  • Economical DIY marking gauge
    It took time with hard wood, bad blades, immature techniques.
    In the video, the scene of the lathe was greatly simplified.

    I did basically the same thing except I CA glued that type of nut/washer to the end of a two inch bolt and cut the head off and screwed it into a piece of round stock

      Hello,
      Thank you for watching my video as usual
      This beautiful dark brown tree is scrap timber, the name of the tree is "Apiton" which is a very hard tree used for flooring materials native to South Asia.
      This project is made entirely of scrap.

    Fun to watch. This might be economical, but only a "DIY" if you happen to have a completely random assortment of machine parts, a lathe, and a drill press. How many ads can TH-cam fit in a 10min video??

      既存の刃を削るのはおすすめしません。
      あれは外周部に焼きが入ってるので、径を縮めるとワッシャより柔らかくなってしまいます。
      ステンレスワッシャに刃を付ける方が作業的にも楽です。

    • @TachiOhyo56
      @TachiOhyo56  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      そうですね!
      あれだけの直径を削るのは時間mがかかり熱も発生しますもんね!
      そして言うほどうまくいかないような気もしていました、
      しばらく今の状態で使ってみます。
      いつも夏王さんの存在が私を助けます。

    I do have to say, out of all the makers and craftsman out there, you are the first (that i have seen)

    Nice build, though I would prefer a cam instead of the scew, since I prefer using marking gauge with just one hand. Mine's really frugal and ugly, but it works right, so next time I build one, I will think about your design, with a cam and one little bigger reference plate.

    it's a great feeling that someone all the way across the world has a drawer with salvaged rods from an old printer I'm guessing just like I do here in Southern California. Of course My garage looks like a hoard of trash to anyone but myself but it makes me feel better knowing others share my interests and affinity for making their own tools from salvaged material.

      I am sorry for you!
      The material from which I made this tool was constructed by scraping and storing scrap parts that I had stored almost without discarding, the rod was a copy machine disassembled and the black spacer used for the hole in the base was It is a rod of salmon! It is almost impossible to order.
