As someone who races OOT Randos and does commentary on OOT randos: I have seen enough tricks to be able to know I do not know how to do them reliably without a video to assist. You making videos on them would help.
If you do a trick tutorial series, you've gotta include the important ones like Master Glitch, Hopping a Fence with Epona, Runnerguy Jump... Also, is ZSR still the goto for trick info? Been using it since 2013ish. It's had info for everything I've needed so far, just want to know if there are any other good resources.
@@mr_coke1401 Yeah, Mask Shop in OoT links to Clock Tower Exit in MM, and items are split randomized between the games. You start in OoT, and find MM Ocarina and MM Song of Time in OoT as they spawn there. Then MM becomes in logic.
I had a dream last night where ZFG was teaching me how to play an OoT randomizer and glitches. It was cool Edit: part of the dream was him actually teaching me to ground jump. How serendipitous
I’ve actually been curious about teaching an AI to play OoT. There’s a paper teaching an AI to play Minecraft given player input. They taught the AI to know what inputs were used from making a training set from paying people to play on their setup, used that to generate input from TH-cam videos, and then trained the AI to play on that much bigger data set. The vods have zfg’s input, and there’s a lot of it. There are also other people who play with controls shown. Could potentially get a really good initial set for training the AI to play.
@@subaruxv19 oh, okay that makes sense, I just saw linkus doing it the other day, didn't even know it was a thing being developed until I saw that, I was really hoping it was an actual multi world where 1 player is in MM and one is in OoT, with shared items. But if it's not in a good place right now, that makes sense.
What this video has taught me is that there is very little challenge even in randomizers to anyone who can glitch around the world like this guy can. Very impressive tech consistency.

ZFG's streams taught me how to do some of the glitches I do when I run rando, but I'm not nearly as practiced. I can do ground jump, ISG, OI (but not put-away OI), early BotW, and a really rudimentary early Shadow. I have tried to do hovers but I am not really able to do so. I also found that despite being simple in theory, QPA is surprisingly hard to pull off consistently! (I have also done equip-swap a handful of times, but I just ain't quick enough on the draw to do it a lot.)
On the tutorials thing, I'd absolutely love some of those. I can do the super basic stuff you mentioned like ISG and ground jump, I can USUALLY contortion hover, and hovering with chus and hover boots is ezpz, but I cant weirdshot, I suck at regular superslides let alone HESSes, megaflips I can usually do, DoT skip is a nightmare, I cant seem to get ledge clips to work. Zeldaspeedruns is a great resource but some of those videos are outdated as hell. I think a good idea might be coming up with scenarios that might happen in Rando and the glitches you can use to deal with it. Like you know something good is in ice cavern but you cant find rutos letter, heres how you clip past King Zora. You found Spirit but you dont have silvers, heres how to get past the silver block etc etc. In forest but you're missing a key? Heres the hover boots bomb jump thingy in the well room that skips a key. But yeah it would be a lot of effort but I do really like the idea
An easy way for a seed to lock itself is to maybe have Epona's/Storms be dependent on each other, leaving all the grotto checks and cows forever locked. There's plenty of spots that you could hide light arrows, or two of the critical boss items, in all those spots. Another option is to have farore's trapped in the back of shadow, behind the boat, and have lullaby stuck somewhere dumb like a fairy fountain.
There is defiantly some stuff that I have to go back and look through randomizer runs to teach myself how to do because I can’t find them anywhere else. Also I feel like you could explain things easier then a lot of other videos so tutorials would be awesome. Especially ones about some rando exclusive tricks
Something I've been wondering is why ZFG does a funky clip to get adult Link into the Bottom of the Well loading zone, considering when I checked the dungeon shuffle setting one time, I swear it mentioned that the BotW entrance becomes accessible for both child and adult, as well as the Deku Tree and a third one I'm blanking on Unless it's done up in a way that child has to actually properly open it before adult can go into it too, kinda like how if King Zora isn't moved as child, he'll be blocking the fountain as adult
I actually learned a few tricks watching your stuff, not your shorts, just the regular stuff, ISG, Adult Mido Skip, Early Botttom of the Well and Sacred Meadow Skip mainly, but they really do come in handy, so thanks for that.

Speaking of doing trick tutorials: please do one on QPA (quick putaway). I am able to get it if I have hoverboots, but I struggle to do it by walking off of a ledge like you do. The timing is easier to judge with hoverboots, but when it comes to ledges I cannot figure out the timing
I wanted to speedrun MST for a while + I liked doing no logic randos, so I learned a lot of glitches. ISG, OI (except bomb OI), supersliding, hovering, and most of the other basic glitches I have learned at some point. HESSing is still tough for me to do consistently, though.
I’ve started playing OOT randos like a month ago because of your streams. Having tutorials would be so perfect! I can do ISG, SS, clip to GTG, ground jump, hover over Gerudo Valley with the boots and using the rock with a crouch stab. I’d love to master hover jumps (my timing is so bad), mega flip, HESS, clips in general. I feel that you are the best option with all the knowledge you have. I’d also be interested in knowing what a good setup is. I’m on Project64 using a 360 controller. Is it good? What would be better? Do I need to change something on Project64? Anyway, you would be perfect for the job! And I support that glitching in OOT makes the game better. The randomizer in itself makes it a big puzzle game. Every item has its use.

If we’re talking about the showcase, it shows what could be achieved with Wrong warp and such, but not how to damage buffer, wrong warp, bomb hovering, clipping (recognizing a clippable ledge would help for instance), etc. A tutorial would be more appropriate. Most videos I see either have bad resolution, explanations hard to follow, missing where it could be applied, etc. Some tricks such as hovering over Gerudo Valley, I’ve had to improvise since the setup seemed way too complicated for what it is (and my method is simpler and easier to pull). Same goes for back walk hover to the gold skulltula on Impa’s house at night. However, he does name the rom used to practice its speedrun tricks. I’ll make sure to download it.
I know how to do every helpful glitch. The only problem is i have trouble doing hess and weirdshot. I've done them once or twice but can't get them constantly. Also, as hard as it is for me to hover, i have hovered to forest before, at least.
If you do video tutorials, I believe that 1 or 2 videos that cover true basics are necessary somewhere. I can think of stuff like how movement is fixed (a sidehop covers the same distance), neutral rolls can be angled for future setups in the tutorial series, jumpslashing while holding the control stick is different than not holding it (it can break some setups), targeting a wall is a thing, shield dropping is a thing, and then "atomic" glitches that are needed everywhere like ISG, Ground jump, bottle dupe, OI, PCS, ESS + ESS turns. I feel like some knowledge is considered as "common sense" which hurts the noobs, I can definitely see that on the PC port scene where people try out randomizer, want to do glitches, and don't even know they can shield drop bombs or chus.
@@velvetbutterfly If it is, it's not visually obvious that it is. Every clip I've found, the setup involves getting Link's character model to clip mostly below the ice. If you can't feel any heat coming from your Wii, the thermal pad might not be good anymore, which means lack of thermal transfer to heatsink and out the back of console, which may actually cause it to get hotter than usual. I would test this on an actual Wii game though since your just running VC and I don't know if the Wii gets that hot when doing N64 VC.

I don't know how to do any kind of glitch. I've seen him do them (ISG or ground jump) and I assume I could replicate them, but I'd need to know the setups foe the rest
Every single glitch has been well documented on tons of sites, just look up lists and search whichever trick you wanna try on YT or just online in general and you'll find in-depth how-tos and applications
1. Play Multiworld Rando. 2. I literally don’t know any glitches you do I just watch you because you’re fun. Watching you enough has let me learn some basic glitches but I still don’t know names and the like
@@lostskull7467you can do this with Castle Town entrance normally do by side hopping or just running off the chain. The game doesn't expect the player to cross loading zones without triggering them so there's no collision. So if you enter them at an angle or with enough speed you'll trigger the loading zone but pass the collision so Link just falls through
11:30(ish) - just on the subject, i hadnt played OoT-64 in quite some time (didnt have a way to play it, until Nintendo dropped it on Switch; closest thing was OoT3D, but its just not the same lol) but when i finally Did get a chance to play it again, i first-tried the Navi Dive at the Kakariko Well...id already known about ISG, before my 'hiatus', as well as some of the other easier tricks, but i was surprised at how many Hard tricks i could pull off within five attempts on my most-recent playthrough of the game...just from Watching so many videos of ZFG showing their setups during runs...
I know I am just a TH-cam 🐸 but I would love to see tutorials on basic stuff like ground jump, ISG, Bomb Hovering, etc. from you. Have no clue how to do them, I am sure other TH-camrs have done tutorials but would like to see how you specifically do them
I know zfg won't read this but I do ISG, ground jump, and Equi Swap all the time. I've been able to Equip Swa on console forever but finally discovered my current tv has Game Mode and can now do it on emulator too lol. I've done Hookshot Jump a few times but I ned to watch a video for setup. I also can't consistently Suerslide but I can do it, but definitely can't ESS/HESS/WESS. Have done ISG Hovers before but it's not something I could rely on.
Check out Arthur Oudini he has a great tutorial in Chu HESS. I also just play casually with some easy to learn tricksm OoT is fun. I just always forget the skulltula locations 💀
Same here. I know all of the basics, even hookshot jump by memory, but then I cant do HESS on any console I play on (n64 and nso). ISG hovers are kind difficult for me, but I can usually pull off 3 or so in a row. Ive looked up HESS many times and Ive never gotten it, even after trying for hours at a time. Ive only ever gotten one superslide, not even a hess. Im gonna try chu hess and see how it goes. Forgot to mention, I can also pull off bombchus early clip in BotW quite consistently.
Zfg the one I could never figure out how to do so far is the bomb slide thing you always do with ease. I am playing with a ton of lag doe from a bluetooth xbox controller😂😂😂😂. But even so , after enough practice, i can do megaflips with a 9/10 consistency after an hour of practice (easy ish mode randos)
bro i can feel your pain. idk if you play on emulator on pc but i do and then with an x360 controller aswell and the input lag etc is just soo crap to learn stuff. only thing i rlly could learn was how to bomb hover with Hover boots but thats it for me

DUDE. After EVERYTHING that made this seed annoying. After the shadow barinade and the vc crash and ganon being in jabu… after ALL that. He fails the jabu entry and getting ISG sees the hint for mirror shield being locked behind a cow. I know it didn’t matter but man isn’t that just one final kick in the balls
Easiest way is just go to a non-cuttable sign (like the arrow ones) and crouch stab while also mashing A to read the sign. Do it enough and you'll get the timing down

If you can't feel any heat coming from your Wii, the thermal pad might not be good anymore, which means lack of thermal transfer to heatsink and out the back of console, which may actually cause it to get hotter than usual. I would test this on an actual Wii game though since your just running VC and I don't know if the Wii gets that hot when doing N64 VC.

I don't know how to do any kind of glitch. I've seen him do them (ISG or ground jump) and I assume I could replicate them, but I'd need to know the setups foe the rest
Every single glitch has been well documented on tons of sites, just look up lists and search whichever trick you wanna try on YT or just online in general and you'll find in-depth how-tos and applications

Depending on settings it might. I think there's a check at the Door of Time that can be locked behind having it

@@lostskull7467you can do this with Castle Town entrance normally do by side hopping or just running off the chain.
The game doesn't expect the player to cross loading zones without triggering them so there's no collision. So if you enter them at an angle or with enough speed you'll trigger the loading zone but pass the collision so Link just falls through
11:30(ish) - just on the subject, i hadnt played OoT-64 in quite some time (didnt have a way to play it, until Nintendo dropped it on Switch; closest thing was OoT3D, but its just not the same lol) but when i finally Did get a chance to play it again, i first-tried the Navi Dive at the Kakariko Well...id already known about ISG, before my 'hiatus', as well as some of the other easier tricks, but i was surprised at how many Hard tricks i could pull off within five attempts on my most-recent playthrough of the game...just from Watching so many videos of ZFG showing their setups during runs...

I know zfg won't read this but I do ISG, ground jump, and Equi Swap all the time. I've been able to Equip Swa on console forever but finally discovered my current tv has Game Mode and can now do it on emulator too lol. I've done Hookshot Jump a few times but I ned to watch a video for setup. I also can't consistently Suerslide but I can do it, but definitely can't ESS/HESS/WESS. Have done ISG Hovers before but it's not something I could rely on.
Check out Arthur Oudini he has a great tutorial in Chu HESS. I also just play casually with some easy to learn tricksm OoT is fun. I just always forget the skulltula locations 💀

Same here. I know all of the basics, even hookshot jump by memory, but then I cant do HESS on any console I play on (n64 and nso). ISG hovers are kind difficult for me, but I can usually pull off 3 or so in a row. Ive looked up HESS many times and Ive never gotten it, even after trying for hours at a time. Ive only ever gotten one superslide, not even a hess. Im gonna try chu hess and see how it goes.
Forgot to mention, I can also pull off bombchus early clip in BotW quite consistently.

But even so , after enough practice, i can do megaflips with a 9/10 consistency after an hour of practice (easy ish mode randos)

idk if you play on emulator on pc but i do and then with an x360 controller aswell and the input lag etc is just soo crap to learn stuff. only thing i rlly could learn was how to bomb hover with Hover boots but thats it for me

Easiest way is just go to a non-cuttable sign (like the arrow ones) and crouch stab while also mashing A to read the sign. Do it enough and you'll get the timing down
