It's interesting that no one saw the double dribble. Not the ref, not the announcers, and not the Auburn bench from what I saw. I'd like to see the original tape to see when someone caught it. If I recall correctly, it was the expert referee rep/commentator who brought it up after the fact. My take is that Jerome was so natural in picking up the ball and going about his business that it didn't look like a double dribble.
UVA goes over 5 minutes without scoring a point near the end, goes from up 10 to down 4, misses their final shot, and still wins. Even Duke is jealous of that luck!
That double dribble no call was what shifted the tournament heading into the championship game. Shoutout to Auburn and Sir Charles

Definitely a double dribble, but with those circumstances (final seconds, Auburn trying to foul, ball coming off his foot seeming as if he lost possession) it can be so easy to miss something like that. Clearly a foul on Guy though. Defender gave him no where to land.

Auburn got away with several defensive fouls that were not called. For example 2:09-2:11 Hunter drives in makes layup but was clearly fouled.
Really sucks for Auburn. But they did get away with a blatant foul on the last 3 point shot of the game against Florida in the SEC tournament. Win some, lose some.

Yes, people can debate about the missed calls etc by the refs, but the bottom line is Samir Doughty of Auburn committed the cardinal sin of fouling a three point shooter with 0.6 seconds left and your team up by two. It's one of those fouls that they had to call. You don't give the ref the chance to call the foul and thus possibly the game. You make the shooter make that winning shot.

I don't care for either team but I'd prefer a no call on the last 3. Guy is running to the three point line and takes a turn around fade away. No contact on the hands or arms. If Virginia pulls this off, history will have to acknowledge that although they were the 1st team as a 1 to lose against a 16, they came back the very next year and won it all.
Contact on your lower body as you are taking the shot...your legs being pushed out before the ball leaves your hands will throw off your shot. It was a CLEAR FOUL. It was not a close call. It was an obvious call that should have been made, and was.

bryce brown touching his jersey didnt force the ball out of jerome's hands. Jerome tried to do a behind the back and failed, but wasnt called for it. If the roles were reversed, Auburn would have been called for a double dribble because refs are top seed biased

Hitting 3 straight ain't so easy in ideal conditions, let alone with the weight of losing in the Final 4 on his back. That's clutch, and in and of itself, had nothing to do with a referee's call or no call. Auburn has nothing to hang their heads over, and Virginia has earned their place in the final. Monday night I'll be rooting for my Big XII Red Raiders. Virginia seems to have a bit of "destiny" on them though.
it had everything to do with the no call. If the double dribble was spotted by refs who are being paid to officiate a final four game like theyre supposed to, auburn gets possession with 1.5 seconds and the game is over.

You dont call a foul with 1.6 seconds unless the guy gets completely mugged. It was a bump foul. Also, on the the very last play where the Auburn players shoots the last shot 4:26 - one can make an argument that he got fouled too.

How is there no penalty in NCAA for ruling before the ball is inbounded? In the NBA it’s 2 shots AND the ball back. Also why did they add .9 seconds to the clock after they foul the guy inbounding the ball it’s at 6.5 when they are going for the inbound the guy fouls and they give Virginia an extra second wtf?!?

Greg Banks yep it’s clean. even tho it’s a rule that should be changed. allows players to get space without dribbling or from dead balls back to live ones. he clearly had possession already and lost the ball on his own regard before picking it up yet again to dribble. that is technically a double dribble/travel. so why should it depend on circumstance

Ref was looking for the foul when Virginia player double dribbled. Auburn player was grabbing jersey as the ball goes off foot. So, the ref didn't call the initial foul or the double dribble. And if your mind is set on seeing a foul...you will miss the double dribble. And the foul call came a second later.

I understand why Pearl didn't have his composure at that time, but he messed up by not calling that timeout before Guy's first or second free throws. By the time he did it was too late, Guy already knew he was making the third.
