    The problem with the Rhogam shots that you did NOT mention is that they carry severe and deadly adverse events - Intravascular hemolysis (IVH) leading to death has been reported in patients treated for immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) with Rho(D) immune globulin. IVH can lead to clinically compromising anemia and multi-system organ failure, including acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), acute renal insufficiency, renal failure, and disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC). Alert patients and closely monitor for the signs and symptoms of IVH in a health care setting for at least 8 hours after administration for ITP. Perform a dipstick urinalysis at baseline, 2 hours, 4 hours after administration, and prior to the end of the monitoring period. If signs and/or symptoms of IVH are present or suspected, post-treatment laboratory tests should be performed. Hemolytic reaction includes hypotension, nausea, chills, headache, and a decrease in haptoglobin and hemoglobin. Disseminated intravascular coagulation, Intravascular hemolysis, hemolysis resulting in death, clinically compromising anemia, extravascular hemolysis, hemolytic reaction, Hemoglobinemia, disseminated intravascular coagulation, vertigo, Tachycardia, hypotension, erythema, pruritus, Increase in blood pressure, Cardiac arrest, cardiac failure, myocardial infarction, etc.

    Checking into this for donating location near us and our son, our entire family is Rh- and I learned just the other day that it may be possible that Rh- men can be introduced and sensitized to Rh+ and then be able to donate plasma as well

    I'm 65 yrs old. When I gave birth to my first child at 19 yrs.old, they only gave a RHOgam shot after I gave birth. They didn't give it during my pregnancies.

    Rh negative women should receive it prior to conception is they have developed antibodies to the D antigen. In my case my mother passed it on to me when I was born as my brother ahead of me was Rh positive and I am Rh negative. So I rejected my first Rh positive pregnancy. I have one Rh negative pregnancy now a daughter which went perfectly. My doctor chose not to give me Rhogam because my daughter was Rh negative. But my next pregnancy resulted in rejection. I got the antibodies from my mother because of the brother ahead of me being Rh negative. All Rh negative women should be tested for the anti D antibodies prior to conceiving w a Rh positive partner.

    !! hello!! I'm Rh Negative was given Rhogam after the birth of my daughter & now, 16 months later, I am newly pregnant again. Will the Rhogam protect my fetus before the 12 weeks mark? Rhogam isn't administered until 12 weeks along so Am I prone to miscarrying?

      If you had Rhogam in the past, then you probably are protected unless you start bleeding. If you start spotting or bleeding, get the Rhogam again. As long as you don't have antibodies now, which Rhogam should have protected you after the birth of your daughter from developing, you do not need Rhogam until you bleed or give birth. I thought they usually give it at 28 weeks? What was your daughter's blood type? I'm in the same boat. Type O negative with A positive husband. First baby. Worried I already have the antibodies, though.

      @@LW-ej6id Hello, did it went well? How is your baby? I am the same here . I am o negative and hubby o positive. I had miscarriage once and did not get the rogham shot. This is the second pregnancy after miscarriage. They told me to wait till 28 weeks for a rogham shot. I am worried if I am already sensitized will the shot be helpful for me.

    This plasma center that collects RH sensitized blood in Buffalo, NY? Do you get paid for this? Because, if so, in ten years, when I have had my children, I will literally sensitize myself and donate just as much as she is. I could be 401.
    Edit: BTW, NOT TRYING TO DOWNPLAY THESE TRAGEDIES, as I am now potentially facing something similar - they think my anti-D antibodies are from the Rhogam already administered when I had bleeding at 6 weeks; I am now 17 weeks tomorrow and I had the antibody test after receiving Rhogam; antibodies were too weak to titer at 12 weeks so probably from Rhogam; BTW THANK YOU FOR YOUR DONATION - but I am also pragmatic and wouldn't necessarily be willing to sensitize myself for no reason (as I might be able to receive a different blood type's transfusion in an emergency 1* if I am not sensitized; is this correct???). Are there any other risks of sensitizing oneself after one has had their children? In 10 years, I'll be 42 so I doubt I will want more children at that time, or be able to have them.

    My first pregnancy I miscarried 2 years ago even after the rhogam shot. I am currently pregnant again just a couple of weeks so I'm scared and doing more research for my blood type.

      If you did the rhogan probably your miscarriage has another reason.. I have my first son healthy I did 2 shots in Brazil one with 28 weeks another after delivery, then I got pregnant again but I had a miscarriage then they don't give me another shot.. For this reason now I'm sensitized and I got another 2 miscarriage... Now Im pregnant again.. My antibodies started to increase I'm in my 25 w.. So I think you need investigate your antibodies levels if you sensitized, but like you can see Im sensitised and pregnant so is possible

    She is Rh- gave birth to first healthy son. Was 1st born Rh+? ..?? So the 2nd son was Rh+ and she had problems. So an Rh- mother the first birth does not need Rhogam. It's the second birth that she needs it only just in case baby is +? If mom and dad both negative will baby be negative?

      That being said, I'm O- & my husband is A+. We have two A- children. Odd that they both received my recessive trait. I've talked to someone w a positive husband who had 5 negatives.

      @@LW-ej6id that’s good info thank you. Both myself, my parents and 2 siblings are all O-. However, I am part of an RH- community and several are in the group because their parents were both negative and they carry the recessive gene. I am assuming you are correct so perhaps a paternity test for these individuals is in order 🤔

    • @LW-ej6id
      @LW-ej6id 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Realalma If they are positives (just carry the negative allele) a paternity test is in order. Lol. My husband has to carry the recessive allele because our boys inherited one allele from each of us and if they had gotten the dominant allele for positivity, that's the one that would be expressed. What's weird is on his Eldon card (we tested during my first pregnancy) it looked A+ but just barely and I proposed he probably had the negative allele then and now, I guess I was right. Lol
