You are much more adventurous than I am, when it comes to color, lol. Sage or olive green do not go with turquoise in my mind! 😂 But I’ve seen other people decorate their kitchen with colors that I would never pick, in the end result is fantastic! So I will reserve judgment. 😜 I will say that I love your retro 50s stove that you have in your Texas house. My next refrigerator for my camp is going to be a retro design.
Thank you for reserving judgement. 😄 I'm really good with using color, in my not-so-humble opinion. Ha ha. I have an art and design background and I'm really comfortable with using color in unconventional ways. People often aren't on board with me at first - our contractors for the Austin kitchen thought I was crazy! But then they loved how it turned out and wanted to photograph it. 😂
Although the Amboise house started out somewhat of a mess, it's easy to see through all of that into what it can be & I fell in love with it immediately. I am so excited to be invited on this amazing journey of restoration with you so thank you for having me along & I'll see you again next video 🙋
The plans/ideas for your kitchen are amazing. At the moment I love the pink, green, so far and the tiles will be amazing. Love the idea of the pantry/ butlers kitchen/ mud room. Thanks for the video
Great video! Love hearing you talk out your thought process as well as seeing how you gather your inspirations/make your vision boards/make your mock ups. Poor Patrick.. another 6 weeks.. 😢
I have the same pink Fiestaware! Thank you for the personalized tile source to save me from the rabbit hole of making my own when I finally find my own place :)
I love your colour scheme. Also I think a proper large kitchen table for eating in the kitchen is nicer than a bulky unmovable island and looks more old-school French. But of course it's your kitchen, you do what you want. Just about 😂
The walls of the whole main floor of my house are the color of your new stove! I went through several paint colors over the years, but when we painted that color, I was in love!🥰🥰
The opportunity to create your personalized kitchen is fabulous. Color, cooking, and designing are invigorating. Your selection of stove/oven is particularly nice.
This is getting so exciting........ I'm living vicariously through you guys, giggle. I think the tile floor example that was dark with a bold red in it was beautiful........it doesn't look to bad with teal.
So glad you're having fun watching our videos! 😊 Yes, I kinda like the one with red also - the problem is that I like all of them! It's so hard to decide. 😆
All very interesting and informative! I like all your ideas. The middle range of tiles looks lovely though they still look pretty expensive to me, but good value for what they are and you won’t regret it.
When we renovated, we painted all the walls white, just so that there was paint on the wall. But now, we are thinking of adding some colour… you’re inspiring me to be brave 😊
You can do it! Go for color! You could get the large paint samples or mini cans of a couple colors if you can't decide. Paint a section and live with it for a while, before painting the whole room, if you're unsure. Have fun! 😊
I love color, too. And definitely the warm tones. My own kitchen is rusty red and deep gold. Love your kitchen in Austin. Im sure your designs in France will be fabulous. At first, I thought you had picked the deeper green or the lime, then just as you showed it again, I said it's that one. Lol. I think the only idea I wasn't sure about is the mudroom. Might have to have built-ins to get that look.
The door from the pantry to the garden needs to open in the other direction. Right now, it opens towards the other door into the kitchen. Even if you removed the door between the kitchen and pantry, the garden door could still accidentally smack someone in the face, and that's an accident just waiting to happen haha. Love your ideas and color scheme. My taste would have been a light pink stove, white walls and door, wood accent pieces for storage, and dark forest green through plants, trim and in the floor tiles (white, pink and green tile colors). Maybe even one green wall. But I grew up in the 1950s, so I'm not a fan of mid-century anything, although I can appreciate its ethos and creative elements. 😉European radiators can get REALLY hot, so if you put a table under the window and in front of the radiator, it will just cook the wood and over time will destroy it. Maybe if you use an old, no worries table, you can just replace it eventually. It's typical to put radiators in the recesses under the windows in Europe. I live in Italy. I was happy to see your new video. 🌺
Definitely won't be using any priceless antiques in the kitchen! 😄 They will be used and abused. But beautiful old cabinets are a dime a dozen in France, so we can always swap them out if they get too damaged to be convenient.
Imho and unless you have the absolute King of plumbers (no chance 😂) an island in the middle with the dishwasher etc is asking for trouble. Keep the water source where it is and the plumbing simple. You can hide the dishwasher behing a cabinet door like they do in English country kitchens. I hope the new cement tiles are easier to clean than the old ones. My grandmother had some and they were a real pain in the... kitchen to clean !
The main issue is that there just isn't enough room on the wall where the sink currently is. No room for a dishwasher, and I don't mind hand washing dishes here and there, but it's 2024 and I like modern conveniences. 😄 Thanks for watching!
@@AustintoAmboise Oh I had not realized that, the wall seemed long enough to accomodate sink and dishwasher! I said that partly because well, I dunno anything about American plumbers, but I could write a book about the varied misdemeanours and shenanigans of French plumbers!! Hair raising stuff, believe me ! 🥲
It's kind of deceiving because there's that big built-in cabinet with huge doors there, and we want to have enough clearance to open and close it (instead of leaving it open like we do now, with our little toaster table in front of it). The stove I'm getting is wider than what was previously there also, so that eats up some of the room where the current sink cabinet is. Oh I've heard some stories too! 😄 Hoping we can find a good plumber. There's a great Facebook group we're in with expats living in france giving renovation advice and sharing recommendations.
Ive been down the carreaux ciment rabbit hole too….so hard to decide ! I have beautiful old ones in my place in France but lots of damage and cracks so I want to replace them. (If and when I’m able to choose! )

Despite the challenges of renovating a home in Europe, you've GOT to be having so much fun with all the design decisions! :)
True! It is a lot of fun! 😊

That is awesome! I love colorful homes.
En France, nous utilisons souvent la couleur " vert tilleul "qui se marie très bien avec le bois. Mais chacun ses goûts !

As a color lover, I'm always thrilled to hear someone else is going to use it!
Yay! I couldn't handle living in a house with all neutral rooms. I need color!! 😄 Thanks for watching!
So excited for you to be back in Amboise
I love that you are going to use color in your house. Everybody just use grey nowadays, even in chateaux!
I find all the grey and neutral colors soooo boring and depressing. 😆 To each their own, but gimme some color in my house!!
I'm so with you on the green, its my favorite color too ❤
It's so good! The perfect color for many moods.

I’m listening after that purple one 🤤🤤🤤❤

Merci beaucoup! 😊 Thanks for watching.
Love your color palette
Amazing color and style in your kitchen 🥰 yay for colorful people ❣️❣️❣️ okay ! You got me 🎉 I'm subscribed for all the things 🥰
Thanks and welcome aboard! So glad you're enjoying our videos. 😊

Your Austin kitchen is stunning. This bodes well for Amboise! Have fun! Greetings from beside the sea in Devon, England.
Thanks so much! 😊
I have those peach lustre handled bowls! and pink and green were our wedding colors. I'm so excited for you guys!
Yay! Thank you! I love the peach lustre ware so much.
I like it all but yellow ochre. Maybe lemon yellow.
Awwww..The planning & dreaming stage!!
🥂 -SE Houston❤
It's so fun planning it all. 😊 Thanks for watching!
I guess it! It´s my favourite colour, turquoise, acqua, teal, emerald green, what a dream!
I like your style!

I did all citrus colors in kit when we moved to Mexico. Bedroom was aqua and pink.
Holy smokes, we share a brain, and a home colour palette! Can't wait to see what you do.
It’s going to be gorgeous. Can’t wait to see you get started.
💚💙🤍 All the colors! what is your Pinterest link so we can follow along there, too?
Beautiful, but don't forget to allow for the light in situ. The light in France is different from what we get in Texas.
Love the stove, love the plans! Its going to be awsome!

Thank you!! 😊 The mudroom is gonna be a "faux mudroom" ha ha. Just the feel and functionality of one, without having to build out the room.
Yes I guessed it

I'd love to see a Sub Zero refrigerator in your new kitchen

Pink?
We call our vacuum robot Mr French from the 1970’s show called Family Affair named after the butler. 🥸
Ha ha, love it! 😄 Thanks for watching!
