Hello, I just thought I'd share my little discovery with you! You mention in your video that all curves need to be drawn in the clockwise direction for Valentina to be able to create a "piece". I figured out today that you can reverse a curve's direction when selecting pints and lines with the "detail" tool. In the dialogue window there is a tick box "reverse" that you can find above the "seam allowance" tick box. Just select that and the curve will reverse. If it does not work when creating the detail, go to the detail mode and you will see a straight line between two points instead of a curve. Click on the detail to bring up the options and reverse the curve. It pops up! I discovered it today while working on a skirt block, my hip curve was originally directed anti-clockwise.
1. Go to this page: valentina-project.org/download/ 2. Enter your email address, then click 'Submit and Download'. 3. Click on the download link for your operating system that will appear down the page. (Only choose a 'Weekly Test Build' if you are feeling adventurous. Otherwise, pick a 'Current Release'.) 4. Install as usual.
Thank you Thank you so much for your tutorial. I am a newbie in pattern drafting and in using a CAD program. I took a class once thru Burda Academy on digital pattern drafting, but did not finish it. I found out about Valentina project thru a face-book sewing group where some one posted the link for it. I have been determined to learn this program. So far I love your channel because you explain it so well and make it a little easy to learn. This weekend I sat with my copy of Winifred Aldrich book and your video. I can say that I did it!!! i drafted a basic simple skirt block. I am really looking for more tutorials from you on using Valentina. Thank you so much again.
Exact same GUI as Seamly2D and SeamlyMe. All too time consuming for me. I don't want to create a pattern piece from scratch...but load a basic pattern piece and edit it. Thank you for a nice Tutorial.
This is absolutely amazing. Thank you for this tutorial! I have been doing PDF patterns and grading in Illustrator but this may have just changed my life!
This was a fantastic tutorial. Thank you so much for sharing this. I tried using Valentina before but it isn't intuitive without a tutorial such as this. You made it all clear!! You're a very good teacher. I hope you make more videos soon. Also perhaps consider teaching on Skillshare. You can earn money doing so. All the best and thanks again!!
Hello! Thanks for sharing this useful video! How can I download the user manual? The link in the description looks broken since when you click on it appears the window "This repository does not have wiki enabled." I hope that you can help me to fix that, thank you!
Hello, the link you provided for the manual for the pantie does not work. Could you please re-post it. It would be easier to follow if I had the instructions. Thank you this is great!
Thanks you so much for a wonderful tutorial I’ve been petrified of using CAD software for a long time but your tutorial has given me the confidence to try it.
Thank you very much for the amazing tutorial. Is there any way to duplicate an existing pattern piece within the same project? one of my patterns is pretty much the same as another one except for a small variation and I don't wanna start all over the pattern piece from scratch. Thank you.
Hey, thank you for this tutorial, very useful to beginners to get familiar with Valentina and pattern drafting. I have noticed that in your website the measurement AC is different from what you mentioned in the video. I guess the one in the video is the good one right ? also you mentioned in the video that the point H is 0.6*(curve A1 A3) which is different from 0.6*waist to hip , is the same ? which one is true ? thanks a lot and have a successful life !
Very helpful tutorial. This is the first time I use this program. What if I want to draw a pencil skirt? Is there a similar draft, like the one of the panties, that I can use to create my own customized pattern? I have found some in pinterest. Does valentina offer sth similar? Thank you and congratulations!!!
Hello! Unfortunately, I am not able to access the User Manual for Valentina. I am very interested to learn more about this wonderful pattern-making software. Could you please share manual with me!
Do you know how to rotate parts of a pattern so that you can open/darts? When I try to select points and curves it works but not with lines, do you know what I am doing wrong?
Thank you very much. This is amazing. I am just starting to use Valentina (which now seems to be Seamly2D) and was very unsure how to start. Although I am sure some changes will have happened I now have a much better idea of what to do and feel less scared of wrecking the programme! I wish you had some more lessons...
Does valentina have a function to have all the gradings togheter on the same paper, like in standard bought patterns? Those have different lines for the different sizes
I just discovered this and it's amazing! I want to know if you can create pattern pieces in here with the different grading sizes available to print? So how you changed the size of the panty to be bigger, if I wanted to use this pattern for lets say size Small-XLarge, could I do that or can it only grade individually and never create the multiple sizes at once?
Thank you so much for such a detailed video. Though after having created the pattern, I am unable to go to the detail part. You have a window appearing, after the selected icon. I am unable to get that, and now I cant figure out the mistake I may have made. I would be grateful if you reply and help me out on this one. I am just beginning to learn Valentina. God Bless
If you have a newer version of Valentina it seems to work differently, I believe that if you click the points and lines/curves in the clockwise order to create the piece you want, then after the last point hit enter, the box appears with the details. Hope that helps!
Very good video, thank you. I see valentina works with a set of instructions to draft a pattern, but what about creating a new piece? A new design that is not the result of formulas but rather dart manipulation, adding fullness or any other pattern making technique? What software - if not valentina - do you suggest for it? Thank you
HI!...congratulations...I`m using the amazing software..but I`d like to obtain the maximum performance of it. for that I would like to obtain the manual. But I tried the path that has given. Unfortunately is not possible to download. Have you another site for that? by the way, have a nice day!
Thanks a lot for this tutorial Timeline Studio! I guess it is a stupid question, but how do you know you need 1/6 of the gusset length - I always get confused with the measurements. Is there a table sheet for basic length?
Just a question, what should I do when valentina says that "I cant use layout mode yet, that I have to at least create one workpiece". What should I do?
That is a very detailed and informative tutorial, thank you very much. One thing with the layout. I can see how you had them laid out and I think that is automatic by the program. Your front and back pieces should be cut on the fold and the pattern layout which was created doesn't appear to be that, to me. I presume that the program must be able to manipulate pieces to cut on the fold?
why cant i get the seam allowence tool (time 36:08)? everytime i click on it, i get these red connecting lines from one place to another. Whenever i click on the dots as recomennded, i don't get that "seam allowance tool" but rather some other command.
Is this version one lower than the latest version? Are the settings on the detail mode different now? When I tried, the details windw has more options and the seam allowence window doesn't open up. And I'm having trouble selecting the final pattern. Is this just me?
Lelanie Kotze you're no bother at all! :) And I didn't mention it, because it's not possible. In Valentina you have to add the same amount of seam allowance around the whole panel. Therefore I usually add no seam allowance in Valentina, but later manually on paper or in Corel draw.
Vielen Dank für das Tutorial! Dadurch konnte ich ein wenig mehr über das Program lernen. Ich habe schwierigkeiten mit der Nahtzugabe, könntest du mir da evtl. helfen?
Hi! thank you for sharing this amazing tutorial!! I was trying to use Valentina a few days ago and stuck on sewing allowances.. there's any way to not put the allowances in the middle center? (Because the fabric will be folded when cutting it) Thank you once again!
reginait Thank you for your comment! :) As far as I know, you have to have the same amount of seam allowance all around one piece. So having no seam allowance at the fold line is not (yet) possible.
Thank you for the fast answer!! I make swimsuits and have tons of paper patterns, now I will try to transfer to the computer using Valentina!! thank you once again!!! :)
@@timelacestudio376 Actually you insert the point in the dropdown and you have a before and after option. Before your first point should be 0, and after the last point should be 0.
Thanks so much, this is without a shadow of a doubt one of the greatest tutorials that I've ever watched. Just one question, where do I fine the measuring tape software that was on your desktop.
I want to sew my own clothes, but why reinvent the wheel and draw basic garments from scratch when they exist digitally. I need this in my life. I sure hope it works and prints to my 🖨
This instructor is so clear but not wordy. I loved her lesson?
God bless you for posting this video, you saved me about 1,000 hours of trial and error
Thank you, you explain very well! Much better than other tutorials!

Anastasia Every That's a great tip! Thank you for sharing it! :) This will make drawing curves a lot easier.

Absolutely brilliant tutorial, very well done, thank you so much
Thank you for your great tutorial. I just have a small question, I probably missed a step, but where is your point A12? Thank you :)
Just discovered this! Great tutorial and very informative. Thank you very much. Still works with the latest version of Valentina.
Thank you for this excellent tutorial, it got me started.

So wonderful! Thank you for taking the time to do this :)
Simply amazing - thank you so much- I will definitely try this for my patterns.

What if you just wanted to print different sizes? Ex: if you want to grade from a 8 to a size 14?
Thank you so much, your tutorial is awesome!
Great tutorial! Thanks!
this is so wonderful thank you!!!
Hi, sorry to be a bother. I know you mentioned it somewhere. But how do you skip adding seam allowance to for example the top of a corset panel piece?

I am also excited to know that there are programs like Valentine to materialize our ideas on new garments, right? :)
do this software doing the grading ?
It's great tutorial, thank you :)
Why did you multiply by 0.9 ?
Thank you. Very helpful.
