My favorite past time from Cal football is watching them beat SEC teams. We were underdogs against Ole Miss in 2019, (and 2017 iirc) and we were underdogs today against Auburn. Roll on you bears!!!

@@MikeHawkbabythank you, this is Freeze 2nd year, he still needs time to get his guys in but Auburn is more talented, so there's some deeper issues at Auburn that Freeze need pluck. He came into the worst situation in power 5 though. I will give him 2-3 more years to build his roster up before I judge. Although Ole Miss and Tennessee didn't go through the same thing that Auburn is going through, they blossomed at a rapid pace.

Coworkers not alone, it's a careful what you wish for scenario for sure lol. With both conferences' teams placing high priority on ball control and running the clock (sec with the run, pac with their WCOish passing), most pac12/sec matches I've seen ended up turning into long, tense low scoring affairs.
ALL the controversial calls cut out of this recap, make it appear much much closer than the end score....Cal with a Kicker and honest refs, this could have been in the 35-7 range pretty easily. While the refs refrain from outright awarding a win, they can tweak the game to bring back balance.

I mean, to be fair Jordan-Hare is a very difficult place to play...the problem is that Payton Thorne got dropped on his head one too many times as a kid. Officials need jail time. Everyone in the country witnessed them try to give auburn the game. It also resulted in Mendoza getting injured as he would have otherwise been taking a knee rather than driving the ball.

A couple of call could have gone both ways. I was a the game as an auburn fan, and I do agree those refs were terrible. Obviously that PI could have gone both ways, but auburn got it. The first targeting call against cal could have gone both ways, but Cal got the call. It's just hard to say the refs favored either team that game.

Pretty much evened out… Auburn didn’t get the obvious targeting call early in the game and then got the weak targeting call later. Cal receiver caught a pass for a 1st down that bounced off the turf and wasn’t reviewed/called a completed catch. Bad calls went both ways but that PI on call was total BS 100%
This kid is dangerous, he will be one of the greats in the NFL, very possible.
