See Max is the only guy that gets shot in the arm with a 50 BMG rifle, survives, gets too pissed to go into shock, and ends up killing the guy that shot him.
He survived a shot from a Deagle in the fucking head in Max Payne 2. I guess it was the .357 or maybe even the original .45 variant but still HE SURVIVED A FUCKING SHOT TO THE HEAD! No matter how much he wants to die he can't.

People don't like change. MP1 and 2 were all your typical noir feeling game, set in NYC. Max Payne 3's setting in Brazil was vastly different, and people thought it wasn't as good. Personally, I think the way Rockstar wrote the storyline was spot on. Yeah there were excessive cutscenes, but they truly allowed you to take in the surroundings. And of course, Max Payne 3 has gameplay elements that can't be topped. Bloody and gruesome bullet wounds, bullet cam, and an epic soundtrack.
