    Thank you for this. I’m a type 2 diabetic that just started using the Freestyle Libre within the past couple of months, so I’m learning to pay more attention to walking through doorways, taking clothes on and off, getting in and out of my vehicle and seatbelt.

    I can't thank you enough for this information. Finding your channel has been such a help for me. My first sensor was on my arm but didn't work. Abbot did replace it. So I can attest to the fact that they will do so. My second one was discovered by my 1 year old granddaughter, while I was holding her. Just her tiny tug on it dislodged it. I was considering placing it on my thigh. However, knowing for a fact, that Abbot will replace problems with ones placed on the arm made me hesitant to place it on my thigh. I've now ordered a trial of the skingrip. I hope that this will be the thing that helps me to be able to keep placing it in my arm. Thank you so much for this information.

    Yes with in hours of it being applied. Whilst changing my top. So the 2nd time my diabetes nurse applied next one more towards the underside of the arm. Wondering why a diabetic nurse applied my sensor. It's because I was trialling the system out. Here in New Zealand it's a fairly new thing and my health professionals needed the data on it, if it was any good, pro & cons that sort of thing. So far it's not funded by Phamac but doctor's here are pushing for it. Cost $87-$100 nzd and last for 14 days.
    Any way on my way home I call into the chemist and purchase a sticky bandage. Very similar to that which is on the sensor. Same material. Cut a generous square shape and applied it over the sensor. Worked a treat. Held on for the whole 14 days.
    Thank you for putting this info out there. I really appreciate it👍

    I use this FL sensor for over 3 years now. Awesome to read your levels as graphs and to augment your control. Customer support of this company has become horrible afther the first year however. I am yearning for competitors & different tech to arrise.
    I exercise (& sweat) daily and I ALMOST NEVER manage to keep this sensor on for a full 2 weeks (adhesive fails or just clumsiness with doorways e.g.). Expensive problem unfortunately. The tips in this video are fair. I confirm: apply dry&clean, always put on extra cover/tape/fixture, look for a spot that doesn't stick out (never in the center of a muscle)...and be aware & carefull. Good luck out there!

    I lose about 50% of my sensors as I exercise or at work !! My belly works better in that sense ,as long as you don't.park in a dense parking lot 😲 On vacation overseas recently , I lost both sensors in the first week !!!Thank God I had my glucometer w/ me !!!!

  • @gn1820
    @gn1820 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I appy Skin Tac and it secures the sensor extremely well and I have not had a sensor fall off. The other thing I do is apply the sensor on my abdomen about an inch or so above my belly button and 2 or so inches to either the left or right of that point (I alternate from one side to the other every 2 weeks). I apply the sensor to my abdomen for two reasons; 1. one rarely bumps into anything that strikes that area thus lowering the risk of knocking it off and 2. it is much easier to apply it in that area as you have both eyes looking down as you apply it and additionally you can apply it with consideral force as both hands are free. You need sufficient force when applying the sensor or else the sensor won't imbed properly and has to be discarded. I lost several sensor by trying to apply them to the back of my arm which I found to be physically awkward and could not get enough force to embed the sensor properly. Also you do not have to awkwardly reach around your body to take a reading. I will add that my readings are accurate with variance from a finger blood test being only +/- 0.3 or so and often with virtually no variance. I am not recommending anything here but rather just relating my experience.

    Great channel! I'm a F.L. (and CGM) newbie, and these tips are awesome! FYI: I found "FixiC" waterproof adhesive patches on Amazon, made specifically for the F.L. sensors, with no adhesive in the center. They were about $17 for a pack of 25. It's a bit awkward to get it on just right, so I had my hubby help. It seems to be adhering nicely; we'll see how it goes. I haven't tried other brands as of yet. Thanks again for your channel! 😊👍

    When I grabbed my purse to take my dogs for a walk I lost a sensor. Five days short that time, and tonight I tried to put one on a new one.
    I guess the Skin Tac I applied wasn't ready set yet because the sensor didn't stick and it made me very sad to lose 14 days of testing (and one hundred dollars), as they're not covered by insurance, and I really like the technology. I think Abbott should redesign so that you can reload it if it doesn't work the first try. You can't just insert it manually without loading it into the apparatus; the filament bends.

    Doorframes are my arch nemesis!
    Thanks for the tips, but previously to watching I'd just applied one an hour or so ago and with it being unusually warm and humid here in the UK it's coming off already :p
    I also have an omnipod that's hanging on for dear life!
    Must say though these sensors really are a life saver, especially for me being type 3c I tend to be very spikey; being able to see where my blood sugar is going lets me be a bit more aggressive with insulin than I otherwise would.
    ps quick tip: I'm sure lots of people do this but when drying your arms after a wash try using a hair dryer, rather than risk pulling the sensor off with a towel.

    Thanks for making your videos to help us T1/T2 Freestyle Libre wearers... I didn't have a problem with wearing the CGM on my arms for about the first four months or so, but now it seems to come out regularly. I do the tips you mention (clean with soap, shave arm area, clean with alcohol, etc.), but it doesn't seem to help much now. Question: have you used the Torbot Skin Tac Liquid by putting it directly on sensor edges (avoiding the needle area) then attaching the sensor, rather than trying to make a "target area" and trying to attach the sensor within it? I don't have good mobility in my arms and putting it onto an exact area would be somewhat difficult. My doctor does not like alternate areas like legs, etc. so that's out. Any suggestions?

    • @TypeOneTalks
      @TypeOneTalks  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have not tried that solution with adhesive you're suggesting but would be curious to hear how it worked out for you. Made a few videos on this topic if you want to check them out. Wishing you all the best!

My third one just stopped working. After 6 days got an error message then told to replace. My forth one tore off last night. The adhesive tape stayed on my arm. I had to s rub it off. When you start th reader with a new captor you are informed that it will be working after 60 minutes. Thanks for such a helpful video! I am from Argentina and my 9yo daughter sweats a lot and the last freestyle only last for 2 days. Can’t use SKIN TAC because she had a skin reaction when we tried them (2 times, horrible rushes). What do you recommend? TIA!!!

      You're so welcome! Not sure if there is an equivalent of skin tac to which he would not have allergic reaction. Sorry I could not help more:( Wishing you a great day!

    Hi Tom, here in the USA and being a new user and I use only an iphone and the Freestyle 14 day app says at the start must wait 1 hour, so I needed to wait the hour for it to warm up it said. Now this is the 14 day unit sold in the USA maybe no need to wait the 24 hr? Great channel!

    • @whatmattersmost6725
      @whatmattersmost6725 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Tom I agree with you that makes good sense. I think the USA unit is encrypted so no other app but Freestyle will work! I do like you idea of waiting the 24 hr but then I loose at least 1 day as these are only a 14 day and I think it's the app and meter that are locked in and not sure if on the 12th day setting the phone date back a day or 2 as well as the meter would work for getting more days from the sensor, maybe Tom that is something you could try with the meter? I think the sensor will last 15 or 16 or 17 days before the battery is dead. I plan on opening my sensor up and see what the battery power is...

      Does it not just sit there for 24hrs until you activate it with regards to the amount if days it works?

      Hi Mike. The Diabox app has been recently having some issues and I am not sure what the calibration status is. I will keep you posted. Just FYI: The Diabox app was just recently removed from Google Play Store. Bubblan is working on an alternative solution as we speak. Hey everyone! New to this. This is a long comment, sorry in advance! Need your thoughts please!!!
    (Btw - I'm in the US)
    1st one was put in by Dr. & on stomach because I don't want people to see it on my upper arm. . It lasted 7 days, accidentally bumped it. Accuracy was pretty good. Then when I put new one on on my stomach it didn't read accurate at all. I kept getting a magnifying glass saying to do finger sticks.
    I don't want to put it on the back of my arm (that is the only area approved by Abbott) because I don't want everyone to see it. When I called Abbott to get a replacement they said the only accurate spot is back of arm & not to wear it anywhere else.
    Waiting on my new sensor. I want to put it on my stomach again (just opposite side - switching sides each new sensor), but don't know why one sensor was accurate & the other one was not at all. For example, my finger sticks would say 90, but the sensor reading would say 70. That's how inaccurate the sensor was on the one I put on. The one I put on, I compared to finger stickd for 3 days & it was so inaccurate.
    Abbott would not even talk about the accuracy/inaccuracy because they want on the back of the arm at all times. Maybe since I did the 2nd sensor myself it wasn't in all the way or was on wrong somehow? But when I went to take it off - it was on there tight & was very sticky.
    What are your thoughts on why my 1st sensor (Dr. put on) read so accurately & my 2nd sensor (I put on) was not accurate at all on my stomach? I literally put it on the same area of the stomach, just opposite side.
    I REALLY want to do it on my thigh. How is the accuracy on the thigh? Who sees accuracy on the thigh?
    Thanks for any help & advice in advance

    This is one of the worse products on the market. These past months I have come accross several defective sensors. All abbott did was to replace them sometimes with other defective sensors. My last prescription were two bad sensors. I had to remove a bad one from my son's harm only to find out the second one was as bad. Impossible to have any reading, just Er messsages. I can't tell you the frustration of having to deal with this issue. Why don't they just issue a recall! I don't understand. Not to mention the fact that they wrongfully claim that the warming time would be 1hour with the 14day sensor. I have to wait 12 hours to be able to make the first reading on a good sensor. Bottom line this is a bad product. I guess you pay for what you get.

    My experience: I have been using the FS Libre for about three (3) years. My first loss was on my first use by bumping into a door. I called Abbott/Libre and they replaced it. My next loss was after about 30 months of freedom from losing a FS Libre sensor. Now the bad part: it is winter and I like to wear long tight shirts when it is cold. Despite being careful I lost, knocked off, or dislodged three (3) consecutive sensors while taking shirts off. The first time I called Abbott Labs and they replaced the sensor ... the next two (2) I just put the sensors into the trash. I intend to buy and try an adhesive from Amazon and would welcome learning which ones are recommended.
