I have used mine for three days. You can work quickly and is not very messy to work with. It works just fine. For the last coat I used a dry roller and gently rolled over the wall to eliminate streaks and drips. Finished product looks great!
This is a very helpful review. Actual painting and use of the equipment. I have just bought the product and now has a peace of mind using it soon after watching this. Haha!
I use a paint roller tray to help clean the roller out, running it backwards and forwards over the ridges, (when the water stays clean so is the roller), after running water through the fill hole. Just use clean water in the tray a few times. I also use the tray to help prime the roller. I also find it best to thin the paint. Experiment a bit.
Thank you for the review. I have bought one of these and will be using it in the next couple of days. Your review has given me confidence to use this rather than the trusty old roller.
Mick Hall I hope you’re happy with it! There are mixed reviews in the comments but I think if we were all used to this, the traditional roller would be considered a mess!
Glad I came across your video because I almost pulled the trigger and bought. You did a great review, thank you. It just looked too cumbersome to want to deal with. The idea is great, this one just doesn’t cut it though. I’m looking at time. That entire section of block would’ve been completed with conventional method by the time you had paint coming out of that thing. Appreciate you sharing.
David Liberati Welcome! Cinder block is a different animal all together. I did use a regular roller on the cinder block in my basement and had to push/go over the areas several times because of the porous nature. Overall, I’m a messy painter and always drip paint when moving from my pan to the wall, so in that aspect, this is better. If I had never used either and had to pick one, I’d still go with this. 👍
Extremely helpful!! Mine will be here tomorrow. Never dawned on me to check reviews first. 🤦♀️😆 so first review was horrifying. Watched yours in full & im sold! This has been out for a few years so it was $20 with a pole included (9 pcs set) and I will hope for the best. Thanks again
Thank you for doing this. I am just launching myself as a decorator for hire, I have a couple of job offers and I bought this kit on the strength of it being a time saver. Saw some of the other views and thought I’d wasted my money. Feel more confident giving this a go thanks to your common sense advice. Thanks 👍
Karl Townsend Please let me know what you think. I purposely didn’t watch any of the other videos beforehand because I wanted no preconceived opinions. I’m a messy painter and found this to be less mess and waste.
@@Jennyfromtheshop Hi Jennifer, yep tried out the roller on a job I was working last week. I found it was pretty great on an already painted wall. Not so on a newly plastered ceiling, gave inconsistent and uneven coats. Resorted to a conventional roller in the end. I also found the additional edging gadgets completely useless and resorted to a brush and small roller for all tge edge's. Was using pretty good paint as well. Conclusion? I think as a touch up and quick make over tool, where you don't want to make too much mess , this tool could be useful. I have a job lined up in couple of weeks, where I will be just painting over emulsion, so we'll see how it goes. 😉
Thank you for sharing your findings! There was another follower who said using it on ceilings was a disaster, so I’m guessing gravity is no this roller’s friend. I also thought the extras were useless and would rather they spend more money making the roller a little better quality vs giving us a bunch of gadgets. I do think it has its place. Drop your handle here if you’re on Instagram so I can follow your projects.
Thanks for filing an honest review - with tips and tricks! How do you think this roller would work on smooth surfaces (e.g. no texture) that you want to keep smooth?
Same... I thought I've wasted my money and I was scared I was going to loose money + making a mess ! I know it would work now ... I'll let you know once I'll paint my room 😁
Hi Jennifer, thank you for the video and as a decorator, from your video the paint runner pro is one tool I'll never be using because of the inconvenience that it comes with. I prefer application by brush and roller and it's not difficult at all once a person gets used to brush and roller and knows all the tips and tricks. I've got some product reviews if it interests you, these products I review are UK based and not sure if they're in America
Begnaud Gerard Welcome! I actually thought it was pretty useful overall. Not having to reload my roller is a plus. Also, I’m a really messy painter, and this product makes less drips. Let me know how you like it.
I love this video I just bought mine yesterday so at least I know I’ll get my money worth I wish you would have used the smaller one but all in all thanks for the video ☺️💯💯
Thank you! I’ve used mine several times and overall, it’s definitely faster and less messy than a regular roller. I’m a terribly impatient painter and drip paint everywhere. lol This eliminates the step of loading paint on a roller/dripping paint in between the pan to the wall.
You did a better job than Vivian Tries, maybe she got a bad roller, because it was leaking bad!! Hers didn't come with the edge roller and it was only $19.95 at Wal-Mart. I have to think yours had added shipping cost. Great video and great review. 🐱🐱
I haven’t seen that video but I would bet there are knock off versions of this product. The first paint on the cinder block was the thinnest paint I’ve ever used and it didn’t drip. I’m wondering if some of the other videos intentionally made the product hard to use to get views? It’s a possibility.
Home School I’m a MESSY painter. Lol Seriously, I always drip or spill paint . Maybe that’s why I favored this gadget over the old way. Thank you for watching and commenting. Hope the video helped.
@@Jennyfromtheshop Yeah. I just wanted to see if it was worth it and bought it. Id say its ok for a home use, but if you are a professional in this, you really need to get cheaper. But if you just do small projects I think its okay. Thanks for taking the time.
Thank you very interesting unlike other reviews I've seen you definitely seem to be using it properly and giving it a proper go. I will give it a go and let you know how it turns out.
Wesley Sawkins Aside from it being kinda cheap material wise, you don’t have to deal with the pan or clean up, that’s a plus right there in my book. Also, I’d always drip paint when reloading a traditional roller. Please let me know what you think.
Jez Chazania Oh, thank you so much for your kindness! Of all my videos, this seems to be the one I get the angriest comments on. 🤣 Every time I see someone left a remark on it I brace myself. I appreciate the well wishes, right back at you from the US! 🇬🇧 🇺🇸
Thank you for the video but for me I think that roller would be best for small areas like bathrooms and kitchens. For brick I would rather use a 3/4 to an 1 inch thick roller nap.
I've used this myself - you need the right paint and need to get the pad evenly coated on flat paper for a couple of minutes. And why would you put a stick in it if you're not painting high up? You'd have much better control of it if you took the stick out!
I did take the stick out, the plastic was a small handle for both hands so I thought it would be helpful, but it wasn’t. Projects are very often trial and error and what I learn by making mistakes is what other users would likely try as well.
I’ve seen on other videos that the sponge at the edge of the roller seems to swell up causing the paint to deep out, maybe if the roller was used at all times where the cap is never at the bottom for fear of it falling off, it may be better if there area in the home was already painted so really to use it to just freshen up the home, as I’m stuck in the house due to covid 19 I need to do something as I’m bored. How are these to clean out, please could you do a video on how you cleaned it out so you can use a different colour paint. Would you still use dust sheets on the floor just incase it may drip ??? did you use the edging and corner tool ???? Sorry for so many questions... thanks all and stay safe 🙏🙏🙏
MrTheomighty1 Lol, it’s all good. Ok, I felt cleanup was maybe a little easier because I was just washing a roller vs washing a roller plus pan. I cleaned my roller the usual way from the outside, but also was able to spray water from the inside (forcing it out). I have a (closet) painting project going on now but only have so much paint and won’t be using this roller on it so another video right now isn’t feasible. We’re all a little stir crazy right now, but this is a good time to tackle projects, so go for it!
MrTheomighty1 Yes, still use drip sheets in case. I tried using the edger but the cinder block of this project was too rough. In honesty, the accessories are a bit cheap, not that they don’t work but I think the manufacturer should stick to making the roller a bit sturdier and call it a day.
It seems to take longer to use though, even normal reloading factored in I'm sure it'd be quicker to use a standard roller / brush combo. For me anyway! Nice video 👍
I FINALLY got round to braving this roller since first watching this vid. Firstly - I totally agree there is no splashback or dribbles which is why I ovoid rollers in the first place. I’m great with a paint brush and terrible with a roller. Secondly, I get what you mean about quality, it’s almost fragile! 😅🙈 Of course one of the children stepped on the main roller and it went “CRUNCH”, but sprang back to shape! Some of its ‘ribs’ for want of a better word, are cracked/snapped but remain in the right tunnel/curved shape and I was still able to finish the wall! Awesome 😎 I’m yet to use the other bits for corners and skirting. I’ve an entire house to do 😩 Oh and rolling it on paper for about 10 minutes got almost nothing for me. I filled it more then went straight to the wall - voila, the paint suddenly started to appear and soak the roller.
I am painting now. I thought I was doing something wrong. Mine did drip, terribly. One end was not attached properly. The paint come out heavy making it hard to roll evenly. Having a full roller made it hard to roll also. It is still messy. I have paint all over my hands and some on carpet. I have 2 painter poles and broom handle and all were too big for the roller handle. Paint a room in 20 minutes? My patootee. My arms are killing me. Now I have to get my 6ft2in son to help get the upper parts of the wall because I dont have a pole and now I need to figure out how to get in the corners and near the ceilings and baseboard because that edge roller doesnt work well either. You give this product a B. I give it a C+. Now that I am making adjustments for its flaws it does cover well.
Vicky Carswell Well that stinks! I tried it with two different paints and surfaces and gave it my honest opinion. Wonder if you bought the same brand roller but sorry yours didn’t work out.
HeSpeaksVolumes I did but not around trim/casing like what you’d find in a typical room. I used it in my basement and did not use painter’s tape, which is a pain and has its own issues.
HeSpeaksVolumes Let me know what you think. I honestly think if these rollers were the norm, everyone would complain how messy the traditional ones are. I ALWAYS drip paint between reloading and the wall and so much gets wasted that dries in the pan. One follower said it didn’t work well on a ceiling and I can understand that. My only complaint is it could be better made quality wise.
I Know the instructions say not to use enamel paint but that's what I have. Would anybody know the reason why? I was so ready to finish the office I almost cried when I read that.
Hahaha! Thank you! I actually didn’t watch anyone else because I didn’t want outside influence when doing mine, but several people have commented that everyone was fumbling around. Not sure what the trouble was, exactly.
@@Jennyfromtheshop I’ll be honest! Tried it today and whilst rolling the edger it snapped in half, then after doing half a wall with the bigger roller it started dripping out of the bone sealable end so ultimately it’s ended up in the bin! £30 wasted but maybe it was a fake?!?
That stinks! I think there must be knock off versions based on such mixed reviews but even I agree the “extras” are cheaply made and I would’ve concentrated on making the main roller higher quality vs a bunch of so-so gadgets. The first paint I used in the video was very thin and even I didn’t have drips. Possibly my version is a US manufacturer?
sod that for a lark. give me a paint pad anytime, i couldnt be arsed doing all that just to get paint out of a roller. surely the seam on that roller would show on the wall, i bet that roller is bloody heavy now with the paint in in.
Easy enough, I guess? Clean up is always dreadful when it comes to painting. What I did like was being able to scoop the excess out and I took the sprayer from my sink (bucket placed in my sink) and blasted the paint from the inside out. One plus, there’s no paint tray to clean.
@@Jennyfromtheshop i just purchased one, that's the reason why i got into ur channel, nice review by the way, :) my manual stated that latex and acrylic based paints can be used but not enamel and oil based paints, it is not stated here what to use in cleaning the roller when using an acrylic based paint. my thinking is that a lacquer thinner or its reducer should be used since acrylic paints cannot be cleaned/removed by water. what do you think?
jun penafort I’d hate to steer you wrong, can you test thinner on the edger rather than the roller? Is there a customer service number you could call to confirm? I’d feel awful if your tools got ruined. Thank you for watching and commenting!
😂 the 'stick' you used obviously wasn't made for the Paint Runner Pro. You either buy one of their's or use a broom handle. Not sure where you got yours from. But, the extended handle is only needed when painting high, or the ceiling, not when you're level with the wall. You are also supposed to wash the roller before the first use. After all the initial complaining, you seem to have got on well with it anyway.
The issue isn’t with the product more like the paint and the surface that you’re painting. Get your walls plastered first and it will be much easier...
Austin Baudrillard I have used this several times and didn’t have those problems. There are slight streaks on the cinder block wall, but this paint really requires two coats because it’s runny.
Lisa Marie Sure! It was an ad I saw on Facebook for the Paint Runner Pro. I believe there are several knockoffs so that could be the reason reviews are mixed. Using this on a ceiling seems to be the worst application but I thought overall it’s a time saver/less messy.
AdamOutdoors Sorry! Meaning that I often take the same footage and use it on IGTV, Facebook, TikTok, etc. They are set up for vertical video formatting. I guess I figure if someone wants to watch here in full screen, they don’t have to turn their phone sideways. If I’m strictly filming for TH-cam only, it’s horizontal. Hope that makes sense.
@@Jennyfromtheshop Ah I see/understand. I've just always thought it looks extremely odd looking on YT when people choose to set phone vertical to record video/limiting field of view. On alternative is to simply record horizontally as normal then crop/remove sides to turn it into vertical for other formats. This way you can keep full source video intact and still have exact same video as this for the other formats.
I do understand the idea of this paint roller but why all the videos about it in TH-cam made by people who sees the paint for the 1st time in their life?
Hi Is It ok to Call you by Jennifer, I hope you are all coping at this terrible time and the situation we are all placed under and hope you all remain both strong and positive, I was just thinking and watching your video, I have also the Paint Runner Pro, and have checked the paper work that came with it, i have not noticed any spelling or mistakes also I found the device a great tool, without sounding out of place Is It possible you received a clone type made by a foreign rip off company.
Richard Haseley Hi Richard! Yes, you can call me Jennifer or Jen. I posted this video a while ago, maybe they saw my video and corrected the errors. Lol Mine was the Paint Runner Pro but I’ve seen a bunch of knock offs advertised on Facebook. Overall I think it’s a time saver and liked it. What did you think?
I bought the exact same model as this and at first it was ok, although you don't get as much paint on the wall vs a standard roller, but it started leaking and leaving lines on the second use. Absolute rubbish and no wonder there are so many bad reviews.
My directions didn’t say anything about diluting the paint and the first stuff I used was already really runny. I think there must be different versions of this product in varying quality.
Hi. Brand new subscriber here. I just wanted to offer a respectful suggestion. The volume of your voice is pretty low so you might want to consider either being closer to your recording device or wear one of those wireless microphones like some others who also have a TH-cam channel do. I like your videos.
Thanks for subscribing and I totally agree! I don’t like to watch my earlier videos because I see all of the mistakes, like filming too far away, etc. I still make mistakes, just new ones. Lol
It does actually say in the instruction to use emulsions only. So I feel this review is not helpful if not used in the way the manufacturers instructions depict
Legend RockPlot I hope you have good results too. The only thing I would say is it’s a little expensive for the quality, but it did work for me. I almost wish they’d give you two of the rollers without all the other fluff.
So you really need a handle to reach those very high blocks there.? 😂😂😂😂.....infomercial I'd say more ripoffamercial. And the pole is extra available on the Website.
Stephen Whiting Considering the plastic handle is the width of one of my hands, yes. A smaller pole attachment would be helpful but this ended up getting in my way during this trial run that’s why I removed it.
You do realize it took you a while to apply 4 to 5 coats of paint just to a three foot section of cinder block? For a roller to require that many coats in such a small amount of wall does not show a good product. And I saw the dripping line of paint you have to go over again at 13:53. I would never buy this product. You get a better quality product with a paint stick than this thing.
Returning Shadow Have you ever painted cinder block? It’s not fun because it’s porous, you’d have to make several passes with ANY roller. Also, this paint was thinner than traditional paint because it’s for basement walls, that’s why it was dripping. I gave my honest opinion of this product. I prefer it over the old style but not everyone is going to agree.
@@Jennyfromtheshop I wasted a whole day Painting my lounge ceiling. It was the worst finish I had ever seen. In fact it was so bad that high street TV gave me my money back and didn't even want the roller back. It's a con. If you want to prove me wrong come and paint my lounge ceiling and if the finish is acceptable I'll give £1000 to charity.
Roy Gregory I have no clue who high street tv is or if you bought this from the same manufacturer I did, but I’m sorry you didn’t have a good experience with it. I did give an honest review, as I always do.
Roy Gregory I am not getting paid, I figured that is what you were implying or assumed. The only money I have made from the countless hours of creating videos for three years is ad revenue from views (just started receiving this month) which isn’t enough to even pay for my purchase of this product. I could’ve easily said it was crap but what you see in my video is an accurate account of my experience with it. I liked it and continue to use it. It could’ve been sturdier, which I state, but it did make the job easier, faster and less messy.
Now this is a real review. She knows what she's doing not like the other videos. 👌
😂😂😂
the trick is you need to use thick paint and not airy paint

Secondly, I get what you mean about quality, it’s almost fragile! 😅🙈 Of course one of the children stepped on the main roller and it went “CRUNCH”, but sprang back to shape! Some of its ‘ribs’ for want of a better word, are cracked/snapped but remain in the right tunnel/curved shape and I was still able to finish the wall! Awesome 😎 I’m yet to use the other bits for corners and skirting. I’ve an entire house to do 😩
Oh and rolling it on paper for about 10 minutes got almost nothing for me. I filled it more then went straight to the wall - voila, the paint suddenly started to appear and soak the roller.
Just bought Myne today direct from highstreet TV
@@Jennyfromtheshop I am changing my grade to D. I tried using the edge roller again and it broke.
Have you used the edger? Does it require tape prep like traditional rollers?
HeSpeaksVolumes I did but not around trim/casing like what you’d find in a typical room. I used it in my basement and did not use painter’s tape, which is a pain and has its own issues.
@@Jennyfromtheshop I'm going to use it tomorrow and didn't feel like taping the baseboards and door trims🤣🤣
@@Jennyfromtheshop I will definitely let you know. Thank you for the wonderful review btw💙
Try it wall or ceiling it leaves lines I had to sand them all out its useless.
I Know the instructions say not to use enamel paint but that's what I have. Would anybody know the reason why? I was so ready to finish the office I almost cried when I read that.
B.B. Adams Maybe it’s because of cleanup? I’m not sure that’s the correct answer, that’s a guess.
B.B.Adams did brush work with enamel paint??
B Em not really, it was thick and didn't roll out smoothly. I finally gave up and used a regular roller
Great video... Thank you
Did it splatter at all?
I filmed this several years ago but I don’t recall that being an issue.
It looks so-so but nothing like the infomercial that's for sure
Thanks for the review I saw others and they filled me with dread lol
Hahaha!
Is it easy to clean for the use of second time.
Easy enough, I guess? Clean up is always dreadful when it comes to painting. What I did like was being able to scoop the excess out and I took the sprayer from my sink (bucket placed in my sink) and blasted the paint from the inside out. One plus, there’s no paint tray to clean.
Great rewiev.İ took advantage of it from Turkey
Tolga Tolga Hello to 🇹🇷 from the 🇺🇸!
Is it working with water based paint??
Yes, I don’t believe oil based is recommended.
Really you are so cute love you from lahore Pakistan
Hello from the US! Thanks for the nice comment.
very helpful thankyou!
lesley brown Glad to hear it, thank you!
thanks itś helpful
this paint roller use for enamel and latex? thanks
JULIUS FONTANILLA I used latex. 👍
JULIUS FONTANILLA Just latex so you can wash it out. 👍
@@Jennyfromtheshop okay thanks
Can I use it to paint a glass or a mirror?
Hi Anthony, I’m not sure I understand what you mean. You would use this product anywhere you would use a traditional paint roller.
Where to buy

😂 the 'stick' you used obviously wasn't made for the Paint Runner Pro. You either buy one of their's or use a broom handle. Not sure where you got yours from. But, the extended handle is only needed when painting high, or the ceiling, not when you're level with the wall. You are also supposed to wash the roller before the first use.
After all the initial complaining, you seem to have got on well with it anyway.
The issue isn’t with the product more like the paint and the surface that you’re painting. Get your walls plastered first and it will be much easier...
Why? Its supposed to be able to be used on any surface. That's the whole point.
Mac10 it’s not a magic wand, you have to prepare what your painting correctly or it’ll never work
Dont u need to dilute paint before use this?
pathum sameera The directions didn’t say anything about diluting the paint. I personally wouldn’t.
Have you used it anymore!? I've seen other peeps say it leaves streaks and runs in walls, dis you find this? Thanks for review, very good!!! X
Austin Baudrillard I have used this several times and didn’t have those problems. There are slight streaks on the cinder block wall, but this paint really requires two coats because it’s runny.
@@Jennyfromtheshop thanks for that Jennifer x
😍😍😍😍😍 Amazing Woman 🥰
I hated it. I put the handle and on the first pass, the handle broke and the roller fell to the ground and cracked. so much for my luck
Could you please paint my house?
May I ask where you ordered this from?
Amazon sell it, search Yllee paint roller on Amazon.
Lisa Marie Sure! It was an ad I saw on Facebook for the Paint Runner Pro. I believe there are several knockoffs so that could be the reason reviews are mixed. Using this on a ceiling seems to be the worst application but I thought overall it’s a time saver/less messy.
So everyone is ignoring my comment?
Wave Rider86 Not trying to ignore you! Sometimes I don’t see every comment. Thank you!
@@Jennyfromtheshop Yeah If it seems like I am annoyed I am going through a lot at the moment.
9:50 you're in terrible position to be painting that wall. That's why it looks so awkward.
I’m awkward in general! 🤣
Brand name pls.
Hi! Paint Runner Pro.
Confused as to why you recorded vertically?
AdamOutdoors Because all the other platforms I’m on are set up for horizontal footage.
@@Jennyfromtheshop What do you mean?
BAU Lol, you called it! 🤣
I didn’t have that problem, but what a bummer!
youre wrists need to be stronger and the pole has to fit tightly then its much easier
Simon Nicolas Costa. Born Coster Maybe that’s it, my wrists are shot from making flags!
What a lovely lady!
Why would you use a poll .
Better leverage. The plastic handle was a little small to grip both hands with if I remember right. (Video was shot over a year ago.)
@@Jennyfromtheshop ok thanks
The threads are metric. LoL🤣🤣🤣. ❤️
Aren't you supposed to add 80% paint and 20% water
Lol
ur paint is to thick.u have to dilute it with a little water
I hand paint faster then that roller..will not repeat will not buy this.
You'd be able to hand paint faster with a toothbrush than this roller.
Thank goodness I watched this, thanks 4 the vid. Wat a piece of junk, will def giv this a big miss!
It does actually say in the instruction to use emulsions only. So I feel this review is not helpful if not used in the way the manufacturers instructions depict
ChelleKT1 Both paints were water based.
I'm confused I watched some other bird doing this and it leaked everywhere
That's what I read in some of the reviews as well, but it didn't leak for me once.
@@Jennyfromtheshop I mite have to invest then give it a go
Legend RockPlot I hope you have good results too. The only thing I would say is it’s a little expensive for the quality, but it did work for me. I almost wish they’d give you two of the rollers without all the other fluff.
I saw that one too and I'm wondering if it was because she washed hers and maybe it was a bit wet already when she added the paint?
So you really need a handle to reach those very high blocks there.? 😂😂😂😂.....infomercial I'd say more ripoffamercial. And the pole is extra available on the Website.
Stephen Whiting Considering the plastic handle is the width of one of my hands, yes. A smaller pole attachment would be helpful but this ended up getting in my way during this trial run that’s why I removed it.
@@Jennyfromtheshop sorry yes I can see how that would of been helpful.
Stephen Whiting No problem!!! ❤️🙌
★★★
B
I've seen enough demos of this by now, to know that is it SHITE waste of money.
I liked it. Everyone else is overreacting in my opinion for views. I have a paint sprayer now but if I needed to use a roller I’d use this.
It's crap don't waste your money
Jamie Forrester I gave my honest opinion and have nothing to gain either way.
@@Jennyfromtheshop I was only passing my personal experience with the roller, wasn't criticising you in any any way!!
Jamie Forrester No worries! Thank you for watching and you’re completely entitled to your opinion. ❤️
@@Jennyfromtheshop come and do mine if ya want?😁
Do not buy this product. It sucks
Roy Gregory You’re completely entitled to your opinion, I preferred it over the traditional roller.
@@Jennyfromtheshop if you're getting paid to demonstrate and advertise this product, stop. You'll damage your reputation.
