- Let's continue on our journal making adventure in which we are altering an old book into a beautiful junk journal!
Here is the first part of this process, in which we have chosen the cover to work with, reinforced it and decorated it:
• How to Make a JUNK JOU...
And today I am showing you all the different types of papers you can add to make your signatures. I then walk you through what signatures are, how to construct them and bind them into the cover using a 3-hole pamphlet stitch.
I love how this journal is turning out and I hope you do too! :)
In the next part we will do some finishing touches and maybe even start decorating!
Thank you for crafting with me and spending time with me :)

Did anyone ever say you have the gift of a teacher? Your detailed instructions oh how to create is amazing. Your voice is not only soothing but it shows how patient you are with us. So even if you were an impatient person I can say that no one would be able to tell. 😄 This is a great refresher for me. Thank you Martyna! ❤
Memory Keeper, you nailed it. Her voice is so incredibly soothing, and she's so detailed with her instructions. I love her.
graph paper a FAB idea to get the signatures in perfectly, thanks!
Thank you Martyna great simple explanations .....and the journals great xxx
Fabulous continuation of your journal, thanks so much from South Africa 💫
This is simply beautiful. I love everything about it.
Thank you Barbara! ❤
My favorite part is putting signatures together and sewing them in. I still have a hard time putting the cover together. When you showed those papers that you paint on it reminds me of the gelli prints I make for my journals.
Good idea using graph paper. I will have to try it. Good video!
Gorgeous as usual 🌸💕🌸 thank you
Another great job, thank you so much for sharing all your talents. Beautiful cover and job well done. Hope get to see follow up, thanks again!!!
Her work ie amazing I find it easy to follow .x
Love your videos thanks Martina! I am a hodge podge crafter too, great work 😊 I just made my own TN using an old calendar and was soooo much fun :)
Graph paper…brilliant!
I can not wait to make one of these in the future

I only wish I did it along with you. What a gorgeous journal. I know when you get done, we will never know you used some junk.
Love it, thank you for sharing. Can't wait to see what you add to the journal.
I have recently subscribed to your TH-cam channel, and became inspired by your thoughtfulness and love of crafting. Your page designs and color tones are perfect for a collection of seaside journals I am making! Thank you for all your hard work. PS Your English is better than my Polish!
Gorgeous, Gorgeous, Gorgeous!!!
Thank you so much Jennifer!!
Wonderful video, I really enjoyed it 😀

Thank you! ❤
Oooo - I can’t wait to see what you have up your sleeve to finish this journal off. I can’t wait to learn how to have ideas when faced with only the pages. I’m so excited.
Thank you for your kind words! I hope you will like what I do with this journal :)
Oh phew 😅 I'm so glad you kept that cover!! 💕 So excited for this journey
Thank you Chrissy!! 😊
Love this!😊
Love it. What a glorious cover, wish I could find such a treasure as that. Beautiful
Lovely
Love this Martyna, I have been making journals for a bit before I found your channel and I agree with you that binding/stitching the signatures is the most challenging part of journal making and I have been using paper template like you do to stitch my signatures, but today, watching this, I learned it would be so much easier using a graph paper, which I have plenty of, to shortcut the measuring, and something new I learned today. Regardless, I always love your videos and tutorials…but there is always something to learn-big or small from anyone…love your videos, as always…💕😍🤩🥰🥰
Thank you Virginia! You are absolutely right! I have been making journals for some time now, and I still learn so many things from others and I love it! ❤
I love your style! I agree, the binding is the most difficult part. Many mishaps on my part, such as upside down pages. lol. Thanks!
Thank you so much! Haha, it happens to me too :D
I loved this from beginning to end!! I am eager for the follow-up to see the final embellishing steps. The journal is gorgeous and I am excited to put my many paper scraps to good use (even the crinkly ones)!! Thank you for sharing your method.
So well done Martyna! From start to finish it was clear and concise. And fun! ❤️
Thank you for your kind words Mary! I'm so happy you enjoyed it!! 😊
Love the cover of this journal.
Your binding is so technical. Math & measurements not my strength, so I just eye it & hope for the best! It usually works out ok though. 👍
Bridget, that's my process too. Lol.
Thank you for watching Bridget! I think because I sell my journals, I want the binding to be as precise as possible but I definitely want to try it without measuring one day! 💕
This was a great video and your journal turned out beautiful Martyna! I'll definitely be using graph paper so that I can be more precise when binding in my signatures! Thank you!!
Please COME BACK!!! YOU ARE SO, SO MISSED. At the very least, pop on and say you're ok.❤❤❤❤❤❤😢
Thank you Martyna for taking us through your process for selecting pages - while I do love using different papers, I often get stuck trying to find « the » right page… All pages are beautiful actually and you create magic with them! 😊
Thank you so much Sandy dear!!!
Oooooooooooo
Oooo
Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Really enjoyed this, well done!!🌸❤
Thank you so much! :)
I was thinking on this journey you had mentioned you really didn’t like covering the library stamp. Maybe photocopying it. That way you could use it on a page.
Thank you ❤❤
Gorgeous journal. New sub 🙂
This series is great because I have been wanting to start making journals. Do you have a video for how to use a journal like this?
I enjoyed watching #1 and #2 but did you finish? You mentioned the next video would be closure and some charms or dangles from the string
Martyna, love the video. Can’t see anywhere the link for your friend Lorna for her digitals ?
Wonderful
Thank you Lucy!
Thank you very much
Thank you for watching Mary!! 💕
FINALLY soemeon using old paper... I really hate the idea of "junk" journals made of new stuff, dedicated and produced for junk journalin, which in my opinion only increases the overconsumption and the amount of trash in the world while loosing the idea of junk journal... you can find and collect so many beautiful stuff simply from "trash", collecting and putting them together is what is the real fun in it...I understand some buying, but not all junk journal made just fromnewly bought dedicated paper and stuff. This is what makes them just like any else, not the really unique item you have when you collect your own vintage paper...
Choosing papers and binding the journal
Martyna, didn't see Lorna's etsy shop listed above....can you give it to me???
Thank you do much, I always wondered how to bind paper to those hard spines of the book, but my question is about this: what do you do with your address on the mail envelopes? How do you cover it?
Thank you for watching Kat! 💕 With window junk mail envelopes I have noticed that the address is not printed on the envelope but on the paper inside it, so when I take it out, there is no address on the actual envelope. However, it there were, I would either glue something (a piece of book page or scrapbook paper) on it to cover it up and then add some collaging to make it pretty, or you could even cover it up with gesso or acrylic paint :)
@@TealandTattered thanks!👍
I missed something. Why are we binding junk again?
Ya, you missed something... because it's fun!
@@jbond7513 Totally fun! 💖
It keeps it out of the land fill. It takes a beautiful book that would be languishing on a shelf for decades and gives it new life. Lastly it creates something beautiful out of junk. That's just my 2 cents.💙
@@RockyRoadCreationsbyDiana I was always taught that paper was biodegradable and hoarding is a mental illness. But whatever, first world fun. Enjoy
@@juliaomelchenko1132 Well there's hoarding. A house that looks like a dumpster, which is a mental illness, and us crafter/artists that playfully call our organized collections hoards. So.... no mental illness here. Just turning junk into beauty. So lets not get hung up on this. It's all in fun, community and art.
