A person can listen to this interview from the 1980’s and her parole hearing in 2020 almost 40 years apart and within 1 minute you can tell she’s exactly the same person.
I can listen to her talk about this case for ever, over and over and I’m just as fascinated. She’s one of the best specimens of a 100% Pure Narcissist on the planet. I’m shocked she ever learned a thing in her life (even her abc’s) because she talks for hours and hours without interruption. They’re not even responding - or asking / answering questions.

I agree. I was just telling my spouse that Diane really should be the poster child for narcissism. The way she talks and is so focused on herself no matter how hard people try to get her to think of anyone else at all is fascinating and tragic. What fascinates me is if the psychologists are correct & she has all 3 diagnoses of histrionic personality disorder, narcissistic disorder, AND anti social personality disorder, that this is the first time I’ve heard of someone have all 3.

She has interesting elements of different cluster B personality disorders - I definitely see some histrionic PD elements as well. Histrionic PD is ‘caused’ by lack of attention/neglect and her constant talking, promiscuity and need for attention are hallmarks of Histrionic.
And yes, incredibly high narcissistic traits as well. Like you said, it’s such a pure form of narcissism. She isn’t even able to learn how to act like she was a loving mother and someone who is grieving - she can’t even fake it!

I’ve never heard anyone who could carry on and on as much as Diane Downs! She thinks she’s an expert on everything and she thinks she can manipulate anyone. Never once have I heard that woman say anything that remotely sounds like concern or grief for her children. She doesn’t even bring up Cheryl (at least that I heard) and she’s only talking about Christy because that poor baby was the one who could point the finger at Diane and say she fired the gun that killed my sister and hurt my brother and me.

Apparently though she was awake because she had put her hand in front of her and a bullet went through her hand and her summer something and then her chest, so she did look at her mother while she shot her, they both knew that. That's why I bought an 8-minute Drive took over 20 minutes to get to the hospital because she knew she wasn't going to bleed out but the kids were still alive and breathing at least two of them, and she figured they would bleed out with in that amount of time. She's callous and calculated and manipulative. She's got herself so convinced in her mind that she did not do it that there isn't one second that she will not spend trying to convince everyone else in this world that she did not do that and try to get them to believe it. No Remorse no thought at all about her children oh, she doesn't have it in her to have those feelings. She made a comment and one of the videos that "children are easily conceived". Then smiled. That was after her child was dead and the other two wounded Gravely by her. Even after she escaped the man that she spent the 10 days with said I swear she wanted to get pregnant. She always was saying she got treated with more kindness and courtesy when she was pregnant then when she wasn't. She only became pregnant to get sympathy and treated better and loved the attention than when she wasn't pregnant, that's the only reason she ever had any of those children. The last child she was pregnant with I think her name was Rebecca that she had to give up because she was found guilty was one of the journalists, a reporter that she had sex with to get pregnant again and get the attention. She needed her tubes tied, a muzzle and a straight jacket and a rubber room. That would have been the best thing for that monster.

Actually neighbors gave statements that the kids were abused, Diane hardly fed the kids or bought them decent clothes but yet she dressed nice and bought a brand new car

In the first place I know we women would not stop a car for some man flagging us down at night, with or without kids.
But lets pretend we were dumb enough to do such a thing. Scooting past all her bs to the point of him leaning in and shooting the kids. It took about sixteen seconds with hardly a blick she says. I know most of us would not have stood still that fifteen seconds and would have been all over him trying to stop him some way. There would be hair or skin in our hands and blood maybe even a hat. I probably would have been found dead on the road because this type of stuff brings out fight or flight and it would be kill him or die trying.

Now that you mention it, Missy, Diane found out the day after the shooting that Knick was disgusted with her. But it's true, she held onto hope it would still work, until (I'm guessing) July 21.

Steve Downs did not think he could give them the care they need. He said he would have to work and who would take care of them while he worked. Not to mention he is not the biological father of Danny. Even if Steve did want them he might have had trouble getting them bc he had defied the judge and an order saying Diane was not to see the kids. They let him have a visit & he turns around & let’s Diane see the kids & even let Diane take Christy off in the car. So he put his kids in danger by ignoring the courts order. Which probably meant he would not be given custody of the kids.
I am not sure he ever wanted children. She wanted to pop em out because they gave her a feeling.

Wasn't Christie the middle child that she said when she was born that she had an ugly baby and that she really did not like her, that child. This woman lies as easily as she breathes the more I listen to everything and all of it concerning her it's just appalling the way she even talks about her children. When she was tape recorded talking to the ex-boyfriend and the married one she said that she would get her kids bodies back and something else I can't remember at the moment. I'm getting nauseated listening to what she even talks about she has not won care for anyone else in this world but herself, she is number one she's the only person that counts in her little la-la-land world. In every re-enactment or telling of the story Diane has said that she got out of the driver's side, confronted the "bushy-haired stranger", pretended to throw her keys, hopped back into the driver's seat and drove off, with the driver's side door somehow closing itself. Her story never said that she was at the back of the car, so how could Christie have looked at her through the BACK window?
Because, she WAS at the back of the car, to get the gun. Case closed, right there.
14:30. Your problem, Diane, is, the sheriff knows you're lying. Christie's attending physician applied for joint custody (with another doctor) the SAME NIGHT you shot her, and it was granted! You haven't had custody since, so you've had no legal standing to "protect" her.
Your lawyer told the media a version of this lie, about you guys "protecting" her from investigators, and the da said publicly, that's a lie. But he used the more polite term "hogwash."

The results were not negative but inconclusive. It's a bit different. In any case, it could be because of gloves but even without, it's not unusual to have this kind of results even if you did hold the gun, from what I read. Sometimes even people who committed suicide by shooting themselves don't have any GSR. Also the test was done several hours after the shooting, which increases the chances of an inconclusive result. One witness said she may have washed her hands in the hospital, but again, even without washing your hands, the residue can wear off enough to produce an inconclusive result. Saying it "proves" she did not hold the gun is a very far stretch but since this monologue appears to be a web of lies, it's not very surprising.
When was she tested? After she was examined at the hospital? To gave an exam the entire wound and wound area would be cleaned by a nurse or technician. She was aware that the test for gsr.

Its the lack of the gun. If I remember right they said the hospital was not that far away. And it is the time she took to get there that was in question. Something like 15 mins and it shouldnt have, so they said she drove really slow so they would bleed out before she got there.
No cameras like we have today. She could have done it then.

10-15 minutes of time "missing" that she "can't remember" but the "guy" who apparently did it leaned into the car and shot her kids with an impossible degree of accuracy, right through the heart, but she has relatively minor injuries. It's unbelievable. And the fact that she doesn't "care if you (the police) catch him or not...."

You realize if this woman would have lawyered up and shut her mouth she might have gotten away with this? Even with Christie’s testimony, they could have tore her testimony apart based on the fact she suffered a stroke as part of her injuries and her memory could have been imagined. I believe Diane is guilty as hell. But my point is this lunatic hung herself.
She wouldn’t.. the evidence and the fact that no one would shot three kids and and only shot the adult in the arm. And if he wanted her car why would he shot the kids that are in the car? The whole town wanted Diane arrested.. I’ve followed this case almost since it happened, trust me they knew that night she pulled into the ER that she did it, after learning Cheryl died she asked if it’ll be ok for her to go to work in the morning..
@@nunya6346 yes, I grew up in Florence and remember the case as it unfolded on the news. I now live 3 miles from where the crime happened. Maybe she wouldn’t have got away with it but the fact she couldn’t keep her mouth shut sure as hell dug her own hole!
