      Cynthia Garcia, it’s not a hard job to do. And you can spend about 1/2 of what you would at Jiffy Lube and know you’ve done it with quality oil and filter. 😊

    Good video, my 2008 has reached 200,000 miles and running strong. I found that doing my own work not only saved me money but allowed me to take better care.
    While there are very reputable maintenance shops, I ran into a few that did not use a crush washer, wrong screw......then informed me I needed (fill in the blank) replacement. Thanks

    Hey man, just wanted to say thank you so much for the effective, crystal-clear instructions on doing an oil change. I have a Civic 2015 coupe and followed your instructions by the letter. Runs so smoothly now! Did my oil change (4th one I believe) at 27500 miles. I'm going to do my ATF drain and refill at 30k using your other video. Many thanks, you rock!!

    Aside from the splash shield, I envy you on how easy it is to access your filter. Both my V6 Accord and 4Runner and a royal P.I.N.A. But once again, great job on the video. I like your approach to doing your videos. Keep up the good work and subs and view count will start rising faster than you can imagine. I do however suggest if you haven't already, to create a Twitter account for your channel. Follow other channels that are similar in subject and every time you upload a video it will send a notification out to your Twitter as well. Just another route to get your channel out there.

    Need help. Just changed my oil on my 2015 honda civic ex. I change it every 5k miles no matter what since I don't drive much. Last oil change I used the 20k mobil 1 filter and mobil 1 advanced fuel economy oil. I reused the filter since it was only used for 5k miles but left it upside down and wiped it clean on the outside before reusing it. Filled it again with freshmobile 1 advanced fuel economy. Anything I should worry about? Should I have not reused the same filter even if it didn't reach its full potential?

    • @MrRangerZr1
      @MrRangerZr1  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You should of just changed the filter. Whats the point of doing that. Engines are expensive but oil/oil filters are cheap. Don't skimp out on oil and oil filters, they are the "blood" of your engine.

    • @ianski37
      @ianski37 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      MrRangerZr1 I was using a pit. I bought this car just a few months ago from Honda, all of its previous service was at Honda so I guess they over tightened those screws. I couldn't get them off; I'll have to pay a shop to do it. They are on so tight they will probably have to grind or drill them off. I'm going to try complaining to Honda first, this is a one owner car leased from Honda since new so it is obvious to me where the fault lies. Very disappointing, it would have been an easy job otherwise!

      @@nickv4073 Why would you if the owner's manual says not to? The previous generation of Civics recommend oil filter replacement every other oil change. The manual does not explain why, but filtration performance improves with filter life so unnecessarily changing it more often could result in dirtier oil.

      It won't leak all 4 quarts in a day or week, you will see oil leaking from various seals and you might see an increase amount of oil consumption. Try it and see if it leaks, if it does then step down to synthetic blend, if it still leaks then just stick to conventional.

      So you're left with a quart? What if that's the only bottle you have where do you put the dirty oil?

    • @MrRangerZr1
      @MrRangerZr1  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes you're left with a quart. You would have to arrange something to put the dirty oil somewhere, they sell containers for dirty oil or grab a empty milk gallon or similar and pour it in there.

      Never heard of that brand. If it has SAE certification on the bottle it's safe.

    • @puneetjamariya
      @puneetjamariya 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I use the mobil1 oil and it's filter. The maintenance minder light comes on around 10K miles (15%). I change the oil and filter around then. I get 45-50 mpg on highway but I drive light footed and between 60-65 mph. My average is 40mpg since I barely have any city traffic commute.

    Honda recommends that you do NOT pre fill the new oil filter! And if you must I'd suggest filling it with new oil on the smaller outside holes on the filter, it will take longer, but it's the right way. Btw, great video, and most manufactures recommend not pre-filling filters!

    • @thurm101
      @thurm101 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      David Lyons That’s one of the dumbest things I have ever heard. If you already know how to change oil why come here and look at this video? Make your own video. You SHOULD fill if your oil filter is oriented to do so FILL the oil filter. You don’t want to have a DRY startup. Did you also read that you check for the old filters gasket?

    • @someusername121
      @someusername121 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Link me to any manufacturer ever saying don't prefill the filter. You won't be able to because none have said that. The only reference I can find is someone mentioning Chrysler had a caution to make sure you don't drop bits of foil from the oil jug lid into the filter. Well duh. And BTW you're pouring unfiltered oil all over your valvetrain when you fill the engine up.

      Can you please specify the line from the user manual to show this statement is true? I doubt whether it is, cause never heard something so irrational in my life, when you pre fill your filter with brand new CLEAN oil you just prevent the engine from running without oil for some seconds which is good!.

      I added 5quarts of oil to my 2015 civic only because the dip stick was not fully showing that it had oil- after the 5quarts it reads perfectly to the full line, will doing this really ruin the motor?
