Jeb, I will say Delta's reduced offerings and blocking middle seat is a strategic move to get people comfortable with flying again. That way Delta can bounce back quicker than AA or UAL when this passes.

Let me start by saying I LOVE 'TRADITIONAL' FIRST CLASS! .....but, during these coronavirus times, it's no longer worth it. Of course, I found this out the hard way. I paid $1300 for a flight from NY to LAX - and when I was served a box, that included a stick of beef jerky and some chips, I was livid. Based on this video, I have to counter with the question; Service?! There is no service. To be seated in the First Class Cabin all you're going to receive is an attendant who is going to give you a plastic bag, filled with 'snack food' and a Wet Wipe?! That's not service.

My favorite part of flying is the take off roll. That initial crawl, the exponential speed gain, the moments of weightlessness as the plane lifts off the ground...then the realization that you, a human being with arms instead of wings, are in the air, flying at speeds no other animal will ever achieve...

This is hilarious. You can't order a mixed drink, coffee, or a soda in first class on Delta and they only offer water to coach class. I just flew Allegiant Air round trip non-stop to Florida for a total of 56.50 for my round trip ticket, and you could order any drink you want. I LOVE this video! Not very many big travel TH-camrs do 757-300 reviews. The 757-300 is my favorite plane because I flew it with my family for a vacation to Fort Myers Florida in February 2019. I love flying, but I don’t often get to do it. My last flight was my return from Florida and before then, I hadn’t flown in 10 years! But my Florida trip and the 757-300 have a special place in my life. I even have a small 1:400 scale model of a Delta 757-300 on display. Love the fact that you did a video with my favorite plane! I’m 6’3” 260 lbs. I’m a big dude. On domestic flights, I’ve never found first class is worth it. My home airport is DFW so most of the country is within a 3 hour flight, and paying more than double, often triple the economy fare *is not even close to worth it for 2 inch wider seats and 2 inches more legroom*

    Exactly as you stated.
I almost always fly AA and there are a few differences. First, they do not restrict someone sitting next to you. Sometimes they offer a drink before takeoff. Sometimes not. Once in the air, you can get any beverage you want. Water, soda, alcohol, Etc.
A negative is that their entertainment only comes on once at cruising altitude and movies are not updated often. They do offer a sandwich pack or cheese plate on flights over a certain distance. Same as that box you received.
Still fun to travel. As with you the best part id the part between the turn onto the runway and she you feel full throttle.

    You're not crazy at all.
When the plane turns onto the runway for departure is an awesome moment.
Me being a speed junkie, the acceleration up to take off is awesome as well. That force of being pushed back in your seat and getting up to speed is an incredible feeling as well.
I always have my Ulysses speedometer app running on my phone. It's usually pretty accurate even up in the air.

I have since moved onto a different role and not sure when I will be back. Fun to see the approach from the south. Every single flight approached from the north. And every departure a few days later was to the north. I always when possible flew the 757-200 . 15A is a nice seat if you like leg room. Though it is comfort+.

I recently took a 757-300 from Detroit to Orlando and I hadn’t been on a plane in a couple years, I love aviation so much and as we took off, I cried a bit because I haven’t experienced take off in forever. This is the reason why I came to this video. My stepdad said we should bump up to first class but I had to say if we ever do do first class, we should do it on a plane that has more room like a 767, 787, or possibly a 777. In my opinion, I would think the first class on the 757 would be little tighter than usual, first class wasn’t what it used to be all those years ago but the service in my opinion is nice.

I’ve flown a few times during the pandemic, once internationally and several times domestically. I booked first/business class seats for all those trips JUST because since airlines blocked off seats to reduce capacity, fewer people would fit on the planes and because I booked a seat in a premium cabin I had a row to myself and was able to distance myself from others. The guaranteed personal row made the ticket cost 100% worth it.

Being in Economy or Economy Plus will always work better for us. Unless you have a bunch of points saved up through Frequent Flyer under any airline you fly with. They'll upgrade you if any empty seats before paging your zone onto the plane, or you can use your saved points for it. I love being in Economy if there are only two people sitting in 3 rows of seating to give you extra room to stretch and put your stuff in the middle seat shared with the other person. Plus, as a nice convivence. If you tell the flight attendants you have a flight that leaves from a gate real quickly in a short layover prior to when you land. They'll inform everyone on the plane to make room and let you get through. Even if you are in the back seats of the plane. It's a win-win.

It was on June 19, 2013 the five hour flight took off at 10:30 pm CDT from MSP into the twilight. As the flight progressed north and west, the sky kept getting brighter until over the Yukon Territories the sun rose in the west. Upon landing in Fairbanks at 12:30 am HADT, the sun was above the horizon.

My first flight was in 1982 and I was 3. I've been fascinated with flight ever since. From a very early age I wanted to know what type of plane we were flying on and if I found out it was a widebody, I'd be over the moon excited. Admittedly, the 757 wasn't my favorite plane but it has grown on me a lot over the years. It's a pilot's plane, often called the "hotrod" and it's proving to be very relevant in this time where reduced capacity medium to long range international flights are needed. So yes that turn onto the runway and spooling up of the engines gets me every single time. I may not fly as much as you, but I've flown plenty. It never gets old. Amenities are nice but I've never come to expect much from US domestic first class even in the good years. I expect a lot more on international business and first.
My big complaint is how dairy-happy flights are. Dairy put me in the ER a few years back and it seems I can never avoid it on flights. If they can put milk, butter and/or cheese in something, they almost always do which really limits my experience -- even in the good years. I ordered a dairy-free meal on AA international business and it was not good at all. Forget about deserts. Sadly (cheese being the exception) it's so easy to make anything good without dairy, even ice-cream -- so it's really reduced me love for the upper classes, especially domestic. TMI!

The no hot food and pre wrapped food from what I understand is to help reduce the spread of the virus. Just this time last year the lounges were serving hot food and I could just ask one of the workers and they would grab me whatever I wanted. Granted I'm disabled and so the workers usually just came and asked me what they could get for me to make things easier than trying to work my way through the crowded lounges. I was actually surprised just how crowded the lounges were. I thought they'd be fairly empty.

I flew this route from Atlanta to Salt Lake in January and our decent into SLC was the most turbulent I have ever experienced in my entire life. Being on a 757 I couldn't imagine what that turbulence from that flight would be like in a smaller plane. Turbulence going into SLC is not uncommon, however, due to the altitude and the mountains. I have also experienced turbulence before coming from the west coast. Been a fan of your channel for a while. Keep up the good work! Hope you get to showcase the new SLC terminal on your way out! Both legs were on geriatric 757-200s that were so old they needed a cane to move down the taxiway (both frames were over 30 years old), the IFE monitor in 2 of our 4 seats didn't work on the outbound leg, the buy-on-board food was terrible and the flight attendants all acted like they wished they were somewhere else.

i'm Diamond with Delta and have flown on 6 flights since COVID began. I wouldn't pay extra for First Class now. Diamonds get upgraded to Comfort + at booking, and Comfort + gives you more legroom and no middle seat plus you get beer/wine. So, with no middle seat, it's very close to first class right now. I wait for a first class upgrade and let it ride that way. I've gotten 5 FC upgrades on the 6 flights i've taken. The one time i missed it, I was #1 on the waitlist.
I will say that the service in FC during the pandemic is not nearly as good as it was pre-pandemic. They don't come around nearly as often.

With that being said I’m flying United’s 757-300 ORD to IAH next month in first class, one because I don’t want to sit in a cabin six across. Two I’m visiting my niece and nephew both who had birthdays during COVID so I have at least two bags to check. And finally being 6ft2in tall I always book a seat with extra leg room. So adding up the checked bag fees and extra leg room seat charge; it was less to book the first class ticket and I’ll have less people to deal with in my cabin. Jeb if I feel up to it maybe I’ll try and get you some b-roll of United’s first class service.

I just flew Delta a couple weeks ago from CVG to Tampa and I loved it. I set in Economy+ on the way down (free upgrade cause there were only 11 people on the flight) n Economy on the way back to CVG n it was a pretty full flight, as full as a flight can be with the middle seat 💺 blocked. I thought for a short 2hr flight it was great, both Economy n Economy Plus were very nice. The staff was very friendly and over all it was a great flight. IDK what ✈ I was on, 3 3 in Economy so it was a bigger ✈, maybe a 747 or 78 something, I thought for a short flight it was huge, but it is a tourist flight. Over all I like Delta and I'll fly them again. Better then Frontier and Allegiant pretty much the only other 2 options to Florida from CVG.

I've flown several times since since covid and never got an upgrade to first class. In fact one of my flights only had about 3 people in first class. Because I used to fly Delta frequently before covid, first class upgrades were a regular occurrence. I think its worth the money for me to upgrade now because it is unlikely I would get upgraded now. (Thank goodness Delta is extending our medallion status! Hopefully its safe to travel again soon.)

im a delta pm and i flew 2x in the past 3 weeks on the LAX-SLC route. Its a short flight and on both trips I was on First out, Comfort on the return. First definitely isnt worth the price difference right now IMO, mainly for the simple reason the middle seat is empty on economy. Lift the armrest and u good. The drink service is next to nil on both first/economy too. Wont hesitate to get the cheapest unassigned seat for the remainder of the year.

It’s worth mentioning that Delta’s 757-300 jets were acquired when Northwest merged with Delta and sadly...these beautiful planes will soon be decommissioned from Delta’s fleet along with the -200’s and the mighty 777’s. Such a major bummer!
I think FC is still definitely worth it if you’re tall (like I am) and enjoy the extra space for spreading out laptop and any work materials. The lack of food is also a bummer but there are some really good vendors in many of the larger airports like ATL, SLC, MSP, etc where you can pick up a good meal and bring aboard.
That was a great video Jeb. As always, nice work! I enjoy watching them all the time. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

The value of Skymiles has been so devalued that after using my last amount for Biz tickets to Europe 2 years ago, I have not flown on Delta since. Almost all of my domestic flying has been on Southwest, which has no first class, but does have reasonable award availability.

So at my last job I used to travel between Austin and Atlanta Quarterly and my job would normally put me in the main cabin economy on Delta and the Owner of the company would be seated in first class at the first seat on the aisle on the left. 😂 he would always sit with us at the gate he was a great man that was just “Chuck’s Seat” as I began to call it. Eventually the owner started putting my seat in Comfort +
I flew First Class several times and it was really cool the first two times but if I’m being honest I really like the comfort + better. I’m 6’3 but I don’t stretch my legs out in front of my when I sit. A week ago my father got married in Massachusetts and I flew First Class with my Daughter from Austin to Boston and THE only reason my 11 year old was the least bit impressed was because the entertainment. We sat down and I opened up he screen and flipped it to movies and she said “Dad, Howcome the planes mom takes doesn’t have screens in them?”
The lady across the aisle tried not to laugh until I laughed out loud 😂😂😂😂😂
That’s just how that had to end and I appreciate that lady for laughing along with me because I don’t even know how to answer that question.

I understand the cost cutting they are doing with limited service. What’s shocking is that they are also doing this on their premium transcon service. While UA, AA, and JB(a lowcost carrier), still offer hot meals in their premium cabins. You’d figure DL would atleast give passengers meals on transcon, especially for the price you pay to fly Delta One🤔

I was scheduled to take my first intentional first-class flight this past spring. I had initially been looking forward to the first-class "experience", but in the weeks prior, as murmurs of a pandemic were making the rounds, I was just looking forward to not having a lot of people around me. Those plans got scrapped 3 days prior to the flight because of lockdowns.
About a month ago, I bought my 2nd first-class set of tickets. This time I did so with the express expectation of less people physically being in the first-class "area". Yesterday, the airline contacted me to let me know they had rescheduled my flights. Unfortunately, there are no longer any flights from where I am to where my mother is that have true first class "sections". I want to be around as few people as I possibly can be, and being in the coach class area just doesn't meet that need for me (the last thing I want is to pick up covid en route to visit my mother who has several at-risk conditions), so I've cancelled my flight and am going to drive instead.

Ove the past 20-25 years, I flew about 1 - 2 times a month. More then some people, less then others. I was nearly the final guest to leave Secrets Playa Mujeres in Cancun Mexico, late March, 2020. In the past, I’ve been on 20+ cruises, many trips to New Your City, LA, Vegas, Caribbean island resorts, and more.
    Since March, 2020, I haven’t flown once.
Now, with over half of year of nearly no tourism, areas like the strip in Las Vegas have become crime ridden ghettos. Seriously, do some searching, its like that at many once tourist welcoming destinations. In the case of Vegas, some are blaming rowdy Raider fans, but whatever the reason, because of what its become, I’ll keep my memories of staying at the Cosmopolitan with my private terrace with no desire to return to spoil this fond memory.
We are in process of a permanent lifestyle change, partly due to the ‘rona, partly due to the new Elon Musk Starlink low orbit satellite high speed internet system, and partly due to other technology such as Teams, Office 360, and others that will allow me to work anywhere I can get broadband. We will soon be homesteading in the country, not the city, not the suburb, not in a town or community, but true country. My total real estate and related equipment investment will cause this to be a one way lifestyle change.
The rona, plus technology, has simply accelerated our ability to live a lifestyle we want. I will not be a farmer, but I will have a compact cab tractor for mowing, (snow) blowing, and lifting. I look forward to sitting in a climate controlled side-by-side with a pistol hanging from my waste, a laptop in front of me as I work with a view out my windshield you couldn’t get anywhere else.
Sorry to the airlines, broadway musicals, restaurants, cruise ships, casinos, tour operators, hotels, and resorts; we will not be coming back, not after a rona vaccination, not ever.
Honestly, we have already seen everything we have wanted to see.
Its time to turn the page and implement our plan to age in place.

I don't think 1st class right now is worth it, unless airlines severely discount the price. The benefits of food and drink are half of what I pay for and are not present in this current era. The other half is the seat and service. I flew Delta on a domestic 1st class and the service was top notch. I do think the airlines are doing the right thing in eliminating certain service items, but we will have to get through this current crisis before I will pay for 1st class (or use points)! I think I will typically stay in Premium Economy for the extra seat room for now.
I also miss paying for a Day pass into the Delta Sky Clubs. I don't have status with Delta and not willing to get the prerequisite credit card (yet)!!
Finally, I will say Delta's reduced offerings and blocking middle seat is a strategic move to get people comfortable with flying again. That way Delta can bounce back quicker than AA or UAL when this passes.

I’m flying Delta One SLC-HNL in January. I hope they start upping what’s provided onboard. And I thought you could buy a “day pass” for SkyClub. I did earlier this year in disgust because my SkyClub membership card in the FlyDelta app wouldn’t load, it hadn’t even linked to my SkyMiles account and they wouldn’t accept my email receipt. I was eventually reimbursed but I think it was $50 for MSP. If you fly more that 4 segments a year you might as well get the membership. And Delta extended SkyClub memberships an extra 6 months if you had a membership between March and April of 2020.
And on another note, I have not had a PDB in Delta First Class since 2018...not counting the water bottle at the seat prior to boarding pre-plague. I’m slowly migrating over to AirCanada and United for travel. I prefer first/business so I’m not running around trying to get decent food and drink on connections.
