N.Y. farm you and your late husband John Lennon purchased years ago 🌏☮️
She’s full of shit. She went after Paul first. And before that she was in New York going after other famous musicians. Bob Dylan tried to warnLennon about her, but he didn’t listen because he was tripping high drunk etc.
*She moved in circles that were experimental and had nothing to do with popular culture. Just because The Beatles were world famous, doesn't mean that everyone on the planet was aware of them. She was Avant-Garde (and despised)*
@@sexobscura One of the only comments you've made on this video that even makes sense. But Yoko was VERY aware of them. She STALKED Mr. Paul McCartney first. FACT.
Yoko came along when the Beatles were already breaking up. Her presence just sped up their split. It didn’t help that John wanted her with him ALL the time.
Typical Japanese woman not only very controlling but also too egotistic who wanna date Japanese women nowadays vs latinas or even Filipinas better right 🥰
She first destroyed John Lennon's family and then The Beatles! What an artist who ruins many of Lennon's concerts with her screams! Then not not only imposed herself with her presence in the studio, but also wanted to be involved in the music of The Beatles and even took courage to express critically about some of The Beatles' musical works!
The idea that Yoko Ono would sit there trying to pretend to be talented enough to ACTUALLY ANALIZE THE BEATLES IS A JOKE!!!!!!!!!!! NO YOKO, SCREAMING INTO A MIC IN THE MIDDLE OF A SONG IS NOT ART. IT'S SHIT!!!!
Simplistic???!!! Who the hell is she to evaluate the music of the Beatles?! Where is her music, apart from her ridiculous so-called avant-garde art? Let’s hear it.
Who the hell is she? She's an incredibly accomplished classically trained pianist so she knows what she's talking about when it comes to music. Her screaming nonsense is not my cup of tea but the woman knows music.
@@mrfester42 “Incredibly accomplished classicaly trained pianist”? How many piano solo concerts has she given? How many albums of classical piano music has she recorded?
@@highl54 You're reasoning is as flawed as it gets! Playing solo concerts and recording albums is not the measure of musicianship. My brothers friend, who I have known for almost 50 years, is an unbelievably accomplished jazz guitarist who was trained by Joe Pass and became close friends with him. He has never recorded an album or played publicly. I'm a musician myself and have heard him play many times. He often played with Joe Pass privately in his home. He was good enough to play with one of the best jazz guitarists who ever lived yet he was not a professional musician although Joe tried to get him to make his living with music. He loves music and plays privately and sometimes sits in when some of the greats play in small clubs in NYC. He's never been interested in making a living as a musician yet he can play with any of the greats. He is a highly successful advertising executive on Madison Ave in NYC.
After watching the documentary "The Lost Weekend" I can confirm that Yoko Ono is a very bad person, she basically broke up with the Beatles, she cut off calls from Sean to John and never told John that he had called him, she manipulated him in every way. she even wanted them to live in Dakota, because of her the Beatles do not exist and because of her John is dead
I never could buy the rumor that yoko ono was the reason the Beatles broke up. She is an easy target. They broke up because it was time .just look at the catalog of music films, etc, they produced. Their work has stood the test of time decade after decade . Yoko was just johns wife, and being an eccentric genius, he needed yoko to stand with him . I think Yoko Ono is a cool woman. I like her, and I'm grateful she was part of the Beatles story. ♥

I don’t think 🤔 any of the other Beatle Members liked her. I don’t think 🤔 she is to blame for The Beatles breaking up, did she help the band break up faster? Most likely, but they all had different things that they wanted to do. I don’t think 🤔 she was a good influence for John, and if she didn’t like 👍 the Beatles then she should have kept her mouth 👄 shut and not said a word about it. I think at the end of the day she was one ☝️ of the many contributing factors as to why they broke up. Point. Blank. Period.
One should keep in mind that 1970 and those close joining years were the peak drug taking years. They were obviously other circumstances to why the group broke up, one of the other reasons was they knew by then (1970) that they were millionaires . They all seemed to want to do other solo artistic things after being together as a group for almost 10 years.
Lennon's dream gig was playing with Chuck Berry and there he was, playing with Chuck on the Merv Griffin show with Yoko on the stage. Out of nowhere Yoko breaks out shrieking - not the way Berry wrote the song and worse, not musical. Berry does a WTH double take while Lennon just pretends nothing's going on. She didn't break up the Beatles but her level of self regard for her artistic "talent" was boundless.
After watching the Peter Jackson’s documentary it was quite clear yoko had nothing to do with the split. George quit first then it was over after that.
you do realize that she had final approval and the most critical remarks by the group about how much of a problem she was were cut out? right? you can hear them blaming her on the Nagra reels. also, George quit because john had elevated her to his creative equal and still treated George as a second rate talent? You do further realize that Paul stated during the sessions that SHE was the reason he no longer wrote with John, right? and do you further realize that SHE was the reason John hired Alan Klein despite Pauls objections? Right? you do realize she had all the calls to their apartment rerouted to her office so john wouldnt know when friends were calling, right? do you know she escaped from a mental hospital before she went to england and started stalking musicians to support her? she has used lawyers to keep the truth from getting out and the Get Back doc was quite white washed, right???

That's not true. The Beatles were broken before Yoko came along. No matter how close your friends were in high school, once you become an adult you won't be able to spend 24 hours together!

Yoko was a cancer to the Beatles. As a professional musician I can say from experience that having girlfriends, wife’s, husband’s or even friends come to rehearsals or recording sessions is never a good idea, it’s extremely distracting during a creative process.
Yoko Ono couldnt find her ass with both hands in the artistic or musical sense. Her only talents, (and in abundance) were those for emotional manipulation, self-promotion, and an astute sense of business.
Does Yoko and PAul still get paid or perks EVERYTIME they Mention John's name? He was supposedly homesick for England and planning on a trip/move back there, and a divorce from the self-admitted WITCH.
Ringo Star said it was her fault (2024!)Ringo said he hates her!!She Broke up the Beatles! She seen John and Cynthia would be going somewhere she would jump in the car right between john and Cynthia. she broke up John and Cynthia marriage!!
*Even if he did say it, how can ONE WOMAN make them disband. Ringo was the quiet, diplomatic one of the group. Post the remark if he said it, but I doubt he ever did*
Yoko was from a wealthy family. She never had to work, she played "artist". She is a master manipulator. Notice how she boasts of attending Sarah Lawrence and they were jazz fans there. She criticizes Paul's song that he intentionally wrote to be simple and fun by looking down her nose while calling it "simplistic". Every complement from her is backhanded. She likes to make people feel bad about themselves while pretending to be "Miss Positivity". John was insecure and raised by a harsh critic - she sensed this weaknesses immediately and exploited them. The Beatles broke up because they lost John - to mental illness, drugs and Yoko.
Ironically, the songs Lennon did after the Beatles were not less "simplistic" but, perhaps, even more "simplistic". What Ono thought about those songs? Was she angry for that?
Yoko wasn’t really aware of the Beatles but met paul before John… pure luck As far as the rest of the interview and her view on their music …What a load of pretentious bollocks
kupamon People say it's misogyny and racism. I submit there are literally hundreds of reasons to hate her that have nothing to do with misogyny and racism.
One of Yokos early pieces of artwork was a board and the viewer was invited to hammer a nail into it. I wonder if when Yoko did this she accidentally hit her thumb, and so her unique singing style was born
Yoko was a baddie! Back in the day when women were supposed to stay in the kitchen and serve their man, she was in the studio with The freaking Beatles making weird sounds on Bungalow Bill! Legend!
So music that brings happiness to you is simplistic. Several supposed to rise like a gender, leaning songs that aren’t fun to listen to like I hate this song imagine I have not ever listen that song ever it’s a boring song where is yellow submarine is full of lyrical, imagery, and musical imagery.
I have only heard some of the Genius that is the musical phenomenon Yoko. To be fair she is a lot better than Ross from Friends and i do like her hand clapping. Her singing is brilliant if you are a deaf cat and her words would put shakespear to shame.
So unbelievable that this woman claimed in 1967 to 'Never heard of Beatles'!! Who is she kidding? Even a mediating monk in Nepal heard about the Beatles in the 60s!!! She didn't work with the beatles, she was glued to John's hip.
shes a fucn liar, interview with Paul - he said he met her 1st she showed up at his house and she tried to get together with Paul. she found out Paul was in a relationship and she hunted John down, PAUL SAID THIS, and she says "ooh I didnt know who the Beatles were" fucn liar!
Yes thank you! She's a liar, and worse. The Beatles were gigantic. Also, Yoko conveniently neglects to mention she stalked a certain Beatle named Paul McCartney first. STALKED is the correct word.
This person is uninteresting. NOBODY, absolutely NOBODY would be interested in her if she wasn't John Lennon's widow. She pushed herself into the spotlight alongside John because she wanted to be famous. The Beatles' "simple" lyrics and melodies are world heritage, while Yoko only has a few idiotic "installations" to show for it.
Yup her social interaction via John did break up the Beatles, she drew John away from the group . LOVE can make men do odd unexpected things. She also broke up the marriage that John had with Cynthia who she knew very well he was married . He was first attracted to her art she made, then that interest got them personally involved into a sexual affair, she was Asian and had big boobs, I think John wanted to try her out so to speak. Quite different from his non artist white woman he married.
Didn't Paul admit on the Howard Stern show that Yoko was just "one of the birds" that got passed around the Beatles during their early fame...and then Lennon fell in love with her? So much about her feels like a lie. A revision. She wrecked the Beatles. She was awful with Julian. She's made so much about her.
She wasn't the only reason the Beatles split, but she was one of the reasons. What I know of her, I don't like her. But what I think of her doesn't matter. Maybe if Brian Epstein had lived, he could have kept the Beatles together. When the Beatles began Apple Corps Ltd., they needed a person like Brian who they loved and respected to help them. Allen Klein created a rift between Paul and the other Beatles.
"Working" with the Beatles? NO ONE wanted her there except John.
Working to make sure John was supplied
In fairness to Yoko, she never really implies she worked with The Beatles, in fact she implies quite clearly that she worked with just John.

This has to be said: her constant presence at the band's rehearsals and recording sessions was an imposition by John, not hers.

She did contribute to it
For the umpteenth time...Yoko Ono did not break up the Beatles. They all went their
Separate way.
Lennon used her to break up the Beatles
Yoko Ono introduced how to snort heroin to John Lennon in 1968. It would estrange him further from other three Beatles.
Her contribution to Chuck Berry and Lennon singing together, (until her mic. got cut), masterful! No autotune back then, just raw talent. lol

Most likely, but they all had different things that they wanted to do. I don’t think 🤔 she was a good influence for John, and if she didn’t like 👍 the Beatles then she should have kept her mouth 👄 shut and not said a word about it. John loved her deeply. THAT should be enough for us.
Lennon loved her.
Her son is a sensible, good man.
All else is nothing.
*Correct. Although being a millionaire (or money in general) has nothing to do with being a creative unit*

Yoko Ono was horribly bullied by the mainstream media.

Yoko Ono couldnt find her ass with both hands in the artistic or musical sense. Her only talents, (and in abundance) were those for emotional manipulation, self-promotion, and an astute sense of business.
Does Yoko and PAul still get paid or perks EVERYTIME they Mention John's name?
He was supposedly homesick for England and planning on a trip/move back there, and a divorce from the self-admitted WITCH.
A royal pain in the A and instrumental in successful manipulating an emotionally weak man in John Lennon. Ask Julian Lennon.

Yes, exactly. She's a manipulative woman
Nonsense. Ringo NEVER said that.
For goodness sake Yoko....put your glasses on properly.
