    There was a communication breakdown at 10:38 in the video. I was looking for a popular pub called the Temple Bar, which I'd been to before but wasn't certain where it was. I didn't realize there's a part of Dublin called Temple Bar, which is the area where I was when I asked the question. This also explains why my phone didn't direct me to the Temple Bar pub. So when I asked the two guys where the Temple Bar was, they thought I meant the general area. Then they seemed to realize I meant the Temple Bar pub and pointed in the right general direction. So it all worked out. I'm showing much more of Ireland beyond Dublin in other videos, here's one that captures some of the beauty and history of this amazing country: th-cam.com/video/0MpN41Er7PU/w-d-xo.html

      @@Paul-sl9zm I’m talking about the pub called The Temple Bar, not the Temple Bar area.The reason is that it’s a gimmicky name, only around since the 90s, taking advantage of a genuine old name. Two euros extra for a pint would be a good reason to blow it all up though yes!

    Gabriel you are the best wanderer by far on YT. Thanks for sharing. I like how you just walk around without checking maps most of the time. And a lot of the YT walkers I watch are very inconsiderate and act like they are the most important people walking around because they’re “Filming for TH-cam!” and you don’t do that; you are very considerate of others.

    Thanks! I really appreciate it when you throw in a here and now video like this, closer to real time letting us know where you actually are! Some youtubers go weeks or even months before posting their videos and that sucks, as it creates a loss of connection to what is. So, letting us know where you are and then catching up on the previous backlog of videos works. Wanted to comment on this so that you continue to do so! Wish I was in Ireland now instead of in the midst of wildfire smoke...

    Temple Bar is this entire area you were walking around - Starting at Westmoreland Street up to Dublinia / DCC . It's bordering with Liffey to the north and with Dame Street to the south; So I think that's why the folks at Grattan Bridge were confused with your asking about the place. BTW There's a pub called The Temple Bar known for being popular with Americans.

      @@GabrielTravelerVideos I'm just being a smart arse, great video. I think issue that comes up a few times in the video is that you were looking for 'The Temple bar' pub specifically where as the whole area(From the street where you asked the council workers for directions all the way to O'Connell bridge) is is known as Temple bar. But it's funny from an Irish perspective because you're literally 30 seconds from Temple bar at the beginning of the video 😂

      @GabrielTravelerVideos  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ah okay, I didn't realize I was that close to it at the beginning, that is indeed pretty hilarious. And I didn't know the neighborhood was called Temple Bar so that added to the confusion.

    • @Dr-Stu
      @Dr-Stu 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@GabrielTravelerVideos Yeah the building in the distance when you pan down in your opening shot is the old Central Bank, bang in the middle of Temple bar. Also when you asked those council workers where Temple bar was, they're thinking "You're here!" If you said 'The' Temple bar I'm sure they'd have been more specific. It's a bit like Moulin Rouge in Paris, you have the cabaret house and then the area has become known as Moulin Rouge too although with Temple bar it's vice-versa, the pub is named after the area.

As for the future - maybe it is an option for you to go somewhere where fall foliage is amazing (with additional maple and other trees with red leaves in fall, along with yellow, orange, brown and green) and Halloween traditions are traditionally well celebrated in the month of October (New England with typical Halloween food and foliage, although also Canada and Japan have amazing fall foliage in like mid-October)? It would be really interesting for us foreigners who maybe saw real Halloween celebrations only in an amusement park.

    I lived in Dublin for almost 5 years, and figured out that I adore Ireland but hate Dublin. It is great to visit for a weekend or a week. Living there, however, is a nightmare, the city being packed with homeless people, drug addicts and "knackers" (violent minors/teenagers who do not hesitate to throw stones at pedestrians. I had scissors thrown at me, and it wasn't a pleasant experience. Have a read of the Irish Times or The Journal, and you will find plenty of articles about them hurting or even killing people for no reason).
    The public trasportation system consists of two tram lines, or the Luas how it is officially called - the Green and the Red Line. Whereas the Green Line is pretty decent and connects North and South Dublin, the Red Line, connecting Tallaght/Saggart (Dublin West) and The Point (Dublin East) can be quite dangerous at times. My friend for instance got robbed twice while riding the Red Line. Besides the trams, there are dozens of inefficient bus lines.
    When it comes to renting, be ready to spit out between €1800 and €2500, depending on where you want to live, for tiny apartments with wafer-thin walls. Good luck if you are renting in the city centre, buy yourself a nice pair of ear plugs and get used to an all-night long theater where drunks, drug addicts and homeless people are the main protagonists, followed by drunk tourists.
    Although I met tons of amazing people there, with some of whom I have stayed in touch, I would never move back to Dublin.
    Again - love Ireland, love the Irish but hate Dublin.
