    The best time to drink gin and tonic is in the evening after a hard day of work / hot day say at around 7:30-8:00pm with lime garnish and muddled mint leaf with a large ice cube pure bliss.

    Bond gets shaken not stirred because it dilutes the alcohol more so he doesn't get as drunk when he's shmoozing the ladies! Fun fact I thought I would share for those who stuck around to the end!

    • @Yammie_Moto671
      @Yammie_Moto671 7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      And if thats the case, tell bond to drink it slow. No customer wants to pay for an extra diluted drink. And the reason why it should NOT shaken is because 1) You can get crushed ice in your drink. 2) Martinis should be clear. Shaking it gives it a haze look.
      BUT
      Drink/make it as you please. Cheers!

      @liljendal20 7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      The main reason people tell you not to shake a martini is because the vermouth is a wine based spirit, you never shake a wine based spirit. Stir is the way to go!, plus, you almost always stir coctails if there is no citrus in them, you just want to stir the spirits together. when citrus is in place you want to bond everything nicely together with a good shake.

    • @blue04mx53
      @blue04mx53 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      very true. However, in the books. and in most of the movies he specifically asks for a Vodka Martini, This can and should be shaken at least I was taught so in a TCM Mixology, course. 3 parts Gin , 1 part vodka 1/2 part vermouth. Enjoy your martinis however you like them. But, if you want the James Bond Martini it is shaken not stirred. and has Vodka.

    • @EvansCantStop
      @EvansCantStop 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      also if you don't want to oxdizie the vermouth. People typically shake martinis if they don't add or like vermouth.

    • @MichaelJohnson-pk5sq
      @MichaelJohnson-pk5sq 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Mustard 3 Yes, and crushed ice increases the dillution while keeping it cold.
      Personally, I believed Bond ordered it shaken as a sexual inuendo, as much of his banter included.
      I can make them clear, hazy or crazy. What's your pleasure?

    I used to hate gin when I was younger. Early 20s, bought several different brands, hated them all. Now at age 30, I figured I'd give it one last shot, and low and behold, a gin and perrier is one of my all time favorite drinks! (Not a fan of tonic, but carbonated mineral water is excellent! I feel it really opens up the flavor of the gin without adding any extra flavors)

    The Tom Collins or John Collins is the best introduction to gin IMO

  • @resbalonso
    @resbalonso 8 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    LOVE gin! It's true that the movie Bond drank poorly made vodka martinis, but the Vesper from Casino Royale has more gin than vodka, so there's that. I make the Cosmopolitan with gin instead of vodka for my wife's friends. A Tom Collins would be an easier drink to turn someone onto gin instead of a Martini or Negroni, which I would say are harder core and gin-heavy. A gin Smash is also pretty good, with either mint or basil.

    I have fond memories of my grandmother on my mother's side always drinking gin and tonics made with Beefeater. I can't fathom why people would hate gin with the exception being the few idiots I've met who said they did shots of gin for god knows what reason.

    One of my early childhood memories was the scent of Juniper shrubs outside of my grandparents home. Even today, I judge Gin by it's juniper scent. Living on the East coast of the U.S., I have lots of opportunity to taste gin distilled withing 40 miles of my location; Newark, NJ.

    You used a 'London Dry' style of gin for all of your drinks. Try introducing Bill, your nancy boy cameraman, to other styles of gins with lighter botanical mixes and less juniper. Try Hendricks for example, that uses some cucumber to add a very light flavour and mask most of the juniper flavour.

    Gin became an old timers drink in the 1960's when everyone was obsessed with being modern and rolling blunts and girls burned their bras and we invented sex (that's what WE thought!) but somewhere along the way I discovered the Beefeater's martini extra extra dry with an olive. This has been my tipple ever since then. I'm pleased to hear that millennials embrace the cocktail.

    Nothing better than a Sapphire G&T on the deck or patio on a hot summer day. And pardon me, but the right proportion is gin on the rocks w literally a "splash" of tonic, slice of lime.

    The first thing I got drunk on was rum...
    and yeah, I've hated it for about 5 years. I still don't chew juicy fruit gum because of the clove flavor reminding me of rum.

    Bombay Sapphire and tonic is my drink of choice and has been for over 20 years. I don’t care for all these flavors of vodka and rum that are popular with the young crowd now. Beefeater and Tanqueray are also good choices 👍

    Gin is definitely an acquired taste. Ive had a lot of gin in my day but first trying gin I would get that's pine tree kinda taste but was not offended by the flavor but drinking my fair share of gin I don't get pine tree anymore I guess I taste juniper and its not pine tree its damn good. Good tries Broker's gin beefeater sad its 40% abv or 44% abv from 47% when it was 47 it was magical but tanqueray is good to but they are standard gins try diffrent ones they are all diffrent.

    I love the taste. Love it. But it's the only spirit, other than 3 times amount of rum, that gives me a hell of a hangover. No joke. I'll down whisky all night. No problem.
