The T7 sounds phenomenal with Troy, you convinced me to use this mouthpiece for many years I have been playing the Vandoren for the clarinet, but this mouthpiece has brought competition ...... thanks........:)
Fantasic comparison! I still play my T6L, it's incredible how good the piece is. Especially at most $150, it's outplayed every $300 piece, $600 piece, and $1000 florida link I had at one point! Saxophonists, don't break the bank, just get a V16 and practice hahahaha
Nice to hear the great Troy Roberts playing different Vandoren pieces, I would have liked to hear him on the metal T7 V16 medium chamber, which perhaps stands out in their range for it's Florida like character and beauty, I don't care for the small chamber metals at all, but the large chamber metal in a small tip opening is in the tone master ball park I think. Vandoren are making terrific pieces at a good price, but despite Troy's prodigious gifts on the saxophone, those Vandoren ebonite tenor pieces have some upper partials, and it's all about partials, I don't care for. I'd love to hear Troy play a great vintage rubber EB next:)
Very amazing comparison. I like the way you play this marvellous instrument. Coming to the pieces, do you think the metal V16 is similar to a Florida Link? I would like to buy a V16 metal T6 Small chamber, but don't want a copy of my actual Florida Link. I would like more power and brightness. Thanks. God Bless.
No offence to any mouthpiece brand, but if any note stifles, or is in anyway difficult to get, especially when it's a demo to show how easy the full range should be, then I know it's not the mpc for me.
Why not just use a real Otto Link hard rubber Tone Edge, or a metal SuperToneMaster 7* or 8. It's the original mouthpiece, and was used by all the greats!
I played a link for years man and thanks to Troy I'm now blowing on a T7 medium bore... You're right... But the Vandoren has something else there and I'm close to finding it....bur you are right....and so is this..!
I’ve had a metal V16 T8 small chamber, for just under two years now. I’m very happy with it! Thank you for an interesting video, Troy! 🎶🎷
I think Vandoren are really onto a winner with that large chamber piece. Probably the best off the shelf piece you can get atm.
Agreed!

Fantastic sound, technique, touch, and tone.
GREAT GREAT demo ….love your sound man….wonderful sound on every mpc…Vandoren mpcs are almost the holy grail 😀👍

Omg! Thank you for this review this was not only very helpful but I loved the small bits of humor sprinkled throughout ( 5:51 ) 🤣
Haha, thank you!
Got the T7 medium ebonite.... They LOVE IT..!!
Vandoren T7 is 2.65mm or a .104".
Otto link 7 * is a .105".
Vandoren T8 is 2.77mm or a .109". Otto link Super Tone Master 8 is .110"

No. I think the V16 Metal Small Chamber is it's own thing.. I would say it definitely has more 'cut' than a Florida Link in my opinion.
@@toyrobot99ToyRobotMusic thanks for your answer and your kindness. I really appreciate.
Is this a JL Artists edition tenor ?
No, this is a Super Balanced Action Selmer.

The mouthpiece, though kind of open, is not at fault. The reed is much too hard.
@@JiveDadson where in the video are you referring to?

Thank you
On the t7 large chamber do you have to push a lot or a little bit more air than the medium chamber
Nope...

No quality control, another $300 on top of the purchase price to get a flat table and your tip rail working properly... Or just buy a Jody Jazz......

I was in a store. All the Otto Links had irregular side rails. The V16 was getting me the sound I wanted and the Link wasn’t.
