I'm from Salt Lake City. I remember watching this reporter in the 80s. I had NO idea he was secretly an alcoholic, married 4 times!
It's good he's sober now and helping others.
My Dad worked with Randall at KTVX. They all knew. I'm glad he's sober now

The message in the story is not about Shauna Lake, but of the disease "Addiction"!!
So amazing how "closet Addicts", for years are convinced that they are in control of their behavior.
This gentleman's life long illness and recovery thereof,
a gift that few of us ever are able to earn, in fact it is extremely difficult!
I'm proud to tell the world I will be celebrating 17 years of sober living, changing what I can, and humbly accepting what God has given me, a new and different life,

I dont work with anyone who abuses alcohol but 9 out of 10 are overweight, obese, eat for the goal of gastro bypass or habitually spend all their spouse makes with a proud proclamation of "shop till I drop" Addictions dont pertain just to drugs in Utah!! Dont Drink The Cool Aid !
I was prescribed opioids at the age of 47yo.for the first time in my life.
I had an accident, that required back surgery.
I never thought I was somebody that could become addicted, but I was in love with my medication after the first week.
I couldn't wait till I woke up every morning to take my pills. We all know where this is going..-
after battling drug addiction for 5 years I finally got clean.
I went from PILLS TO NEEDLES very quickly, after the doctor refused to refill a prescription.
The sickness was unbearable.
I was desperate to stop!!-
-- in the meantime, I was operating a very successful business of 30 years in downtown Boston, and my secret was mine only..
--- in the end, I have lost my business and lost everything else..
--I now am clean, and going on 3 years.
It. took a lot of trial and error, but I finally did it and it's out of my system for good!!
I hid my addiction for a long time after I became clean, but realized that the more people who knew about my problem, I was able to help others who were in the same situation as me.
It's actually giving me relief to know that I don't have to keep it a secret anymore..
YOU ARE NOT ALONE!!

It is such a shame that people are not made aware that alcoholism is hypoglycemia! Dr. James Milam of the Milam Clinics in Washington & author of the best seller "Under the Influence" had almost ZERO recidivism because he put patients on a hypoglycemic diet.
He followed my work on antidepressants closely for years because he too had seen what caught my attention to SSRI antidepressants - the overwhelming cravings for alcohol because those drugs cause hypoglycemia as a listed side effect.
Congrats to Randall for addressing his problem and helping others.

Damn, its me. Thanks for sharing. All the symptoms of addiction is 100% me. But I'm glad or maybe (sad?) it's only been 3 years. Gotta work my way up right now!
Addictions in Utah include SUGAR and comfort foods, Eat the green jello, pies, cakes, rolls, Order out!! Few house wives even cook any more.

Your industry is rife with closeted/not so closeted addictions. I’ve seen you all partying in the last 25 years because I “partied” right along with you while feeding the party with entertainment I and many addicted musicians provided.
I quit the entertainment and party business 9 years ago, thank you God.
May I add, your political stands and world views, which appears to be a requirement for employment, doesn’t help.
