Your shorts are great! However, I feel like these longer videos could be a game changer. 1) they are great content and 2) they show more of your personality. I feel like people will first be drawn to the coffee content then will stay for you and your personality. Keep up the good work! I have enjoyed your shorts and get dragged into every new video on my feed. To the haters, a home espresso machine trumps Starbucks any day! I love mine at home and can't wait to get a 9Barista for my semi truck.
My husband and I never realized how much the coffee beans made a huge difference! We have a local coffee shop we buy from every week now to use for our espresso! It’s still not as expensive as people may think. Starbucks prices are so high now for a basic grande any flavor iced latte (and they aren’t even that great). I have a latte every day (sometimes 2x). ☕️ So much better homemade!
@@henjic1656I'm not Ethan and it has been a while since you commented this but hopefully this helps. Try to buy from local roasters in your area, they'll be able to get you the freshest beans. If there is a cafe around you like, ask them if you can buy some beans- it's a good way to try before you buy. To start out, if they have a bag labeled "espresso" then that means the roaster is saying "this bean will make a good classic espresso," start with that if they have it and if you like it for your espresso then feel free to try different beans from the same brand. I hope this helps or that you've found a bean you like already!
Just made this with my Breville Barista using dark brown sugar, organic amish cinnamon and sea salt. I cut the measurements in half as I don’t like overly sweet drinks. Also added cold whole milk. SO GOOD. Thank you for your vids. The recipes are very inspiring.
I had this drink in Florida for this first time, and it was so much better than when i had in Kentucky. The Kentucky Starbucks tastes like the cookie like you said.
You probably won’t see this but I love the long videos man. Been watching since the beginning and it’s awesome to see you get more comfortable in front of the camera. Keep up the good work brother!!!
Thanks for showing how to do it with an aeropress! It gets kinda annoying seeing people with their fancy espresso machines having all the fun coffee drinks while we're stuck with more boring stuff.
I mean, these videos should be more accurate. I am working in a Starbucks and after 5 minutes of doing a drink, i can tell it is not "fresh" or pretty anymore. Why? ICE! After a few minutes, the melt of the ice will obviously change the drink, not only the taste but the way it looks. If you worked there you should know this, You should do your drink at home, do some footage, and then go to the Starbucks and do footage in the lobby for example, and then mix the 2 and do the comparison. Also, when you drink your BSSE you don't even mixed, you basically drink milk there. I am not trying to be annoying or anything, sorry if I did xD
I totally agree. And I can guarantee that I’d like the Starbucks better. In NO way does the Starbucks taste like an oatmeal raisin cookie because I LOATHE those cookies but love the Starbucks drink.
Hey Ethan, just a little storytime. A really nice little coffee shop opened up a block away from my University. All their stuff tastes really good, they always purge their steam wands, make expert latte art, etc. My go-to order at this shop is a hot latte with about 2/3 sugars. (teaspoons) However, there’s this one guy who works there who’s CONSTANTLY trying to convince me that I dont need sugar to enjoy my espresso. BUT ITS JUST HOW I LIKE MY COFFEE MAN. I’m kinda scared to buy coffee from the shop now because he’s always telling me I should just take my latte with nothing added, and I have a couple times but I really do prefer some sugar in it, man. 😂 What do I do??
Depends how savage you want to be. You could tell them their espresso isn't that good so you need to drink it with sugar. JK I just wouldn't go there if it bothers you. Kinda bogus tho, just let people drink their joe the way they want to.
I used to only drink coffee with sugar and hated dark chocolate. It just takes a few tries to get used to. I'd give it a few tries and see how it goes if you are serious about it.
i would have never attempted to make this drink at home without seeing this video first. That is definitely a favorite drink of mine and now i can have it at home for fraction of the price. thank you!
Yeah, ever since my family bought their own espresso machine, my love for Starbucks had started dwindling. I grew up going to Starbucks and enjoying the coffee shop ambience, but their coffee is growing weak and milky on me. Funny enough, I did get their newest Cinnamon Caramel Cream Cold Brew and it kind of redeemed them by a little (I’ve never tried cold brew as I was afraid that it would taste too acidic, but since I love caramel in my coffee, I went for it and especially since I don’t feel like going through the effort of figuring out how to make my own cold brew…yet). Otherwise, I can’t wait to go overseas again since the Starbucks in Asian branches are amazing with both their drink and food options 👌 Love your videos as always Ethan! ☕️💜
Wish I had one of those grinders lmao, still using a grinder that mounts on top of my mixer 😅. Great video Ethan, I enjoyed this one! Quick tip, brown sugar is actually one of the most processed sugars. What happens is when sugar cane juice is dehydrated to extract the sugar, you get natural brown coloured sugar. This contains natural molasses as well as the sugar, and the molasses is then removed to make your normal white sugar. Brown sugar is basically when you get white sugar and then add back molasses
Awesome vid, hope to see more comparison vids in the future. One rec would be to have a 3rd party taste it (blind tasting would make it better!). Keep up the good work
Just a quick comment about the 20 mins at Starbucks. My dude .... If you order on the app before you go. You can walk into the store where the drink is already done, grab it and go. I live 1.8 miles away from a starbucks. I'm at Starbucks for 2 mins tops.. and that's including the walking into the store and back to my car. And only go thru the drive thru if when you show up there are no cars there (so almost never). On that note, yeah those people are still tripping. The video was short, and I would still take more then 4 mins to drive there and back. Just wanted to share that by using the app, you can be in and out of Starbucks in no time.
Ive been using a phin filter recently to make coffee at home.. even waiting for the drip from that is faster than going literally to the end of my street and ordering coffee at mcdonalds
Looks great! As a Sbux Store manager and coffee master whoever made your drink didn’t make it right, I can see cinn on the cup and it should’ve been added in the shaker, not as a finishing topping
What coffee roasters do you reccemend in Milwaukee? I've seen you use roasters like Colectivo and Anodyne, but Colectivo's quality is trash and they don't even have roast dates on their packaging anymore. Also, how is Valentine coffee? Thanks, I love watching you videos.
uncut video showing that it's faster to make your own coffee than go to starbucks? In the style of Ethan Chlebowski's 'Faster than' series. That way you can really show the haters that the $1k espresso machine is worth it
Lmaoo I know right. I've noticed A LOT of coffee experts on YT have yellow teeth from alllll the coffee-based drinks they drink. James Hoffman imo starting to really have yellow teeth visible in every video.
This is great, I’m trying to get into coffee as a hobby and I find your videos really informative! I feel like there’s so much to learn and it can be hard to find somewhere to start, but you do a good job explaining everything
make this a new series: starbucks vs. ethan
Already happening. The playlist has been made
yess please
Real
Love it

Hey just re-watching to follow along, how much water did you use for the aeropress? Just wanna make sure I've got my ratio right
100g!

2 tablespoons of brown sugar?? Or teaspoons?
yeah two tablespoons is.. a lot haha
