I would say that I believe I recently benefited from their KPI's. A while back I applied to the Gold but AMEX needed further review before saying yay or nay. However, this time around I applied and went for the 60K MR/6 months offer and was approved in less than one minute! Some may be asking, "Well why didn't you apply the same reasoning for the AMEX Platinum?" I couldn't justify the annual fee for that one versus the Gold. I couldn't see the "effective rate" being less on the Platinum versus the Gold with the travel and expenses I foresee making in 2021. Thanks, Sebby! I had to rebuild my credit after a drastic decrease in income years ago. I (surprisingly) got a targeted offer from American Express for Delta Gold. 70,000 SkyMiles. I did several prequalify runs and it showed it was likely to be approved. I applied and got approved. I'm already 65% through my spend requirement to qualify for the bonus. So I'm quite pleased for now. I'm not sure what I'll go to next. I'm really thinking of down down the road upgrade to Delta Platinum because of some of the benefits and I can usually find good flights on Delta given my proximity to a connection point. Got the Amex Gold last month, and I've been trying to pull the 100K offer for Plat ever since. No luck. Finally gave up trying and pulled the trigger on the 75K Resy offer. I definitely think now is a great time for Amex cards because we're seeing some historic high offers PLUS 6 months to hit the minimum spend instead of the usual 3 months.

Plus the 10x on gas and groceries is the cherry on top. The Marriott offer is so tempting but I’m not sure how often I’ll be traveling next year.
I got the hilton card. Earned the 80k bonus. But im pretty new to card points and didn't realize its only good for hilton. You can't use points for anything else like flights. Oh well. Live and learn

I got approved for thr Delta Gold card. You get a much better sign up bonus when you shop for a flight through Delta and before you checkout there should be a special offer. Mine was 40k points/$2K spend/3 months and also a $200 credit after first delta purchase (which is the flight you buy right then)

I received my Amex Brilliant card and used at a recent stay at Cosmopolitan in Vegas. I don’t see anywhere on app or web site where it’s counting down my spend for the signup offer. In fact I don’t see it mentioned anywhere (the signup bonus). Suggestions?
I called on my Gold card twice and and no retention offer... It's a 16 yo account that I have never asked for a retention offer on. I really had no intention of actually closing it but I thought I would get something.
There's a video by AskSebby that talks about a script to deal with the retention department. Hope that helps. In my experience, with just a 2 year old account, Amex places a lot of emphasis on the customer, so you should be given VIP treatment.

I was offered upgrade to Cash preferred. I had it for one month and I called in asking for a credit line increase. It was 10k to start off with and they asked me how much do I want , I said 20k. She them told me Congratulations! Do u think I would of gotten 30k if I asked. I charge about 5 to 6 grand a year on the everyday card prior and paid off balance 4 times per month. My fico score is 782.

Now is the best time if you care about the credits that are issued per calendar year -- Uber, Saks, Airline fee. You'll still get the 2020 credits + 2021.
I've never had an Amex card and keep getting the 75k offer for the gold, but haven't seen more than 75k on the Platinum. I'll probably wait until Dec. 31 to apply, hopefully, at least the gold offer is still there.

BCP is a great card and I would normally still have it but CFF math makes more sense for this year and AMEX wouldn't give me a retention offer.
To comment on return protection and best buy, in my personal case, if you return more than 7 times in a year, best buy does not allow you to return any more items.... look it up, plenty of people suffer from this

Got the 100k Platinum in November. Has been great, got to use my airline incidentals, Uber credit and saks credit all before they reset. Glad I pulled the trigger
And if you time it right, you could actually use it three times within a single annual fee period. I signed up December 4th and plan to triple dip the platinum airline credits.
