@@usakenvi stopped watching at episode 1. He literally stabbed himself to see if he would die (to check if he was a ghoul), a lose-lose scenario. While in the manga, he had a plan to stab himself in the donated organ to ruin it. He also contacted his friend to make sure he would be there in a few. @@TheRealOtakuEdits I don't think so, they made a decent adaptation out of a visual novel like Steins gate. Written words aren't a big deal because most of the anime are adapted from LNs
Naaah. I mean, the anime might be a terrible adaptation, but it's a terrible adaptation of an already terrible story. The author woud have to be pretty shameless to complain that someone "ruined his masterpiece" or something like that. I don't think you could have made a good version of that trainwreck.
4:55 In the LN he remembers AFTER eating the monster meat that everyone that has ever attempted to eat monster meat died a very painful death. Also instead of burying the wolves alive as he did in the anime but instead traps them inside a wall and the basically drills through them with a spear.
Wasn't he also extremely hungry in the LN? Like he had gone weeks without food? (at least that what I've been seeing people say) I could see him forgetting that detail lol
@Homer Simpson He was down there for 10 days having had nothing to eat or drink but the holy water, which didn't quench his thirst or hunger pains but merely prevented him from dying while he was wracked with phantom limb pain. It was supposed to be pure torture.
So a highly anticipated adaptation releases character designs, the fanbase looses their sh*t. The studio panics, does a redesign and pushes back the release.. and the result ends up being one of the worst things in the medium? I mean... nahhh... It's not like it'll happen again, right? #GottaFixFast
@@joseagustincuesta ah... see while the LN started publishing in 2015, the webnovel was written back in 2009, and when SAO hit, and interest in japanese light novels/web novels spiked stateside, this was one of the first finished web novels translated, so it gathered a pretty big fanbase (for the web novel), of course it existed basically in a vacuum with slowly translated SAO books and overlord books to hold people over, so while it was mediocrity personified, it still managed to gather a moderately sizable fanbase. I am not ashamed to say, I was one of those morons enjoying the heck out of the webnovel. not because it was well written, but because it was pure wish fulfillment on a scale I had never experienced before. It was so novel an experience I just had to finish the story, sort of like watching a nascar crash. Nascar might be boring as all heck, but sometimes you've got nothing better to do on a sunday afternoon, except watch cars turn left 2000 times, until one of them blows a tire and takes out half the field. It's horrible and fascinating on such a level you forget you just wasted 3 hours watching a boring car race and get that momentary thrill at the disaster spread out all over the track. That was Arifureta to me. In japan it's like the 20'th ranked light novel (by sales) so it has some readers. So I'm sure this anime was anticipated by quite a few people. That's what makes this train-wreck all the more hilarious. No one who read Arifureta was expecting more then a popcorn munching brainless romp, at it's best. I don't think anyone was expecting Berserk (new) from this team. Hilariously terrible.
I want a Trapped-in-a-Dating-Sim anime, where the ultimate goal of the protagonist is to get the tsundere to say "It's not like I like you or anything, B-Baka."
There actualy is an isekai set in a fantasy dating sim and the mc is not the protag of that game. The Games protagonist is a girl while hes reincarnated as a side character with a joke ending.
That is just the list of web novel on that website. The Shosetsuka website itself never restricted to only isekai genre, just that many isekai stories are posted there.
@@newamber6049 Eh I didn't even notice the red underline, haha. I still can't make sense what those underline supposed to mean, seemingly they missed a lot of currently airing isekai stories like maou-sama retry and log horizon...
Give it a year or so and light novel covers will be literally indistinguishable from clickbait youtube thumbnails, complete with caps-locked full sentence titles and little red arrows pointing at the waifu's tits.
More like the fault of capitalism where art pieces are treated as products and everyone is incentivized to chase trends in order to sell as much as possible instead of aiming for quality. Don't hate the player, hate the game. Well... I guess in the case of SAO and Arifureta you can hate the player too...
@@lhumanoideerrantdesinterne8598 I understand the point of the tangent, but it's fun to think of the flood of shitty Isekais being a direct result SAO, intentional or not. We'll always have companies trying to chase trends in any industry.
MrMisticZ read them both to a degree, and I tend to find it far more entertaining to watch digi rip it to shreds. Only thing in a show that made me laugh at the badness was a scene in goblin slayer where a scene was meant to be super intense and heart pounding, but it just zoomed in on some guy, a scream was laid over a still, blurry image and speed lines were added. The funniest shit.
>Light novelist complains that the show doesn't look good enough for him. >Causes a troubled production where the anime adaptation gets a downgrade in studio >They release the absolute worst anime adaptation anyone could hope for That's some karma.
This just looks like bad Shield Hero, not that Shield Hero is perfect by any means but at least it explains to you what's going on pretty well, and has an edgelord character that is entertaining to watch.
The anger from shield hero is seen as a curse, sure he might get stronger, but its corruptive and hurts even those he loves as well. Its not just a quick get stronk method by being edgy and angery.
@@bonfist7277 Plus shield bro does have to work for his powers and status, and it was entertaining to see the progress, if someone just gets an OP power because then its not very fun.
In terms of soruce content, arifureta is mediocre throughout (up to most recent volume), whereas shield hero starts mediocre, gets mildly interesting, and then plummets into retarded isekai trash with one of the worst endings of any isekai trash novels. Slime also goes to complete shit in the web novel. In the end, they're all very similar to eachother in the tropes, conflicts, development, et cetera. Shield hero just happened to do it better in the anime, most likely due to production problems. The explanations and shield evolution system is completely contrived and nonsensical, just as much as his powers are in this series. Which is to say there's barely any explanation, he just has convenient powers at convenient times. Shield hero had better production value (most likely, as digibro mentions, due to production issues with Arifureta), but in terms of actual plot and story telling they're not that far off.
@Cameron Mendez Well, trust me. As somebody who's a superfan, books are the only real meaningful way to go. To only watch the anime is doing a disservice to the author's work... you can watch the god-awful anime after you read the novels and see it for the dumpster fire it is and know how it feels to be truly wronged by this insulting adaptation.
To be fair every anime genre is oversaturated and the only difference is there is a very large audience ready to lap up isekai or shonen no matter the quality while some other genres have pickier watchers.
IIRC, a comment on a previous video said that the flesh of these monsters is poisonous, or for some other reason are very dangerous/painful to eat. So, the guy is saying he'll put himself through hell in order to survive. ...Which still fails, since again, that's something anyone would be willing to do. I saw an episode of one of those survival shows once where people drank dirty, muddy water that had been pissed and shit in by animals because they would have died otherwise.
I actually read the entirety of the WN for Arifureta years ago when i was going through a 'Binge on shit isekai' phase. I wish i could have those hours back so i could watch Digi tear through it with a fresh take on the atrocity of this story. That said, i wholeheartedly agree with the 'So bad its hilarious' judgement.
This went from "Why Arifureta is Awesomely Bad" to "Why I'm Tired of Isekai Anime" then back to "Why Arifureta is Awesomely Bad" all over again. Still an entertaining video.
Aki it’s funny because the bullet was supposed to do quite the number to it’s head, either blowing it completely off, or part of it, like a fucking railgun would, but no. It just goes half an inch in and kills a Bear that’s supposed to be scarier than anything seen before. It’s an insult to the bear and the gun, and I hate it.
digi dude, wtf is goin' on ??? last year you would take like a month or so to put out a video like this, now your just shooting out really good and well made videos, keep it up with this amazing work man
man, i will never understand how these effing isekai shows are soo popular, personally i cant stand fantasy-style animes, which 90% of isekais are...so they always bore me to death
It's mostly young teenaged kids or casual viewers that rate these shows so highly. I'm not saying that in a 'these fuckin plebs am i rite man' kinds tone, but for the most part they're just looking to watch something vaguely cool and doesn't require too much effort to get into. Hell, this show's the laughing stock of the season, but go to any discus forum on an illegal streaming site hosting this show and you'll see comments from kids saying "Yet another solid isekai. Can't wait to see where the show goes"
I don't mind "fantasy-style" anime, but when that translates to most isekai taking place in the same world that I have a problem with it. having all the same old fantasy races being carbon copies of DnD all the time is real annoying. I don't mind it in goblin slayer, since it literally is DnD. I don't have too many problems with shield hero (except off brand chocobos and the always stupid "human/animal hybrid that are so very much not human, also it's like every animal. so half whale/half humans are the same race as half duck/half humans, but humans are just different, also racism as seen by children")
the problem is most of them don't realy DO anything with it really, aside from like one gimmick to set itself apart the majority of them are power fantasies with overpowered heroes who have extended harems. Log Horizon, Shield Hero, Tanya the Evil, Konosuba and to an extent Overlord and Re:Zero (and possibly Slime and Spider) are basically the best ones in the genre, really. Everythign else is either mediocre or godawful
It's worse than that; as the lightning and glowing implies, the revolver is supposed to be a railgun. With the wolves' lightning as the power source. It's one of those fanfics where if you can describe what you want to do in the broadest possible terms, your character can easily do it, no matter how difficult it is in reality.
I feel like by this point my entire relationship with anime has become a cycle of checking on a couple of ani-tubers every three months to see if Isekai still exists, realizing that Isekai still exists, and deleting all ties to the medium from my brain until the cycle recurses. The persistence of the genre has broken down my ability to form meaningful chronological memories of its members. It seems like goblin slayer and shield hero and the slime one were all released at the same amorphous instant of time, which is only defined as coming after the similarly nebulous era in which re:Zero and Konosuba briefly existed. SAO happened at some point. Maybe it's still happening? I don't fucking know. I just want to listen to Digi complain about some bullshit.
You sold me to this anime. First the monster ramming its head into the ground slowly, then the bullet in the bears forehead. I burst out laughing my ass off.
Usually I really like crazy expressions anime characters make but in this case the MC looks absolutly horrible when he grins. And at some shots, even frikkin hilarious. I remember that Subaru from Re:Zero had sometimes very strange, laughable expressions, too but here I feel like they didn't want to achieve the same effect.
Just read the manga and it is definitely not as bad as the anime looks. Yikes edit: That said, I wouldn’t exactly call the manga worthy of the time either. There are lots of better shows and manga to consume than this.
the manga is complete trash aswell he just becomes a generic op edgelord with a harem doing nothing interesting and just being edgy the whole time. I managed to get pretty far into it on pure drunkness and even then I could stand it anymore a bit further in. he gets an eyepatch btw and it's so blatantly ripped of from tokyo ghoul it's hilarious
@@army128 if all isekai has to be is "fantasy world" then ALL anime is an isekai, even Neon Genesis Evangelion. A fantasy world where giant "angels" fight against the Mechs that humans possess. To be an isekai in my mind, there has to be KNOWLEDGE OF ANOTHER WORLD. If you only know of the one world, even if it is not the world of Earth, there is no Isekai. The Mortals of Danmachi only know of the world they live in. they cannot go to the Godly World. Now to the GODS of Danmachi, the series may be an isekai, but they are supporting characters, not the focus (that is on the humans).
To summarize the entire plot I'm fed up with this world everyone betrayed me. When that's not really the case it was only 1 person. But f*** those other guys. And the planet and everybody else that lives on it.
I'm really hoping we get some of the Chinese variants of this LN craze someday. Those are fucking hilarious. "You kick my dog? I murder your entire family and genocide your peoples in revenge, so that you will rue the day you crossed me."
Because it's VRYBAD, I fell obliged to light out all the grey zone stuff the anime don't explain : - he spend smthg like a week to tens day experiencing phantom pain from his missing limb AND the everlasting hunger because the Holly stone keep it alive while he's still buried in his hideout, hence why he resort to consume monster meat and he's almost driven insane (wishing to die but in the same time be reluctant to let himself die for real) - he trap a pack of two-tail wolf (4 in total, where are the two others actually), in the walls of the cave and pitfall, which is actually a use for transmutation which has never been thought of in the first place by the resident of tortus (don't ask me why, my best guess is that they're actually dumb af, but it could be because Synergist is supposed to be a crafting job and non-combat related) - he recall himself that eating monster flesh is lethal only after eating the pit-falled two-tail wolf, and only survive because the Holly stone is the most powerful (and extremely rare) healing item of tortus, basically being the sole human having ever survived it. - he spend several days at making Donner, falling something like 100s of attempts before, and it's actually not a gun, but a rail-gun using his lightning ability given by the two-tail wolf, enhancing a whole lot the penetration power of the projectile fired, hence why he os everything without explanation - he eat the claw bear arms just ahead of him because, well, is kinda edgelly insane, and want to make him experiencing the same trauma while overcoming is own. But yeah, that was apparently too hard to make it this way. Apparently. I know, I'm pissed. But only because of the show though.
"he spend smthg like a week to tens day experiencing phantom pain from his missing limb AND the everlasting hunger" I wonder how the manga portrayed that. Because, if I was in charge of the anime, I'd spend at least 15 minutes of him doing nothing else but writhing in pain and hunger pangs, constantly screaming, moaning, rocking about, incoherently mumbling revenge on everyone, perhaps adding in some of those cheesy fast-forwards like in the SAW franchise. Only then would I show him going out to fight the wolves in a dramatic battle that would act as cathartic given the content of the rest of the episode. Only to end with the cliffhanger that eating the wolf meat infects him and starts scrambling his vitality. Of course, such an episode could only be shown in the middle of the season, after the setting and the context had been established.
@@roadent217 I won't say just look on manga freak, no, i won't say it. And to bounce on your comment, it would have been just so duckin easier to set up the story with a proper introduction and presentation of the cast, the world of tortus and why Hajime had draw the short straw while all his class are superhuman and cliffhanger it at the fall. The curtain would have been pull up properly at least. Done has this, we don't even know that Hajime as a clear goal in life and want to come back at all cost (he help both of his parents which are shoujo writer and game developper and his skilled in it too), that all of his class bully him becuz Kaori-the-hot-chick has a crush on him and he's not interested and that they're all in this war becuz Kouki-the-self-proclaim-righteous as said "we have power so we have responsibility now" despite the fact that their teacher is against it. They just exploded the world building of the show becuz it was cooler that Hajime got kaneki'd in the first 20 min. Duh.
I’m really glad you enjoy this, because most people I talk to hate it. I personally had a lot of fun with the first episode. It’s the perfect amount of edge for me . Most anime with edgy characters try to redeem those characters, send the message that the world isn’t bad. The real fun of edgelords isn’t that though, it’s in the high levels of self pity that lead to an over the top power trip. If you ever saw Linebarrels of Iron, the beginning of the show is the main character being constantly bullied, he then gets super powers and goes on a rampage of revenge. Fuck the high road, he gets straight up cathartic revenge on everyone. That immoral self absorption is so emotionally charged, I just love it. Shield Hero was too much gloom for me in the beginning. Someone hits you, you don’t cry about it, you murder their whole family. Obviously we can’t do that irl, it would just make things much worse for ourselves, but that’s why we have fiction, to release those feelings of frustration.
In the light novel its explained afterwards that eating monsters is a stupid idea, but the point was to convey that he's so hungry that he's lost his sanity, something the anime does not convey at all. I'm pretty sure that he traps the wolves by like encasing their heads and limbs into stone so they can't fight back, and drills into them with a rock drill he transmuted. There's also just a bunch of other shit that would've been easily explained if given some time and exposition. In all honesty it would've been better if that bear was taken care of in the 3rd episode. If you find a flaw just think "he's an otaku" He's still edgelord supreme though.
I checked the manga out b/c the synopsis on MAL didn't sound like every modern isekai ever. Glad I did. The anime PVs don't look super promising though... let's just hope it sticks to the story at least

It IS battle shoene. Battle shonen being isekai is nothing new too, and has been done countless time. The trend after SAO is more about HIGH SCHOOL or COLLEGE STUDENT MALE transfer to another RPG WORLD. That's the trend that keeps popping up after SAO.

@@boobah5643 I'm referring to isekai more as a modernized genre rather than story trope I mean like the kind that that involves some sort of harem and references otaku culture and of course video games and RPG,the same tropes that are present in Goblin Slayer which is why people have called it native isekai.By definition stuff like Digimon and Narnia are isekai but they don't really represent the subculture found in light novels.
This show has parts of multiple other Isekai stories and that is settled. He gets the "worse stats" and is then betrayed by them and thrown into a dungeon. In this dungeon monsters are really strong, and he survives by eating his first enemy and gainin his powers. He then gets a cool revolver, and goes on to become edgyer and edgyer as the manga progresses. At some point his hair is died white too. What is up with those anime titles, even scientific essays have much shorter titles ffs. I would say the titles show how little the creator cared for his project, but there are good animes out there that has long titles as a JOKE. For example, A world where dirty jokes don't exist.
In the Arifureta webnovel, the dynamics between MC and his friends and the sheer impact of betrayal when it happens was so high that you actually felt for the MC. Like in Shield Hero. However, the Arifureta anime didn't capitalize on that. Too bad!
Ascendance of a Bookworm is the only isekai series I genuinely love out of everything being pushed right now with Bakarina a close second. The animation quality in the trailer has me worried though. I wish the company that did Snow White of the Red Hair had done Bookworm. But hopefully it'll be better than Arifureta!
I gave the manga adaptation a chance after I heard about the anime's announcement on MAL. I hadn't read a modern isekai story before this one, so I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it! I don't have too many hopes on the anime due to the animation quality on the trailer, but if it's going to follow the original story accurately then I think it'll be worth waiting for.

I can't express how disappointed I am at this adaptation. I was excited when the anime was announced as the light novels where one of the first I picked up, and i really enjoyed them (not because the excessive amount of fan service though that plays its part), I only prayed that the adaptation would do the base material justice. Sadly my worst fears have come to pass concerning Arifureta. Just about everything you pointed out in these videos is spot on: directing and story boards are so muddled that even though I've read the material, it still confused me, artwork and the 3D animation is worse than a show from A1, I would complain more but I'll move on.Two days ago you mentioned in your anime season first impressions video that arifureta was going to be the trashy isekai of the season, I truly hoped you would be wrong, sadly you hit the nail on the head. The only thing I can do to salvage the rep of the base material is to tell you to go read it, all in Hope's that you see that it had (emphasis on had) potential. The adaptation is an atrocious and disgusting abomination, and I'm sorry that the first impression this left was so horrid. Thanks for all the great videos so keep up the hard work, and hope the next time one of my favorite light novels gets adapted, it actually does it justice.
Well, this episode isn't done by the white fox studio, it was actually done by second studio asread, as we all know asread doesn't have a any good reputation for adapting anime other than future dairy ( the first episode was planned to be a one hour special, but at the last moment it was taken over by the asread ) Important to note that the White Fox twitter account never shared anything related to Arifureta since the first anime announcement. The only staff member related to W-Fox is Shigeyuki Korewasa but here he works under the name of his own company (Digital Noise) with his team
well since digi dint adress it himself now im left wondering you see, somewhere in the ep arifukaneki says the bear bit of my arm. maybe that was just a translation mistake from where i watched it, but i annoyed me as the bear clearly sliced of his arm before eating it. in the manga the bear did bite of his arm, but it didnt happen in the anime so was this just a sub error or script error??
The only problem with that anime is behind the scenes fuckery that ruins the Action for that anime. But it does add context to Hack before the first Game starts. So that hits home.

That lightning effect looks so cheap too, it looks alright when the wolves use it, but when he uses it it just look like a premade effect, just like the flames at the start. My personal experience with Arifureta is limited to the LN, which I dropped around Vol 3. The anime definitily has it harder since it came out after "Shield Hero", which told a similar concept much better. The biggest problem with Arifureta imo is, that the MC (I forgit his name and tbh I don't care enough about it to look it up) becomes completly unlikeable for me. First: He fullfills many Iseaki tropes: he only has the base stats while any other have higher (why?), besides the one girl who will become part of his harem down the line (that's a prediction, not a fact, since it didn't happen in the LN at the point I dropped it) gives a **** about his situation and anything. He becomes super powerful without doing much (simply by consuming enemies) because he is lucky. His class is the only one that allows him to create his weapons and so on. That all could be seen as just another Isekai, if the dude didn't become completly unlikeable. Which could be stated to come from the treatment he experienced in this new world, but that doesn't chance the fact, that becoming someone who believes that power is everything makes him a likeable character. Instead he comes across as mean and at the end I simply wanted someone (*insert head fanfiction with any character you Like - best option would be an edgelord*) to come in and punch him in the face. And once I realised that I couldn't like the MC, Arifureta died for me. Don't know how the Anime will fare, but at the moment, the LN still is enough to let me make a big way around it.
the sad thing is I don't remember the monster meat being covered in the LN (and im reading it right now since its done translating) if I remember correctly he was so hungry his brain didn't remember the common knowledge of this world and didn't reflect on it till afterwards.....I don't remember a scene of them actually explaining it being toxic other than that one

So a highly anticipated adaptation releases character designs, the fanbase looses their sh*t. The studio panics, does a redesign and pushes back the release.. and the result ends up being one of the worst things in the medium?

#GottaFixFast
heh
Maybe it's jut me but "highly anticipated" is not how I'd put it, I certainly had never heard of this shit until I saw it on MAL.

IIRC, a comment on a previous video said that the flesh of these monsters is poisonous, or for some other reason are very dangerous/painful to eat. So, the guy is saying he'll put himself through hell in order to survive.
...Which still fails, since again, that's something anyone would be willing to do. I saw an episode of one of those survival shows once where people drank dirty, muddy water that had been pissed and shit in by animals because they would have died otherwise.

man, i will never understand how these effing isekai shows are soo popular,
personally i cant stand fantasy-style animes, which 90% of isekais are...so they always bore me to death
I don't have too many problems with shield hero (except off brand chocobos and the always stupid "human/animal hybrid that are so very much not human, also it's like every animal. so half whale/half humans are the same race as half duck/half humans, but humans are just different, also racism as seen by children")
its for young japanese boys... its relatable for them because it has game mechanics.
the problem is most of them don't realy DO anything with it really, aside from like one gimmick to set itself apart the majority of them are power fantasies with overpowered heroes who have extended harems. Log Horizon, Shield Hero, Tanya the Evil, Konosuba and to an extent Overlord and Re:Zero (and possibly Slime and Spider) are basically the best ones in the genre, really. Everythign else is either mediocre or godawful
i'd say all of the top 10 anime are fantasy (if these are even top 10).. dbz, naruto, onepiece, fairy tail, bleach, attack on titan, etc
I'm sure the reason he can make guns is because the wolves were a family of expert gunsmiths.

I just want to listen to Digi complain about some bullshit.
just wanna be a stickler and point out that goblin slayer is not an isekai
You sold me to this anime. First the monster ramming its head into the ground slowly, then the bullet in the bears forehead. I burst out laughing my ass off.

Just for clarification during the Isekai segment 11:25 you shown Danmachi, which is just a fantasy series and not an Isekai.
Same difference

If you only know of the one world, even if it is not the world of Earth, there is no Isekai.
The Mortals of Danmachi only know of the world they live in. they cannot go to the Godly World.

Welp, there goes my lungs.
Because it's VRYBAD, I fell obliged to light out all the grey zone stuff the anime don't explain :
- he spend smthg like a week to tens day experiencing phantom pain from his missing limb AND the everlasting hunger because the Holly stone keep it alive while he's still buried in his hideout, hence why he resort to consume monster meat and he's almost driven insane (wishing to die but in the same time be reluctant to let himself die for real)
- he trap a pack of two-tail wolf (4 in total, where are the two others actually), in the walls of the cave and pitfall, which is actually a use for transmutation which has never been thought of in the first place by the resident of tortus (don't ask me why, my best guess is that they're actually dumb af, but it could be because Synergist is supposed to be a crafting job and non-combat related)
- he recall himself that eating monster flesh is lethal only after eating the pit-falled two-tail wolf, and only survive because the Holly stone is the most powerful (and extremely rare) healing item of tortus, basically being the sole human having ever survived it.
- he spend several days at making Donner, falling something like 100s of attempts before, and it's actually not a gun, but a rail-gun using his lightning ability given by the two-tail wolf, enhancing a whole lot the penetration power of the projectile fired, hence why he os everything without explanation
- he eat the claw bear arms just ahead of him because, well, is kinda edgelly insane, and want to make him experiencing the same trauma while overcoming is own.
But yeah, that was apparently too hard to make it this way. Apparently.
I know, I'm pissed. But only because of the show though.
"he spend smthg like a week to tens day experiencing phantom pain from his missing limb AND the everlasting hunger"
I wonder how the manga portrayed that.
Obviously we can’t do that irl, it would just make things much worse for ourselves, but that’s why we have fiction, to release those feelings of frustration.
that bullet getting stuck in the bears skull in this way and his eyes going blank actually made me laugh out loud when watching this show.
If you find a flaw just think "he's an otaku"
He's still edgelord supreme though.

Boo Bah SAO is more of a science fantasy show than an action series. It barely has any action.
This show has parts of multiple other Isekai stories and that is settled. Though I will bring something up too, this storie has a good deal of resemblance with Dungeon Seeker: A guy who was a normal school wimp with a "cool girl" as friend, who gets bullied because of said friend, gets transported with the girl and some bullies to another world.
All of those are things I said are from Dungeon Seeker, and they all overlap with Arifureta.

Notice also this fucking cut is THE ONE TIME they got that text overlay out of the way pffffhahahaha
Unpopular Opinion
I love Arifureta for the Story and the Comedy

danmachi and the daughter one isn't even isekai
should have added the fact that when he shoots the bears arm it explodes but when he shoots its head the bullet kinda just slinks into its forehead and just stops even though in every other scene the bullets explode. and that bullet did not go deep enough to kill anything the only thing it would of achieves is pissing off the bear off and making it bleed alot
What is up with those anime titles, even scientific essays have much shorter titles ffs. I would say the titles show how little the creator cared for his project, but there are good animes out there that has long titles as a JOKE. For example, A world where dirty jokes don't exist.
It's a Japanese thing that just doesn't make sense to us.
In the Arifureta webnovel, the dynamics between MC and his friends and the sheer impact of betrayal when it happens was so high that you actually felt for the MC. Like in Shield Hero. However, the Arifureta anime didn't capitalize on that. Too bad!
Btw, if it’s for my daughter, I’d even defeat a demon lord isn’t a isekai because the mc was already on that world in the beginning
"...but a total train wreck is always a good time"
u got me there lmao
"Good luck being healed back from death" *spoiler* It's funny cause the light novel uses this plot, but w/ reversed roles.
Hey Digibro could you talk about Queen's Blade series?
@@chyandinii Do yourself a favor and read the novel. I really recommend Blastron's translation on his tumblr blastron01.tumblr.com/honzuki-contents.
He got to 93 chapters before dropping it (cause he was posting on chapter a week and there's like over 600 chapters. He didn't want to spend years translating.) He does an excellent translations of the web novel and the chapters are pretty long.
I recently finished the official light novel from bookwalker and a lot of changes and edits were made from web novel to light novel. Honestly, the web is better. But the second vol comes out tomorrow and I wanna support the series so I'm still gonna buy and read it.
@@SimplySeraphic - I couldn't really find anything on the LN (I couldn't even find anywhere to buy a physical copy unless I'm just dumb), so thanks for that link! I'll check it out soon.
@@chyandinii Amazon will release the first vol on September 3. Bookwalker is an e-book only store with tons of light novels
@@kimk2029 - sorry for the late reply, but thanks for that info. a bit of a shame tho since im not really into digital copies
I'm so over Isekai and I haven't even watched a single one. Can we please leave this genre behind going forward into 2020?? Please??
People will move forward from Isekai after Super heroes become irrelevant XD
Try Alice in borderland pretty great isekai
...I think Isekai got *more* popular after january 1st.
The only thing I can do to salvage the rep of the base material is to tell you to go read it, all in Hope's that you see that it had (emphasis
on had) potential. The adaptation is an atrocious and disgusting abomination, and I'm sorry that the first impression this left was so horrid.
Thanks for all the great videos so keep up the hard work, and hope the next time one of my favorite light novels gets adapted, it actually does it justice.
Well, this episode isn't done by the white fox studio, it was actually done by second studio asread, as we all know asread doesn't have a any good reputation for adapting anime other than future dairy
( the first episode was planned to be a one hour special, but at the last moment it was taken over by the asread )
Important to note that the White Fox twitter account never shared anything related to Arifureta since the first anime announcement.
The only staff member related to W-Fox is Shigeyuki Korewasa but here he works under the name of his own company (Digital Noise) with his team
You've sold me Digi. I'm looking forward to watching this trainwreck
well since digi dint adress it himself now im left wondering
you see, somewhere in the ep arifukaneki says the bear bit of my arm.
maybe that was just a translation mistake from where i watched it, but i annoyed me as the bear clearly sliced of his arm before eating it. in the manga the bear did bite of his arm, but it didnt happen in the anime
so was this just a sub error or script error??
Even though I love SAO. .Hack//Sign existed before hand, and was amazing (to me.) It sucks it never gets the love it deserves.
The only problem with that anime is behind the scenes fuckery that ruins the Action for that anime. But it does add context to Hack before the first Game starts. So that hits home.
Yo, I haven't read the LN, is the manga worth reading? A lot of people say it sucks...
If you can ignore some similarities with shield hero, I´d say yes. I kinda liked
@@pascaldossenbach1821 Well tbh I don't really care about similarities with other manga such as the one you mentioned, I was just wondering how bad it was in comparison with the LN and if it's worth it.
@@jeremyp.1803 Don´t know about the Light Novel. As I said: I´d say yes
2:31 to 2:40 is the comedy genius I subscribed for
That lightning effect looks so cheap too, it looks alright when the wolves use it, but when he uses it it just look like a premade effect, just like the flames at the start. The lightnings also just stop, as if they were hitting something, like in one of those bubbles that make one's hair frizzle, but they aren't connecting with anything.
Please keep doing these video Digi! Fantastic job!
I want that Sex Worker Isekai adapted, if it turns into a hentai then I see it as an absolute win.
wtf, whats the name of that show!?!... Asking for a friend ;D huehue

Is Angel Beats! the beat isekai?
yes
7:02 - 12:05 Leanr of the dates when popular stories like Overlord, slime or Shield Hero isekais got created, and other stuff (alongside a minor tangent about the supposed death of culture and other stuff i am too lazy to properly summarize). ALSO
Oh my God.... So SWORD ART ONLINE IS ACTUALLY AN ISEKAI?!?!
LOL WHAT BULLETS DON'T WORK THAT WAY. that's hilarious. If bullets just...stop flush against the hole it made in whatever it hit...I wouldn't have to keep spending money on ammo. Just save the brass and extract the goddamn bullet and reload the damn thing.
Give it some mosaic censor nudity and it will be the equivalent of a B film in anime form. 10/10
0:22 Dude, why on earth did you drop the devil is a part timer!? It was surprisingly good.
The source material is pretty good

I JUST REALIZED THAT THEY SKIPPED THE SKIN TEARING SKIN SCENE
the sad thing is I don't remember the monster meat being covered in the LN (and im reading it right now since its done translating) if I remember correctly he was so hungry his brain didn't remember the common knowledge of this world and didn't reflect on it till afterwards.....I don't remember a scene of them actually explaining it being toxic other than that one
