  • We replace the AC Expansion Valve on the first generation IS300 (2001-2005) with 2JZ-GE engine. This will be similar for the GS300 or SC300. Check the list of parts below if you are doing this and need anything else.

    Denso 999-0101 ND Oil 8 - amzn.to/3UhrylF

    Spectra Premium 73076 A/C Condenser - amzn.to/49YPRuz (same price on Rock Auto with shipping)
    PAG 46 (oil alternative, cheaper) - amzn.to/3JzskFM

    Thanks for the video! This is the same process for the gs400 and gs430 too.

      Yea basically same car but I think GS might be tighter reach to get to it under dash.

      @TunerwithKids it's tight, especially for big dudes over 6ft and 275....I am pretty sure my issue is the compressor, but I'm leaning towards this valve and maybe my condensor. Start with the cheaper parts and work my way on up, especially on these old cars!

      @kevinwashington7311 the parts are cheap so if you open the system, might as well do it all.

    Been binge watching all your videos since i have to do this whole process this upcoming week ! , thanks alot for the videos ! Very detailed ! How has the ac been doing so far ? I know its been a few months since you got it going. Anything you regret not doing ? Thanks again !

      Cold and nice. No issues whatsoever. Only regret is I didn't know all this 20 years ago. I remember replacing my evaporator and dryer in my Honda and never touching the expansion valve or vacuuming and it never got cold the same again. If I would have known what I know now, my AC would have been ice cold in the Honda.

    hi Binh, thx for the great video. Do I have to vaccumn the ac system before and after replace the valve then recharge the system? Thx.

    • @TunerwithKids
      @TunerwithKids  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes. Always flush and pull a vacuum for 45 mins after you open system. Else you risk contamination and moisture in the lines.

      @@TunerwithKids hello Binh, have a question. I have oil leak at the exhaust manifold, I replaced the gaskets, OEM ones from dealer, but still leaked at the same location. Have you encountered anything like that? Thx in advance for your advice.

    Hey Binh, quick question about how to flush the AC System. I watched your guide on flushing the system, and from my understand I'm supposed to remove the old expansion valve as shown in this video drill it out, and reinstall it and bolt it back down then flush the system right?

    • @TunerwithKids
      @TunerwithKids  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes. That way the flush moves thru correctly. Leaving it in without drill out will now move the flush and dirt.

    Great video. Did you extract the refrigerant prior to the expansion valve replacement? I'm in the process of watching all your AC diagnosis videos for my 1998 GS300.

      Yea you gotta take it somewhere to evacuate and recycle it.

    What is the point of wrapping it in rubber and then foam? I just replaced my expansion valve and it’s uncovered now. Can I just put normal tape over it?

    • @TunerwithKids
      @TunerwithKids  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Condensation. Without the insulation it will sweat and drip all over the floor.

    My GS300 not blowing cold air, plug in the pressure gauge and it is in red (high) pressure. AC clutch is engaged, do you think it is the expansion valve getting clogged?

    • @TunerwithKids
      @TunerwithKids  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes. Over pressure on high side and no pressure on low is clogged valve.

    Hello, im confused about the comments made about drilling. I must have missed something but I saw no drilling

    • @TunerwithKids
      @TunerwithKids  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That’s the old expansion valve that you drill out to open up for flushing the system. I have separate video on flushing.

    why did you replace it?

    • @TunerwithKids
      @TunerwithKids  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Cause it’s a maintenance part. Everytime you open the system, it should be replaced for $40.
