Just completed this repair today. Thank you for your in-depth video. The repair kit I received had NO "destructions" at all so I was at the mercy of the youtube mechanics mafia. The funny thing is I only found a couple of broken parts on one side of the track when I took it out and apart. The repair kit had everything needed for both sides. $45 bucks, 7 hours on mother's day in the sun and we're back in bidness.
Your video was a great place to start and reference. I used it to replace/rebuild the sunroof in my 2004 F-150 SuperCrew. I did end up have to remove the driver's seat to get the headliner and sunroof assembly out.
Thanks Tony. I have crew cab so mine was just a little different. Your video was soooo helpful. I found the rework kit on Amazon for about $35. Saved tons of money and got to spend time working with my son. Getting the headliner out of a crew cab is NO fun and takes some imagination and a little shoving and tugging without removing the seats.
Thanks. I did it! A Lincoln Mark LT so a few differences. Took me several days over a few weeks cause I'd start and get stuck put things back together. Frustrated. Wait. Search for what I was stuck on and tried again. Got it, then took everything out again. 3rd day after 6 hours the rain cam early so had to cover everything then the next day finished and put most things back. Lost a couple screws and a bit and have some screws I don't remember where they went but it works. Hopefully for the rest of my ownership cause I don't want to have to do it again. Being an older woman I'm proud that I did it. Thanks again.
Thank you sir, just got mine done today. I've had the parts for about a year dreading installing them. It was not too bad. I could not have done it with out ya.
Tony, get a half dozen of those magnetic part trays at harbor freight. I shudder thinking about those screws falling prey to the ever hungry Shop Monsters! Great work as always, my friend.
Believe it or not, I have several of those trays. I always like to set those in certain corners of the vehicle so I know where they came from. Don't ask me why I don't use them. It probably is a good idea. Thank you!
Your Awesome have to do mine now first bad weather day in Michigan I meant to close rear slider all the way because rear defrost light was not lighting up I hit the moon roof was a little icy on roof and left side broke was so mad as always worked great in warm weather wish they had a shutoff so don't hit wrong switch. Anyways AWESOME JOB mine is the crew cab should be fun plus hopefully will find leak rear ceiling always wet from rain sealed rear 3rd light still same Thanks great video!
I don't know. It comes with the kit and is in a clear, unlabeled container. You should have bought it from The Sunroof Dr. You can't go cheap or you'll be doing it again.
You can adjust the highth with the 4 screws that hold the glass in. You can also try recalibrating it by holding the switch in the open position until it jumps. Or the closed position. At this time, I don't remember. Try it both ways. Thanks!
Great video, I am going for it because of your instructions… quick question, how do you get the headliner out of a crew cab with the center door column?
I tell everyone in the video to get it from "The Sunroof Dr." Do not get a cheap one!!! Please watch the complete video. I just rebuilt another one today. You can not buy an OEM kit. You would have to buy the complete track assembly from Ford.
I realize it kind of defeats the purpose of having it but I never open my sunroof so that it won't quit working while open or start leaking. My car is a 2009 and doesn't leak at all.
@tonyscarcare5657 I will have to watch your video a few more times, special putting the tracks back in the right position. Little Hart to see, but I think I can do it by watching your video few more times.
I just went through the whole process, '09 expedition. I can't get it to open all the way to reprogram! If I try to close it, it bounces back about 3-4 inches. And won't open any further. Any suggestions?
He’s not kidding either!! Mine just broke recently and I got quoted $2,700 by several mechanic shops in my area. I’m definitely going to fix it myself at this point
Yes, but look at the comments on all of my moonroof repair videos and see how much the owners of these trucks appreciate me, showing them how to do it themselves and saving thousands of dollars.
Damn it. 6/10/2024 1700hrs. 2011 f150 platinum with 297k, My sun roof just took a shit and now it won't close, it's fully retracted with the roof open. Faqqqqq. 🤦♂️
I don't own a truck, but you told me I couldn't unsubscribe, so I watched every minute of it and hit the thumbs up like you said I had to. 😳😳😳
And I hope you know how much I appreciate it!!! Thank you very much! 🙂
Thanks a lot Tony dealership quoted me $2000 to fix. Scums. Bought the part OEM on eBay for $50. And replaced it on my 2014 expedition. Thank a lot!!
Awesome! Thank you for letting me know. Much appreciated.
They charged me the same thing
I’m gonna do it on my own
You can do it!
Which part did you replace ? Mine won’t close securely
Did you watch the video?
Thank you Tony. Just completed my 2021 F150 King Ranch. Very helpful!

I don't know. It comes with the kit and is in a clear, unlabeled container. You should have bought it from The Sunroof Dr. You can't go cheap or you'll be doing it again.
Great video, I havea 2011 platinum an I'm going to have to do this.
Thank you! Follow the steps, and you should be fine.
Thanks for the awesome video. My sunroof is not flush with the roof after this video. Any ideas?

Do you know what brand/kind of grease they use in those kits?
Do you know where I can buy some?
No, I sure don't. It comes in a small, unlabeled, clear plastic container.
Where would I be able to buy the repair kit for a 2014 F150 Crew cab? Great Video
I mention "Sun Roof Dr." in the video. Simply go to their website. Thank you!
Do you recommend an oem repair kit or an amazon one?
I tell everyone in the video to get it from "The Sunroof Dr." Do not get a cheap one!!! Please watch the complete video. I just rebuilt another one today. You can not buy an OEM kit. You would have to buy the complete track assembly from Ford.
@@tonyscarcare5657 thank you Tony!
You're welcome.
Excellent info
Thanks, buddy!
Do you have to take ther sun roof out to take the headliner out?
No, you do not.
@@tonyscarcare5657okay thank you bc that is what I got confused abt
I realize it kind of defeats the purpose of having it but I never open my sunroof so that it won't quit working while open or start leaking. My car is a 2009 and doesn't leak at all.
I rarely use mine as well, but I still want one. It makes the vehicle look more expensive. And actually it is!
Do you have a video for expedition between 09-12.
I do not, but honestly, it's the exact same thing and process. The headliner and moonroof will go right out the back.
@tonyscarcare5657 I will have to watch your video a few more times, special putting the tracks back in the right position. Little Hart to see, but I think I can do it by watching your video few more times.
@deruin78 sure you can. As soon as you do one, you'll be doing them for other people.
I just went through the whole process, '09 expedition. I can't get it to open all the way to reprogram! If I try to close it, it bounces back about 3-4 inches. And won't open any further. Any suggestions?
@@janicotton994 try holding the switch in the open position until it jumps.
That's what I have to do with mine, worried on the cost of fixing it
Less than $130.00
How much a mechanic charge to have this fixed?
I charge $525.00 total. The dealer is $2-$3 thousand.
He’s not kidding either!! Mine just broke recently and I got quoted $2,700 by several mechanic shops in my area. I’m definitely going to fix it myself at this point
You can do it!
Extremely long video
Yes, but look at the comments on all of my moonroof repair videos and see how much the owners of these trucks appreciate me, showing them how to do it themselves and saving thousands of dollars.
So Tony what do you charge for this job?? I have to have this done,,sunroof busted 2010 fx 150
My bill comes out around $550.00.

Follow the steps! Many have done it successfully by watching this video. You can do it!
@@tonyscarcare5657 I will try to do just that. I hope it's not too difficult to pull out the track out of a super crew
I have a video on that, too. 👇
