i like the goofy stuff he does, it allows me to learn better because when i remember the goofy stuff i also remember what he was trying to explain before and after then.

Eastern martial art was outlawed in USSR.
People watched pirated fiction movies with karate, ninja, kung fu martial arts and repeated, what was shown on the movie screen and learned from movies just like that! Even though, there were many imagined moves and techniques, that don't exist in the real martial art.
So, there started several underground martial art schools in Soviet Union, again, whose masters learned just from fiction movies. Then, when the Soviet Union became more open for foreigners to visit, came some Chineese martial art masters and masters from the Soviet underground schools fought with them and won. Chineese were surprised by an abundance of unexpected moves and techneeques, that Soviet masters used.
This is an example, that you can not only be affected by movies, but also be educated and come up with a complete new successful teaching, based on the ideas, that they saw in movies.

Audience theory, as I understand, is a collective term of lots of theories.

thanks for the comment. (Blumler and Katz. The Uses of Mass Communication: Current Perspectives on Gratification Research.) This is where I first came across the theory but there is a wealth of information out their on Uses and Gratifications. I try to give references where I can but it can sometimes interrupt the flow a little. This video is meant for GCSE and A level and only an introduction to the theory.
