And, parents are an example of learning how to relax, how to "just" sit and ponder, how to stop and watch, endeavoring not to miss the little details of beauty and inspiration around us. I still remember how hard-working and active my father was. Yet, he would take an evening to sit outside and watch a thunderstorm with me or to belly-flop into the grass and observe the microscopic ecosystems under our noses. He would get library books and quietly read without feeling guilty. We'd watch sunsets together without having to say a word. It was good for him, of course; but, it was a super lesson for us kids who still remember his actions in "inactions." Allow your mind and body to have regular recess out on the playgrounds of your choice!
I'm only 10 minutes in, and I'm loving this podcast. Thank you so much, both of you! God bless!!! I learned to rest and go slower the hard way - both mental/emotional burnouts, and physical chronic pain developed and not disappearing. It's true, our souls are infinite, but our bodies are finite and must be taken care of, this includes *all* the rest we need, not more, not less - of course we'll never be perfect at that either. I'm just trying to add to the encouragement of being okay with resting and finding that a priority, so we can keep going! God bless you all! ❤❤❤
Hi Faith! Thankful for your channel & this particular episode. Learning to sit with God in silence while hand lettering & struggling. This episode has been a great reminder of why I need to ask God to help me learn to sit with Him in silence & listen for His voice. Thanks!
Great interview/ podcast. I too struggle with quiet/pausing/rest, feeling guilty if I’m not listening to an audiobook or podcast when I’m walking, working, even resting. I also agree with him in that my prayer life suffers because I frequently fail to see a direct impact of my prayer. Reading the Bible produces tangible progress that can be tracked. Also loved the line, “parenting is managing the “No” with your kids” (I probably didn’t get that exactly right). I’m often made to feel I’m being selfish if I say no to anything. Great stuff!
Hello, I just read your comment. Would you mind sharing what you were convicted about? I found the video interesting but I wouldn't say it was convicting, so I'm just curious. Thanks. Take care.
I needed to hear this today. I recently left the Catholic Church after really getting into the faith I was raised in. It seemed like there was always something else that I was supposed to be doing in order to help myself and my family and my friends and souls in purgatory. Definitely a works based faith. There is so much that I want to read and learn and they’re just doesn’t seem to be enough hours in the day even though I’m retired. I need to continually remind myself that I am only human. God expects me to do my best and that’s good enough.
Absolutely Brilliant. Loved this Podcast so much. What an Amazing Man to listen to. Faith you were so Blessed to have him as a Professor + We are so Blessed to have you to share ALL the wonderful insights to all things of Theology. It would be fantastic if Dr Kapic could be on another Podcast with you in the future. God Bless You you Both 🙏🌈
Hi Faith, Thank you for this podcast. I can certainly see why you’re still a fan of this professor. Due to health issues that I’ve been battling for years, the two books that y’all talked about could be of help to me so I’m planning on getting those two books. I will also be checking out other resources that y’all discussed. God bless, Janet
Janet I just wanted to take a moment to pray for you, Father God, I thank you for my sister Janet. Lord God, may you pour out healing and strength over her Lord, God I pray that you would bring a full restoration to her health in The Name Of Jesus Christ. May she be comforted and feel Your Mighty Love over her daily! In Jesus Name, Amen!!! ❤❤❤❤
I love this guy! I'm sitting here crocheting while talking about this. I have struggled with resting for a majority of my life. But it has greatly affected my mental health. Small practices like crocheting while listening to Biblical themed videos.
Wow!! That was amazing!! He said so many things I resonated with and needed to hear. ❤ you're both doing great work!! I bought the book for new theologians like 2 years ago when I started watching you. Now I need to grab the other 2. ❤
Oh man, this was great, especially when it comes to trying to silence the enemies voice and remind ourselves of God's promises through the condemnation and guilt.
I absolutely loved this podcast.. its only my 2nd time listening to your podcasts, Faith, and this one was very eye opening, convicting and comforting ❤
I can't believe how much this is resonating with me! I'll be to the point that as the microwave is counting down I'm trying to use those last 13 secs to get something in just to be productive! I HAVE TO GET THIS BOOK!!
The young man that Kelly referenced that he would sit for 25 minutes letting the thoughts come, reminds me of Barb Raveling's truth journaling. You write out the thoughts in your head and then look over what you wrote and if there are lies you address them with the truth. So hard to do but definitely worth the effort.
John Owen is hard but wonderful. I'm reading the death of death in the death of Christ. It's wonderful. Overcoming sin and temptation is wonderful as well. I just typically have to read with a notebook and a dictionary.
Faith, What is the Book of Enoch? Was it really removed from the Bible? Would reading it grow my understanding of the Lord, or would it corrupt my thinking? Please help. Thank you in advance! ❤
It was removed from the Canon, yes. Reading it can help you in your understanding of the time, culture, views, etc. But it should not be treated as the same importance with Scripture because it is not included
Faith, how are you reacting, responding to current world events? I’d like to hear your take on it especially given your biblical expertise. I know I feel anxiety in the sense that it’s so disheartening.
Yes! It’s often forgotten, but ceativity and craftsmanship is actually the very first gifts of the Spirit in the Bible! In Exodus 31:1-6 God says He has filled Bezalel with the Spirit of God so he can create all the things needed for the Tabernacle. Creativity is the first spiritual gift given to us by God, but it’s not listed in Paul’s letters so it’s often overlooked.
What about speaking on delegation so we have more time. Because I sent At home and I have a lot of time but I’m older I would like to do more for people, but all I can do is pray that God sends me people I love having a lot of time to pray, I think my life is aliving prayer and I pray constantly all day long as I go along
Faith I was taught we aren't only human, our spirit is connected to Christ Jesus, we are one spirit with Him, so how are we ONLY human? One third of our inner man is sealed by Holy Spirit and can't be corrupted by anything in the soul or the flesh... Forgive me for interjecting this comment but I am learning things differently to what I have been taught in the last 24 years. I am trying to connect the Bible books and the threads through the entire Bible... Aren't we supposed to divide the Word correctly by before the cross and after the cross? Aren't we new creatures with a new nature? Maybe I will email you... That might be better than writing in the comments ...
A little bit of a God complex going on here. This is all you think that God can’t be glorified unless you’re moving unless you’re doing. You’re always telling us how it’s not about you it’s about glorifying God so be still and know that he is God, psalm 46,10

This came at such a pivotal time! Thank you so much for having this raw and real conversation and sharing it with the rest of us. So convicting!

Such a great interview!! Thank you for these!!!
Thank you so much!! Awesome, and so deep.
I love your videos so much! It’s refreshing to have positive, uplifting, informative, FAITH based content.
I can hear him talk for hours! Even as a college kid I always wanted to hear more haha
What a neat person! You were so fortunate to have him shape your life 😊
Thank you Faith!
Ok to be honest I put off watching this one because the last author was way over my head but he is so relatable and I am totally getting his book.
I had to buy the book and it just came today. Can't wait to dive in!

Wow! I an see why you liked his classes! I am going to add his book on humanity to my wishlist.
Favorite episode so far. I would love to hear more from Dr. Kelly!
Faith, can you please add the commentary and resource suggestions from your guests into the description box for each episode?
John Owen is hard but wonderful. I'm reading the death of death in the death of Christ. It's wonderful. Overcoming sin and temptation is wonderful as well. I just typically have to read with a notebook and a dictionary.
This talk reminds me of when I read Get your life back by John Eldridge. Truly an incredible book on this concept
What is the actual title of the historical background commentary 2 volume set he mentioned? Trying to find the right ones on Amazon...Thanks!
It’s the IVP Bible Background Commentary. Two volume, OT & NT.
Mondays and Fridays are my FAVORITE 🤍

Creativity is definitely a great spiritual outlet, after all God is the Creator, and we are made in his image!

Great video, but you still need to relocate your big "Bible Nerd" sign so we can see it as you speak.:-)
Mary and Martha. ~Martha did good being busy all the time serving. Mary did better sitting at Jesus' feet being decipled . Balance.
