Correct name is Scottish Shortbread Butter Cookies. Recipe should be 1/4 cup of sugar per cup of flour. Also, one tsp of extract per cup of flour. Southerners and African American generally add additional sugar to cakes, cookies, pies, breads, ice tea, kool-aid, etc.... My eldest 102 year-old aunt was taught this recipe from her Scottish/Irish grandmother when she was young in the 1930s. Walker, an imported Scottish brand, still uses the original recipe if you would like to purchase.
Shortbread cookies are not butter cookies There is a distinct difference. One is flavorful and the other is as dry as the Sahara desert 🏜️ and will dang near choke the hell out of you..
