    Hi Rachael! Thank you so much for this series, you are a brilliant teacher, and explain everything in such simple and clear terms. I cannot wait to try out this software! I would love to see more of these videos and perhaps if you have created your own patterns, how you go about bringing them into Seamly2D. I am curious how you create more complicated shapes, such as curves, or a collar shape. Thanks again for all your expertise!

    I heard the LTS podcast and am really glad they promoted you to the world. I don't do Instagram - it takes up too much valuable sewing time😀. I'm going to give this software a go. Thanks so much for taking the time to make the videos. Looking forward to the Winifred videos too as I learned using that pattern drafting book - although I have Armstrong as well.

    Thank you so very much for sharing your knowledge about Seamly2D! Your videos really helped me to draft my bodice block in this program. I think it's so limited in posibilities (but yes - it's free) so in future I'm going to try and just do it in AutoCAD that my mother uses at her work. Nearly lost my mind several times trying to work out various things :)))

    Hi Rachael- these videos are great! Really clear and easy to follow! I wandered is it possible to draw a pattern without using a series of formulas? Ie I currently use illustrator to trace over a toile image I’ve made and I wandered if it was possible to do anything similar in Seamly?

    • @MinimalistMachinist
      @MinimalistMachinist  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello! Yes it is. Instead of putting formulas in the measurement boxes. You literally just put the number/measurement itself. You can’t drag things around like in illustrator though. Which may not actually be beneficial to you if you’re not linking to measurements files x

    is there any way to mirror one piece? I've made the front of a bodysuit for a baby and I want to print the entire front (both left and right parts and can't figure out how. I'm just begienning in patterning and seamly, btw

    • @MinimalistMachinist
      @MinimalistMachinist  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Carolina Zamora I think you can mirror objects by duplicating and then flipping at the axis. But I’ve never done it. I’d recommend you googling seamly2d + mirror pattern piece and there’s a section in the seamly manual on it and on their forum. Good luck x

    I've tried printing the pattern using the PDF/adobe method, but something's wrong because the printed measurements including test square are all off by 0.5-1cm. I have my printer settings set to: poster, tile scale 100%, no overlap. do you ever encounter this problem?

    • @MinimalistMachinist
      @MinimalistMachinist  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I haven’t, mine are all to scale. Hmmm you haven’t. Added seam allowance to the test square accidentally have you? I wonder what else that could be. Have you tried printing direct from Seamly2D to check scale *before* trying the Adobe method? That would tell us whether the error is in the Seamly file or the Adobe export

    • @beelyhuang9264
      @beelyhuang9264 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MinimalistMachinist Okay i just tried printing directly from seamly and the measurements are all off :( (they match the 'off measurements' when printing on adobe). I triple checked my test square and other lines in draft mode and they are all correct. Darn. I'll keep fiddling about - I just wanted to check to see if you ever had this happen! thanks so much for your prompt help! you're so great! I also read through other people's comments and everyone agrees you are a born teacher! thank you again for your amazing tutorials!

    hi there. super useful videos as i'm teaching myself pattern drafting but I'm struggling with seamly2d. I have the mac version and I don't know if that makes a difference, as there are quite a few commands you show that I cannot do. For example, I drew the block and then drew the pattern piece but it just won't let me do the seam allowance etc. I've watched many times and I get the process but I just don't seem to have the same functionality. The user manual isn't much use tbh. Also, I don't seem to be able to right click to bring up command boxes. It's all very frustrating. I'm so close!!! I don't know if that makes any sense, or if anyone else has similar issues?

    • @TheCocoapops
      @TheCocoapops ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm struggling with Mac as well. I've spent hours and hours on it - 4 days so far - and ended up with nothing. The lines bounce around, the nodes don't work, it won't do curves, half of the functions are dead, it crashes regularly and it won't make a workpiece because I can't get the red line to stick to the nodes. I'm practically in tears with it. I'm on the verge of giving up. I guess it's just not compatible with Mac.

      The videos are great, though.

    • @TheCocoapops

      I've just tried the Valentina version from the Valentina website and it works better for Mac, though it crashes periodically. It's also got an easier print interface. Otherwise, it's just the same as Seamly.

      Sorry i cant be of help on this one! I do use a Mac day to day, but for these videos I used my husbands PC and just use Seamly on that. Sorry I can't be of more help as i dont use it on the mac
