Robots was one of *the* movies I watched as a child. I think the main reason they’re inefficient is because of hilarious irony. Like the dude has wheels but still talks about a taxi.
It's like that scene from Bee Movie where she asks, "if you have wings, why don't you fly all the time?" And he says something like "you have legs and can run, so why do you run all the time?" And basically they both say it takes up energy 🤷🏻
I remember watching this movie as a kid, but I don't remeber being this crazy. Watching recaps like this makes you realise that your childhood movies are whackier than you thought.
Thats exactly why I make the content I do now. A lot of the earlier shows are insane when looking back at them. I've got a lot more videos like this uploading soon!
@@TheRealDarzii you're doing great with the edits. And it sucks that most edits go underappreciated. I can imagine the long amount of effort it takes to do a video that has this caliber of editing in it. That's commendable in my opinion.
My fiancé just passed she love robots and always quoted it… (I actually let her know Robbin Williams is in it - one of her favorite actors and she never knew lol) she also loved Paula Abdul too (favorite song was do you really wanna love me forever) we wanted to have kids… her birth control is actually what caused it to happen The shot can be fatal if your a smoker or use nicotine at all I wish I got to tell her who the middle watch was
Does the child think work like Ikea? You go to the srore, take the model that suits the family well and get it delivered to you? "Look honey, that model looks nice!" "Babe, are you sure Fanny is the right child for us?"
dude i remember when i was a little kid there was this giant tech store here in texas called "Frie's" and inside it was a ton of *obviously* tech but like 1:1 scale satelites and shit on display. there was also these speaker testing rooms where they play movies so you can hear how it sounds, and they were playing robots! totally forgot all about that till now, thanks digereedoo
Sick video dude! I absolutely love this movie, I have ever since it came out when I was a kid. If you can track down a copy, it's worth reading 'The Art of Robots'. The amount of love and passion that went into this movie is nothing short of insane. Every little detail in this movie is discussed at length in this book, things like what real-world mechanisms/devices each robot is based on (in both looks and functionality), how each character shows age, shows wear, etc. One of the really interesting design choices that's talked about is how each character reflects light based on rust and what they're made of, and how characters like Madame Gasket are essentially walking light sources, so they only really show her in darker environments. This book is ace, can't recommend it enough. It's absolutely enhanced how I view this movie
That’s extremely interesting! It’s crazy how many movies we take for granted and how often we forget about the effort and care that goes into them. I really appreciate the info about the book. Found a copy on Amazon, might take a look at it. Comments like these are what makes this all worth it!
Thank you to everyone who has decided to stick around and watch some of my content. My videos will usually be all over the place, but for today, I'm reminiscing on a classic movie called Robots. This was my first 'larger' project in a while, so hopefully the time and effort I put into it shows through. I hope you enjoy!
1:30 Imagine if people in our world had to assemble kids themselves. None of the current folks would be efficient. Like, the father of a protagonist is a freaking dishwasher, not a mechanic!
"the mandatory female empowerment scene" my man, that was 2005. It was pretty damn new at the time if you ask me also, the resemblance to avengers is actually astonishing, like they actually copied the entrance of the crowd...or maybe it's the other way around? I'm not old or infomed enough to tell still a great childhood movie and a wonderful video, loved every second of it
Thank you so much! That line was mostly a joke on today’s media, but it’s actually amazing how aware this movie was back in 2005. Love it for that reason!
Ok weird observation but Rodney looks like the robot version of Elijah Wood… I can’t un-see it.. also this movie is the robot version of Surfs Up… seriously, think about it.
Haha yeah! I wasn’t a huge Star Wars fan at the time of making this video, so I forgot to mention it. But definitely insane to find out. I regret not talking about it!
I remember when I was in elementary school. my parents had me involved in a after school program, and every day when everyone was getting picked up after the program was over they would have robots playing in the background while we waited to get picked up. It would always be robots to because they didn’t have any other movies
I think this movie is great. I love the lessons of "Never giving up no matter what anyone says" and Bigweld's message of "Weather a bot is made of new parts, old parts, or spare parts, you can shine no matter what you're made of" is a beautiful message for a kids movie. Not as beautiful as Meet The Roboinsons' message of "Keep Moving Forward" but still. This is a childhood classic that needs to be remembered. Plus it's got Robin Williams was the voice of Fender who was also the Genie in Aladain.
My least favorite childhood. Now I Remember a new Mandela Effect, I Think I Remember the lamp post just instatley face planting on the floor after the fart earthquake.
Why is there a toilet robot in a world where there's no people or anything to defecate in it? Also what kind of sick monster would give a being that kind of existence anyway?
I think my favorite part about this was the fact you brought up brief footage _of the Robots _*_game_* (of which I actually have the GameCube version; don't know if there are any other versions-), but never actually mentioned its existence once. It was a blink-and-you-miss-it visual reference. Timestamp btw: 17:28
I'm glad you noticed! I thought about talking about the game and other spin off content, but I couldn't find a good time to put it all in the video without making it drag out. I'm glad you mentioned it though!
Was the only disc my grandparents had, I watched it multiple times, every single time I went out! Probably my most watched movie... Very unfortunately...
