      Yoko ended up prospering by meeting John, but the end of the day it came down to John. It was up to him to read the room allowing her to sit in on recording sessions and it was up to him how much effort he wanted to put into The Beatles. What I can say from experience is how when spouses get involved with family wills and business deals. Nobody really likes an "outsider" having a say but John entrusted her to speak for him and be his partner, not only in his personal life but in his business as well. The relationship between John, Yoko and Julian also speaks volumes.

    Yoko was not the reason the Beatles broke up. They had come full circle and needed their own space. The studio was becoming increasingly fractious, with John wanting to experiment and move in the direction of avant garde, while Paul wanted to stay commercial and became increasingly controlling. If you want to blame an individual for the break up, that would have to be the "soft shoe shuffler" Alan Klein. If it wasn't for his greed and manipulation, maybe the Beatles could have continued in some form. But as Klein tried to suck the Beatles dry, as he had already done with the Stones, Paul said enough was enough, and legally dissolved the partnership, thus ending the Beatles.

    She did make one very important point. They *were* all trying to break out of the mould that they were content to maintain for 8 years. George wanted to start writing, Ringo wanted to start writing, Paul and John were trying harder to establish their personal vision for certain songs instead of relying on the collaboration. You can see it all happening in “Get Back”. And it was a natural evolution for 4 artists with so much success in such a short period of time, and, we were the better for it (eventually) with the amazing music they continued to make as individuals.
    We all would have preferred to see what would have happened if they had stayed together, but I don’t think that hypothetical dream outweighs the continued contributions to popular music they all had.

It's just how human nature works. Okay, The Beatles embellished their music with 'weird' and experimental things, but so did many around that time. The Beatles are far from being sacrosanct, they were four musicians from England who luckily became famous. Yoko does have a point, though, but she can't be dismissed just because she's Yoko Ono. Lennon's dream gig was playing with Chuck Berry and there he was, playing with Chuck on the Merv Griffin show with Yoko on the stage. Out of nowhere Yoko breaks out shrieking - not the way Berry wrote the song and worse, not musical. Berry does a WTH double take while Lennon just pretends nothing's going on. She didn't break up the Beatles but her level of self regard for her artistic "talent" was boundless.

    The truth about the Lennon-McCartney name order is that originally, the person who was the main writer would have his name first. I have seen copies of early releases in which a Paul song was McCartney-Lennon. John went to Brian and manipulated him into making every future song Lennon-McCartney. They did that without consulting Paul at all, and it probably always bothered him.
    Yoko has no right to speak about this since she was not there when it happened and only has John's extremely unreliable word on what took place and Paul's reason for wanting to restore the name's to the origanal arrangement.

    Yoko had a negative impact on John and she has been publically deceptive about the events that played out for 60 years. She absolutely knew who the Beatles were like everyone else on the planet and went to see Paul FIRST believing that he was the easy one. Turns out it was John. Aside from that she’s said for 60 years that she met John “as a person” in his multi million dollar house? She just stumbled upon John? Get real. She was a fan then looked the boys up and found Paul and John then John was taken with her and she went with the lie that she didn’t know who he was which is completely absurd. Yoko criticizing their music is like Hobo Joe critiquing the technique of red belts in jiu jitsu. She can say whatever she wants to but she isolated John from his family (his son specifically) and took every aspect of his life over. She still runs Apple and tried her damndest to keep a penny from Julian. Why in the world would she keep money from Julian? He’s a single person and the only other son John had but she didn’t care about Julian whatsoever and there’s no reason she would do this other than not actually caring about John. If she would have been the one and John would have survived do you think he would have kept money from Yoko’s daughter or Sean? Not hardly. If only he had stayed with May Pang.

I do believe that yokos presence in the studio was causing a lot of tension on the band but they were already falling apart way before that. TO NAME A FEW: Brian Epsteins unexpected passing, Paul was too controlling (i understand this was cause he didnt want them to split but imo he didn’t handle it properly), CREATIVE DIFFERENCES, John didnt care as much as he did before, and George was just fed up with not being taken seriously/ overshadowed (FFS SO MANY SONGS ON ATMP WERE SONGS HE HAD WRITTEN FOR THE BAND THAT WERE REJECTED), Allen Klein wasn’t an efficient manger for them. SO MANY FACTORS leading up to their breakup. It takes a quick search to learn all of this and yet you people still continue to place all the blame on Yoko and her weirdness. Stop using her as a scapegoat and just fucking accept the fact that the Beatles were going to breakup anyways and be thankful that they didnt end with shitty half assed album AND that all of their albums were good. They isolate you from your friends and family (by convincing you you have to do it yourself) to have you 100 % under their thumb. Then they'll take you as far away from your old life as possible. They must be your only "support" system. Break up with this really time consuming and inseparable band of yours and move over to New York (Yoko). Break up with this extremely cohesive and tightly hierarchical family of yours and move over to California (Meghan). See the pattern? From my perspective, the seeds of the breakup were planted in March 1966 when John gave that interview allegedly claiming that The Beatles were more popular than Jesus. Whether anyone agreed or disagreed is irrelevant. It set up a chain reaction event which culminated in the Beatles decision to quit touring following their concert in San Francisco on August 29th 1966 at Candlestick Park. This devastated their manager Brian Epstien and led to his death just under a year later. Brian was like their big brother and the voice of reason. Without him all they had was each other. Yoko was just a symptom. They were going to break up regardless of whether she was there or not. There were other factors Allen Klein and so forth.

They started playing separately, John was late, George was creatively stifled and Paul was a workaholic who had more work to do but the group was no longer keeping up with him. I think you're reading into her expressions a little too much, pal. Besides, if you're going to dig deep, then you're forgetting the cultural boundary. Japanese people, especially back then, weren't so outward with their emotions, especially when surrounded by people who were. I also watched the Getback documentary, and she didn't strike me as some demoness trying to break up the band. Most of the time, she just quietly minded her own business, did she not? If anybody was responsible for the breakup of the group, it's all four of them who wanted to go their separate ways. Moreso, John.

      @Ianspiegel With respect to your insightful comment, I stand by mine. Literally, EVERYONE on that rooftop and beyond, are cheering and clapping. Including the 2 people sitting next to Yoko, Maureen Starkey and Chris O'Dell. No one, including me, is saying she's an evil force. But regarding Yoko, the evidence speaks for itself. • @BeatlesCentricUniverse
      @BeatlesCentricUniverse 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Also, the Get Back documentary was edited intentionally to place her in a better light. The original Let It Be film, and extant audio outtakes, show her in a completely different light: she was 100% intrusive. Irrespective whether John wanted her there or not. It speaks for itself.

      @Ianspiegel 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @BeatlesCentricUniverse Sounds like you made up your mind quite some time ago, but once again, I think you're investing too much of your opinion into facial expressions. What I was saying regarding Japanese people -especially fifty years ago- is that they would most likely feel awkward about outwardly expressing their emotions when other people around them were doing so. So you then go back to the people surrounding her expressing themselves, because...why, exactly? You keep saying it "speaks volumes" but you're yet to prove your point as to why. Everyone knows she wasn't into their music; she was never a fan, and found their material too simplistic. She never denied that. That also doesn't mean she championed their breakup, though. So I fail to understand where you're going with that, if I'm honest. Besides her facial expressions being the "evidence that speaks for itself", of course.

She criticizes Paul's song that he intentionally wrote to be simple and fun by looking down her nose while calling it "simplistic". Every complement from her is backhanded. She likes to make people feel bad about themselves while pretending to be "Miss Positivity". John was insecure and raised by a harsh critic - she sensed this weaknesses immediately and exploited them. The Beatles broke up because they lost John - to mental illness, drugs and Yoko.

    Something else that I think is overlooked about John & Yoko is the fact that she was 37 when she first met 27 year old John. There's a 10 year age difference between them, which is just plain weird to me. John was still a "kid" in a sense and here he is with this near middle aged woman letting her control his life- I can't attack her for anything really, because in the end John was in love with her and wouldn't have it any other way- but there is a hint of grooming involved there I think with their relationship initally

      Seriously? A 27 year old strong headed man who had already been married was groomed by by a 34 year old? (she was born in 33, him 40) God the ridiculous pains people go to vilify yoko ... but this one takes the cake

      John was born in 40. Yoko in 33. Your maths are off a little.

    From a young age, Lennon wanted not only to perform, but also to shock the audience. As he grew older, this desire only grew in him. His first wife wanted him to lead a calm, measured life. Meeting with Yoko is a meeting of two kindred spirits. Then they began to work together on what they loved most in life - outrageous. Life in plain sight, loud statements, press conferences lying in bed, slogans, marches in columns. As a result, John's name became a household name. He was perceived by everyone as an extravagant star from the TV screen. This was the reason for his murder at the hands of an abnormal person. Unfortunately, this was predetermined in his life. His life with Yoko Ono was coming to this end. The psycho wanted to kill George too. He was very lucky with his last wife.

    People grow and want change, so it's normal for them to want to split. I definitely think she was one of the factors in them splitting, but what bothers me is john abandoning his first son. And as a woman, she should've encouraged them to be a family and not go along with the abandonment. I couldn't imagine the feeling of being the child that was left behind

    Journalist:-What do you think 'bout her art, John?
    John Lennon:-Can't see art on it, you know. She can do anything but need my money of course.

    Not hating on this lady, John loved her, the Beatles split at the top of their game as John's wanted.
    But, lets face it, without her r/ship with lennon, no-one would have heard of this great artist 😅

    I think the other Beatles considered Yoko as the reason to move on. Their style was already progressing beyond 80's pop and I think they would have disbanded anyway. If Paul, George or Ringo truly suffered from the break-up I don't know but to me that seems unlikely.
