    Thank you Mr. B for your episode from Preah Vihear Temple built by the Khmer kings from the 9th to the 12th centuries. I love the shot of the temple long corridor remaniscent of the Vatican building. Your description of the recent Preah Vihear temple histories of conflict with Thailand and the retreat place of the Khmer Rounge are also interesting. Many temple damages were caused by those recent fightings. The Thai also carted off many temple pieces back to Thailand. They need to be returned for the rebuilding of the temple under UNESCO sponsorship.

    Cambodia had been blessed by their ancestor's heritage, but kinda disappointed looking the way cambodian government managed all of those temple.
    Here in indonesia, we preserved all our temple seriously, broken stones cloned, and the original put on museums, so temple can be rebuild as the original before.

Due to wars, Cambodia has to start from zero to build the country again so the money does matters. I’m sure when our country getting better and better, they will definitely take a huge actions in protecting the temples.

    Another Great VDO, Mr. B. I cannot stress enough that our ancestors built great temples all over Cambodia and stretched from modern Vietnam to modern Burma. Our ancestors strong believe in Hinduism that built the greatest Khmer Empire that lasted for more than 600 years, the downfall came as soon as converted to Buddhism. The battle between Hinduism and Buddhism have lost million lives and massive land. This history that all Cambodian people should know. I am proud of our ancestor Hinduism and that left us their legends.

    • @imperialkhmer6146
      @imperialkhmer6146 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is no evidence that religious conversion led to the downfall of the Khmer empire. Two of Angkors greatest Kings were Buddhist and each rule the empire at its peak. You have King Tribhuvanaditya the builder of Beng Melea and the whole temples around that area. You have King Jayavarman 7th who built Angkor thom. The downfall of the Khmer empire was the decline of the Knom regime. This was a voluntary labor culture that was ingrained in the society for a long time until it collapse. The Knom system was the backbone of the Khmer empire economy. Without it who will build the temples, cities, roads, irrigation systems, carvings, etc?????

    Great independent documentary. I enjoyed it. The site has tons of history to tell. This temple was also the last holdout of the Cambodian nationalist forces when the Khmer Rouge took power, and they too fled to Thailand when the stronghold fell. A couple decades later it was the site of a great atrocity when the Thais forced tens of thousands of Cambodian refugees back across the border, pushing them down the escarpment into mine fields, shooting those who refused to go, resulting in the loss of an estimated 5,000 lives. At least this is what I read on Wikipedia.

    The reason Preah Vihear temple is empty or abandoned nowadays is because Thailand lost it to Cambodia. Now Cambodia owns it but they dont have resources or skills to promote this place. The way to get to this temple from Cambodia side is very dangerous and difficult. Its a back door. Not to mention there are so many land mines. Again, Cambodians dont do shit to improve it.
    When it belonged to Thailand, Thai government and local people helped remove all land mines. The entrance to the temple was very easy and safe. Its the front door. They promoted the place a d it was one of the big attractions. The temple was always busy with tourists and many local Cambodian and Thai vendors came to set up the shops, to make a living. Its unfortunate that Thailand lost it but there are many other places for Thai vendors to make a living such as this: th-cam.com/video/f5ayUzRZXds/w-d-xo.html
