Very good video! One of the better 2zzGE OCV videos on TH-cam!
Thanks!
getting myself a 7th gen celica in 2 days and going to do this along with lift bolts replacement the first think i get it home, this channel has been helpful👌
Thank you so much bro. I cleaned the ocv filter today n got my lift back after several months.
Is your car still running good hidden lift? Hopefully this is the issue with mine going to attack it this weekend
What was the symptoms? Did it cut out at 6000rpm? Or it was going 8500 without the lift
Car ran great without the lift it just couldn't get past 7500 rpm and the power band would cut out
@@julienbissonnette8320 I currently have the same problem, you can drive the car normally, but if you and take it over 6k rpm when lift is meant to kick in it just doesn't work, and the engine and two other lights turn on. Got a code reader and it says it's a ocv closed malfunction problem. So I'm hoping this is the fix
Brilliant video. Very helpful 👍
I just got P1693 code on my automatic GTS. How common is broken lift bolts on automatic 2zz?
bro is it necessary to pour oil
or i can clean?
My gts recovered the power!! Thanks
P1693 otra vez

Hi, please help. I drive a 2002 Toyota Run X 1.8l with a 2zz ge engine. Which ocv is bank 1? Is it the one on the alternator side or the one on the air intake side?
Thank you.
nice video way better than the others..now youll get my sympathy not only that you got me subscribe to your channel
Hey, I appreciate that, thank you!
Hi, does the 1ZZ-FE engine have the OCV filter too? If so, would i find it in the same place?
If I remember hearing correctly, you said there was two of those filters. The one you replaced and where would the other one be? I know on the ones 1ZZ they’re behind the alternator where you pointed out at the beginning of the video. Are you saying there’s also one there on the 2Zz? I’d appreciate it if you could help me locate it.
yeah same place as the 1zz. The 2zz just has the additional one.
Does this clear out the code I have for OCV Bank 1??
I feel Bad, I'm at 260K miles and until now i'm looking into doing this to my 2ZZ 😭...Forgive me Celica
Have you done it yet? What were the results?
Excellent video.where is vvti oil filter in 1nrfe
No catch cans on the Celica?
Do you think the valve was actually cleaned before since it was so clean already?
No, none of the valve cover bolts had any markings of tools indicating it was never opened. None of the other bolts showed markings either. This isn't something the average person knows about so more than likely it was never done. It's just clean from good oil and frequent maintenance.
@@KeleentProductions wow super cool, good to know, thanks!
Thank you for the video. Im having issues with my matrix xrs, p1012 code
I have the same code, did cleaning the ocv fix it for you?
Valve lift won't work if both are not cleaned
I did 20 foot pounds and the bolt snapped…
What oil filter do you use? And do you happen to know what oil filter the previous owner used? That ocv filter is incredibly clean. Also thanks for the vid! An 'engine bay cleaning' video would be nice. Though, I'm more interested in how people get the other ocv filter out without removing the alternator. Some folks claim to have done it, but i wonder if it requires special tools.
I cant remember what the previous owner used but I know it was maintained meticulously! I use Mobil 1\ K&N. Being on top of the maintenance is more important than the brand in my opinion. Technology between most oil filters are so good that the difference is marginal... the key factor is whether or not you do frequent maintenance!
Hi, first thank you for this great video. I've noticed a can / box / filter on your hose at 5:58 What is it ? Was thinking of catch can but don't seems to be it and I don't remember having it on mine.
The Evap hose?
@@KeleentProductions Yes I think but i'm not sure what it is
@@manueleggen8265 It's part of the emissions system
I have problem p1693 (OCV problem) on my GTS, this must be the solution?
I assume so, been looking to see if anyone else had the same code and cleared it by doing this
@@benji7481I have that code, im gonna clean this filter and see what happens
God damn, after months the same problem appeared🤣
Glad because its the same and I have experience but what a mess, it fails ofteeen
GOOD JOB DONE
Hello, i have a Corolla E12 2002 with this engine, the lift should kick in at 6200RPM, it always start like this, the lift doesn't work then warning indicators appears, check engine, VSC and TRC off, if i reset the control unit the issue disappear for some time but then it comes back, the control unit alarm is "lift valve blocked", cleaning this filter could fix the issue?
I have literally the same issue, just recently got a Toyota Celica vvtl-i GT, tried to hit lift, (didn't work, won't go past 5500 rpm, and the same warning lights came on), got a code reader which read the problem as: code: P1693 - tachometer circuit low voltage, did some online research a DN ended here, so it's most likely the oil needs changing, this needs to be done, or lift bolts replaced. Either way this is most likely the issue.
@@SpartanQwop I did solve this, but i don't know if i did that just by changing Oil, i have changed also the candles and the oil filter, i did a complete car service by myself.
More old these engines become more frequently we have to do car services
@@y0ui0u I found the issue, so I did another code reader test and it now reads: OCV closed malfunction. So I'm hoping once the oil is changed, and by following this process it should work.
What's a "lift screen" ? Some type of oil screen ? What are symptoms of a bad one ?
It's the variable valve timing oil screen. If it doesn't work or is plugged you will lose variable valve timing.
Any difference with a 1ZZ ?
My '04 Matrix has this issue, runs fine until you hit lift and then it bogs out and won't go past 7500 rpm, car only has 110 k, I just got the car, if I change this filter and gasket do you think it will solve the problem???
If your lift bolt has been changed then yes there is a good possibility that this could fix it
THANK YOU
Good job bro
If this is not clean will oil leak from it
no. Oil wont go through it.
Thanks for the DYI
DoctaM3 my pleasure! You still have a 2ZZ?
