    2 Thess 2:14 tells us that God has called us to possess the Lord's glory. In the video John Piper said that we will gain this glory when this life comes to an end.
    I suspect that in this verse Paul isn't just thinking about us possessing the Lord's glory after death or after the return of the Lord. In 2 Cor 3:18 Paul says we are being transformed NOW from glory to glory. I think in 2 Thess 2:14 he is probably including our life now when he talks about us possessing the Lord's glory.
    Of course, the degree of glorification after death or the Lord's return will be vastly greater than it is now. But I think in 2 Thess 2:14 Paul is probably referring to something that has already started.

      Read the context and you’ll see what’s he talking about.
      You know when You will obtain the glory of Jesus? At the rapture. When you receive your glorified body. It’s true that Jesus is glorified in us now but you must understand the text in its context. What’s paul talking about here? He talks about a time when the antichrist will rise and will deceive the world for rejecting Jesus Christ. 2 thess 2:9-12. This is the tribulation period. Then he makes a contrast ( BUT WE) verse 13. This salvation of verses 13-14 is salvation from the tribulation / antichrist because the immediate context is the tribulation period and because he even mentions we are called to obtain the glory of Jesus.
      That's the rapture. When we receive our glorified bodies to reach the glory of Jesus.
      (Philippians 3:20-21, 1 cor
      15:51-54, Colossians 3:4, 1 john 3:2.) You still haven’t reached the final state of glorification because that happens at the rapture and that’s what Paul has in mind here.
      If you are saved then you are called for glory. Not to be massacred by the antichrist with unbelievers because in the end, the antichrist is just a tool for God.
      God has a judgement to bring to this wicked world and he will send a strong delusion through the antichrist to those who rejected his truth.

      @@James-vz7rq You have interpreted verses 13-14 all wrong.
      Firstly, the 'but we' in v. 13 is contrasting the chosen and saved-from-sin status of the Thessalonians with the unchosen and unsaved-from-sin status of those who are deceived by the man of lawlessness.
      Secondly, the salvation that Paul is talking about in 2 Thess 2:13 is salvation from sin, not salvation from the tribulation.
      See how in v. 13 he talks about their being saved through 'belief in the truth'. That is a reference to being saved from sin by faith.
      And see also how in v. 14 he partly reiterates v. 13 when he says:
      'He called you to this through our gospel.'
      This call of the gospel is to salvation from sin, not salvation from tribulation. The gospel is a gospel of being saved from sin, not of being saved from the tribulation.
      Thirdly, the Bible knows nothing anyway of Christians being taken up from the earth to avoid the tribulation.
      See, for example, in Matt 24:22 how Jesus says that the length of the tribulation will be cut short because of the elect. This suggests the elect will be on earth at this time.

      @@maxaplin4204 Tell me what’s the Context here? The tribulation period. And he even mentions that the restrainer must leave before the antichrist is revealed and that’s definitely a reference to the the rapture. You’re wrong. You’re not saved from sin until you obtain your glorified/perfect body at the rapture. You can be saved from being a slave to sin but not sin itself until the redemption of your body. You can be also be saved from the tribulation period if you have belief in the truth. The Context IS The tribulation period. God will save you from those 21 judgements if you have believed Jesus. Do you know why the antichrist comes? He comes as a consequence of sin. God gave his son to save the world but the world rejected him. So then God will allow the antichrist to fool the world for rejecting his truth. That’s the Judgement God brings through the antichrist. Paul is really clear here. The contrast is between the unsaved suffering in the tribulation and the saved Christians who are saved from it. I’ll say again, Paul is making a contrast between two groups in this passage. One group was left to suffer the tribulation and antichrist for not believing the truth. ( unbelievers. 2 Thess 2:9-12)
      And the other, (the church) That God chose to save from it and to obtain the glory of Jesus for believing the truth. (The church. 2 thess 13-17) Paul just tells why God chose to save his church from the tribulation. We are saved through sanctification of the Spirit and our belief in the truth. That’s the key to being saved from hell and from the tribulation.
      You will also notice that He never mentions the Thessalonians in the tribulation. Paul only mentions the people who rejected Jesus as suffering in the tribulation period.
      I’m not sure if you know but obtaining the glory of Jesus IS also a reference to the rapture.
      It looks like you’re all messed up. You’re not rightly dividing the word of truth. In matt 24 Jesus is instructing his Jewish disciples who will put their faith in him during the tribulation period. He’s not speaking to his church. The whole context of matt 24 is Jewish.
      Lastly, Jesus does mention that he is preparing a place for us in heaven and will come again to take us to the Fathers house in John 14:1-4 paul reassured this in 1 thess 4:13-17.
      And Yes Jesus did promise to keep his Church FROM the tribulation period in rev 3:10 and 1 thess 1:10. Jesus saves his church from that future wrath to come.

    John Piper is right that there are 2 kinds of call by God. First, there is the general call, which is to all people to come to Christ. And second, there is another call, that we can refer to as an effective or effectual call, that is only to those God chooses for salvation.
    And 2 Thess 2:14 is surely referring to the latter of these.

    A general Call of the Gospel (Good News) goes out to all humanity. But only some from among those who are called, will be justified; and only some from among those who are justified, will be glorified.
    cf. Romans 8:30.

      Rom 8:30 strongly implies that all those called will be justified. And this is what we find also in 1 Cor 1:23-24:
      '. . . but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to the Jews and foolishness to the Gentiles. Yet to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God . . .' (CSB)
      This passage contrasts those who reject the gospel with those who are called and accept Christ as the power and wisdom of God. So the calling in this passage applies only to those who are saved.
      There are two kinds of call by God, one that applies to all people, and another that applies only to those who are saved.
