  • Excited to reveal my latest build, the G Force Hobby Genova! 🥳
    The what? 😁
    The Genova is the first RC buggy kit by Japanese RC equipment maker G Force Hobby. Just released at the end of July 2022, the Genova is a mid level 2WD rear motor mount 1/10 RC buggy with a design supervised by legendary driver Masami Hirosaka.😎 If you're into vintage styled buggies, but want more modern underpinnings, then this might interest you. Sadly, at the time this goes live the Genova is not available outside of Japan (officially), but that may change in the future.
    This is my first unboxing video, so apologies for the clunky presentation! 😅

    (Viewers outside of Japan may recognise their products as SkyRC. I do not know if G Force are rebranded SkyRC products or vice versa.)

    Love the old school look. I really can't stand cab forward modern looking cars.

    Nice video David. It's such a shame we can't get them in the UK. I'm trying to get one on the show but not having much luck. Keep up the good work :)

      Hi there! Just saw your community post that you have managed to get one on order! Congrats! I think you’re gonna really like the Genova. And it will be good to see it on your channel, bring attention to a much wider audience and hopeful build popularity for this buggy from G Force! 👍
      Thanks for taking the time to comment!

      @@KaiCityRC Hi, yes it’s on its way now. I’m really looking forward to receiving it as it’s a totally new buggy but with the lovely vintage style vs all the cab forward designs we see today.

    The instant I saw it , I was thinking AE Rc10 B3 with maybe with an after market front shock tower.

    Hirosaka didn't designed the whole car. Only the body and he "supervised" the making process.

    Hello, great video enjoyed that, I’m keen to get one of these myself , hopefully soon. Looks are a e I think. Bits of rc10b3/b4 bits of ECX as well , body has a bit of a Mardave cobra look as well. That’s just what I saw anyway. Can’t wait to see it built :)

      Thanks! The vintage styling is what really drew my attention to this buggy. Modern designs are nice and all, but it's nice to see someone bring out completely new chassis with a vintage styled body. 👍

    Not sure on the value proposition at 26k Yen (~£160), I don't know what the equivalent race kit from Yokomo, Associated etc costs in Japan. But this is a lot more dear than a DT03, I hope the included parts make it worth it.

    • @KaiCityRC
      @KaiCityRC  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's exactly what I thought when it was first announced and why I've waited for a while (well, two weeks! 😁 Resistance was futile) before hitting that buy button. On the surface at least it is a little expensive for what it is. I'll have more thoughts once I've completed the build, but price wise it is the same as the TD2, (~¥26,000), way cheaper than a Ultima RB7(~¥45,000). Way more expensive that a DT-03 (~¥9,000), but cheaper than Yokomo YZ-2 (~¥43,000) and way cheaper than any imported kits from the likes of Associated etc. 🙂

    I was curious about this kit too. Think it’s only domestic sales for now. Masami san seems to be fronting all the marketing so it should be good ? Looking forward to seeing your build and running videos of this!👍😊

      Just about to upload the "build" video, so stay tuned for that. Spoiler: very pleased with most aspects of the build, but there are a few minor issues.
      At the moment the Genova is for the Japanese market only, but I guess depending on the success (uncertain at the mo as the price seems to be a sticking point for most) they may make it available in other markets.

    Its a beautifull buggy, no doubt in that but at € 366 its a bit expensive, buy this is the price that i saw on ebay. A guy On another channel bought it for €250 via Amażon japan which i think its a good value for what you get. Hopefully they will also start to import these in europe, they look very promising.

    • @KaiCityRC
      @KaiCityRC  ปีที่แล้ว

      That's expensive! Over here they retail for around ¥25,000 or about €200 or so. I think the kit is reasonable value, but spares and hop up are relatively expensive.

    I do really love the design of it a lot. I agree it has that classic RC 10 style body on there and it looks great. I looked and do not see it available in the US, only through eBay from Japan. I will be very interested in the build and what you think of it. I enjoy seeing stuff like this that I have never seen and probably won't be able to get my hands on easily! Thanks for sharing and looking forward to the next video of it!

      Thanks! Been a busy day, so only made a little progress. Impressed so far. 👍 As many parts come pre-assembled I don't think it will take very long to put together at all. The kit is mostly plastic, but of a very high quality. Looks like it is designed to take some abuse. Will put out a full review once I finish the build. 👍

      The eBay seller pricing of $400 USD is a bit steep though. Tough price to swallow. 2600 yen is about $195 USD so those eBay sellers are price gouging for sure.
