This is valuable information. I love minimalist shoes (barefoot shoes), but unlike other minimalist advocates who swear by their benefits--including curing foot pain--the information in this video is more grounded about what they can & cannot do for you.

Very thoughtful, and an important message about how interconnected the body is. I’m someone for whom the key to ending foot pain was getting into minimalist shoes. I didn’t have any real transition, because I was already barefoot for many hours a day indoors on hard floors. I had developed super-painful neuomas in both feet, but the pain just stopped once I got into zero-drop, foot-shaped, no-arch-support, no-cushion shoes. And it hasn’t come back in the 7 years since I switched.

I made the transition to barefoot shoes and it’s helped about but my feet still hurt bad at times when I wear anything else and other reasons. I use the machine gun, my husband massages them and nothing. You say stretch calves and hips so I do that one time, I HAVE SO MUCH RELIEF!! Thank you so much for the valuable information I finally feel less pain in my feet.

My 80 dollar Asics were hurting my feet so badly. They were just too much/overkill. I did not need layers of gel on top of layers of foam. I switched to zero drop, minimalistic wide shoes, and my feet felt much better. I didn't need all that super support of gel and foam afterall. Natural and flat was much better for me. 😊

Great video, I accidently conditioned my feet for barefoot shoes. I moved into a town house where there was all carpet inside besides the bathrooms and kitchen. Being a rental I didn't want the carpet being so dirty so we decided to walk barefoot inside. Keep in mind I was use to always wearing shoes even indoors. For my wife this was not problem but for me it was the worst time of my life! My feet would hurt all the time after that! Going back and fourth from barefoot to regular shoes made things even worst. Thankfully tho this caused me to do some research leading me to find Lems and the world of barefoot shoes. After that first pair of shoes I never went back. The only pain I get now is form normal soreness after a long work day. My foot also expanded two sizes, crazy!. For some the pain will be there but its worth it.

This is fascinating, I have hip issues and recently developed foot pain; never thought of the correlation. I will start hip stretches!

I'm contemplating transitioning to minimalist shoes. I experience what you are. In a larger stature individual 6'5 275. I'm working on flexibility and posturing in mobility.

So if you didn't choose to wear minimalist shoes for that reason, what was the reason you choose to start wearing them so much, once you were able to without discomfort?

What hip stretch and exercise did you do and how long to address your foot problem?

In my life, the solution to foot pain is to TAKE MY SHOES OFF. Yes, I can and do walk barefoot or basically barefoot. --- Sadly Tom's went out of business. Converse work well too. (only 1/4inch rise at the heel.)

Toms and Converse are SUPER narrow in the toe box which is not conducive to proper foot splay. If you think those are comfortable you should try some other minimalist brands
