Thank-you for sharing this beautiful video (and the photos). I like Venice and am lucky to be visiting there again later this year. Your video has made me even more excited about the trip. Love your work!

Roman, I love your channel sooo much. I've seen so many long-ass videos with maybe 5 photos in them. You seem to have found just the right balance. No annoying videos about photography without photos, but no video-slideshows either. This video is the perfect example. A video where the photographer doesn't try to influence how the photos are received by chattering incessantly due to his insecurities as a visual artist as if his tongue is going to give his photos a gravitas his skill couldn't. You are not a photographer you are a rebel and a legend. Keep up the good work.

Never been to Venice but seeing this video has really captured my imagination. You have taken so many great street photos away from the tourists and capturing what must be the true Venice. Brilliant video.

Venice is the first place where I've felt that photos were so incredibly easy to take but at the same time so incredibly difficult, so much so that I ended up leaving the camera gear in my room for most of my visit. Still absolutely loved my time there and this video is bringing me right back, just such an interesting place to look at and be in, even with all the tourists. I'll be back there again, hopefully with less apprehension as a photographer.

Two things I personally took away from this video:
I need to start 'respecting' video more. The attention you place on composing your video snippets into "moving pictures" has me realizing maybe I COULD get behind hybridizing my approach more, especially when documenting my travels.
And secondly, and this didn't hit me until around 2/3s of the way through this video, you were in Venice for 30 DAYS! I need to give myself some more leeway when I'm frustrated about coming away with maybe only 1 picture I'm happy with after a weekend trip.
Also, I just finished my first read-through of your book. Great stuff, exactly what I was hoping for from my purchase.

I think the major challenges in Venice are
    1. Crowds or tourists
    2. Lack of local life (except for the outskirts)
    3. Limited space
BUT these are also the advantages in good hands

Think Venice is my favourite place in europe, no cars, no bikes no scooters only walkers, its such a weird change. Its weirdly peaceful.
The light just lands perfectly down the narrow streets and the whole place is beautiful, whether its flooded, full of tourists or a dark abandoned alley. I couldve spent months wandering around.
Lovely work, really takes me back.

Easily one of your better videos. Glad to see you didn't shy away from using B&W at times, in a place that screams color. I am not a regular here on YT videos, but would like to see Tokyo (especially) in this same format. Better yet, any place you go to for an extended period of time, although I understand that this would probably eat up a lot of your time. Liked and subscribed.

0:32 Why do we love the things we do? I also would've shot that scuffed old phone box
1:02 Her foot up makes that shot PERFECT and storytelling-ish. (That's not a word, Roman)
1:27 One towel. But still? We chase it.
3:56 Uh, a bit abrupt. But hey. Made me pay attention.
    4:39 Looking up. Nice.
(I'll stop doing this, but loved it all).
Roman, do you feel that making these short films is AS much a part of you now as the snaps themselves?
    One more, loved 17:42

Just got back from Venice last week, weather not as good as yours (when did you go?) Been twice this year and love it, will be going again next year and taking many photos with Leica Q3 and M10 (I did have Fuji,s) Venice is great away from the crowds and very easy to get lost in Oh and the food and wine are pretty good too, love it. I’d love to spend 30 days in Venice but I don’t have enough sd cards. Keep up the great videos.

Roman, can you please explain why the option to program custom settings was removed from the X-H2S? I previously had the XT5, where I could quickly switch between film simulations using the left pad, which was really convenient. However, this isn't possible with the X-H2S due to the seven custom dials. Why not keep both options? It feels counterintuitive, especially for a hybrid camera that is designed for both photography and videography. For me, three of those dials are dedicated to video, which leaves me with only four options for film simulations. Do you have any clever tricks for managing this? :D

I loved the video but I do have one concern. I know you consider what you do a mixture of Travel/Cityscape as well as Street BUT I think many don't realise that and see it all as Street. The upshot is that in many of the Street groups we are seeing Travel/Cityscape shots and people get defensive when you point this out and that their shots are not actually Street. Not sure what the answer is. The same issue exists with many of the younger youtubers not just you.
