The battles with Vergil whether in his normal form or as Nelo Angelo are some of the most balanced and well-crafted boss fights in gaming. There’s no cheap tricks or gimmicks involved. Just pure skill
I've always found Virgil to be one of the easier DMC bosses. Maybe because there's no gimmick and if you go all out you can win, whereas some of the larger bosses I've struggled more on. Maybe because with larger bosses you're supposed to watch to see when they're going to attack and time your own movements accordingly but with smaller and faster bosses you know that if you're standing in front of them you ARE about to take damage. So when fighting an opponent like Virgil you can dodge out of the way of an attack without even seeing the windup just by saying to yourself every time you're in the strike zone "I'm in Danger"
@@smexehcougah3 I've always thought the opposite was true bigger bosses were always easier for me and normal sized bosses who can block parry and dodge quickly always gave me more trouble. Same thing with dark souls big bosses you can usually run behind them and hit them from behind and then dodge when they try to turn and hit you and then repeat that until you chip their health away to 0. Smaller bosses in dark souls requires you to learn the timing, strength, and distance of every attack so you know which attacks to dodge which ones to block and which ones you can parry. I love the skill ceiling of both games they have so many little intricacies that you might not figure out until you're deep in the game. Both games but especially dark souls don't hold your hand and tell you exactly how you should fight every enemy and boss. Dark souls doesn't even have a difficulty selection everyone plays the exact same scenarios every game. Devil may cry 3 north American version they screwed the difficulty selection up by making normal the Japanese hard and hard mode is almost impossible. You really have to be good to beat 3 on the hardest difficulty on the original version.
Lol DMC3 Cerberus not being here is a big fuck up. Him being the first real boss while you have no additional weapons(aside from the shotgun if you didn’t miss it), DT, or upgrades is hell.
Fighting him as Vergil is the real pain for me, yes you got DT and additional weapons to help but then again, no shotgun or Ebony & Ivory so clearing his Ice Armour can be a bit of a pain

I didn't struggle that much with the bosses on dmc 5 except for Virgil but then again I was playing on the lowest difficulty I'm gonna try bump up the difficulty when I go for a second play through
@@Batcena Vergil will use Summoned Swords on you if you're fighting him exclusively on Dante Must Die mode (unless you're playing DMC 5 apparently because I've seen him use it on Devil Hunter [Normal] mode)
See, Mundus might not be harder, but DMC 1 is definitely a harder game that doesn't give you many benefits that 3 does, therefore Vergil, despite being a harder boss, is easier to beat than Mundus.
In DMC 1 you have lifes and when you finish all yellow orbs you need to reset the level to the beginning, witch in dmc 2 and dmc 3 it's just a checkpoint in the boss fight so is easier. That means Dmc 1 is the hardest dmc game in history
Personally, I'd say the hardest of each game are: Devil May Cry: Nightmare (M20) Devil May Cry 2: Bolverk Devil May Cry 3: Vergil (M20) Devil May Cry 4: Savior Devil May Cry 5: Vergil (M19)
I still have trouble understanding why so people consider Nightmare as a difficult boss battle. Of course, before you know how to fight it, you really feel a sense of despair because you don't know what you can do to it. But the Nightmare fight is literally a puzzle. It's all about learning the EXACT patterns it has and learning how to counter it. It's more of a battle you study more than you practice, because once you figure out the puzzle, there is no challenge anymore.
@@Batcena Not quite. Most other bosses can be brute forced. Nightmare is one of the few bosses where thinking is required since its invincible otherwise.
The second vergil boss fight in dmc 3 when he dons those flipping gauntlents is the hardest boss i have ever encountered in a dmc game Aside from the sigrun queen valkyrie ( which took me 8 hrs to kill) vergil took me 2-3 hrs alone to beat him Hell, even the last fight isnt that hard compared to that one
Vergil is harder than Sigrun.If you learn her movements she becomes way easier.With vergil you need cat-like reflexes and on higher difficulties he even gets some more moves
I would have included Hollow Vergil from DmC: Devil May Cry, Vergil's Downfall, greatly agressive, blocks and parries you a lot, steals your Summoned Swords and uses them as his own, and is a nightmare in higher difficulties.

Surprisingly Nelo Angelo was my favourite boss because he was most understandable and fight with him was like a real duel (as with Vergil later). But i really hate final boss from DMC 2 and giant birds bosses from DMC 1 and 2 cause of their lazarus!
I found Malphas not to be easy but I don’t think she was hard compared to other bosses as a matter of fact my first Play through on Dante must die which I’m not a good player especially compared to the pros I was actually amazed that I was not only able to beat her the first try but she only hit me once. I do think she’s a little more challenging if you’re playing as Dante during bloody Palace but with Nero and V I found her on the easier side. I think she’s more intimidating than anything else because of the teleporting, but in all honesty you just need to keep moving. I don’t know maybe she is hard, she just might be the one thing that clicks with me. you know how like some people find really hard parts of the game easy to them but then other parts that are hard to them is easy to others. It might be that situation with me, I just found her more intense than hard.
Are you kidding me? Malphas and Angelo Creedo are one of the easiest bosses. Where is Trismagia (dmc2),The Despar Embodied (dmc2) or Urizen 2nd form (dmc5)?
DMC 5 Vergil isn't hard. He is much more fair. His attack patterns are much easier to counter, you can launch him airborne and do juggle combos, his SDT doesn't heal him that fast. So, compared to DMC 3, Vergil as a boss is easy.
For those asking why did WatchMojo say that the Nero part of the Vergil fight in DMC 5, it's because it's actually a little easier to stun Vergil even in his Devil Trigger form

Am I crazy for thinking this list is purely made to get views with the new release of DMC5:Special Edition? All of these bosses are overrated on how hard they are. Real hard bosses are things like Agni & Rudra, Cerberus, Beowolf, Shadows from DMC1, Griffin from DMC1. This list is not accurate in my opinion. As someone who has played all the games in the Devil May Cry series, and beaten them on hard mode.

Me personally I put dmc 1 Nelo Angelo 3rd fight over Mundus when he spam the sword then teleport is so annoying
the only one i agree with is dante, he is so hard in DMD, No literally so hard to the point where he is untouchable, you have to be so focused or you will lose, imagine if he could transform into devil trigger mode. edit: i do agree vergil is hard but thats only when you fight him the first times then he becomes predictable

@@reddevil1952 DMC 2 was just so disappointing though, compared to the first one at least. The fact that you didn’t even have to try in it was just underwhelming.
@@BlueDragonBot yeah it was different than 1 and the 1st game is still great to this day. DMC3 is in my opinion the best. But I thought 2 was good in its own way I just missed the devil arms from 1. Apologies for my punctuation I just pulled 16 hours I'm tired as fuck.
@@reddevil1952 The games have aged exceptionally well; I’m doing a Vergil run of 3 and 4 to prepare for DMC5 SE and I’m having a blast! DMC1 is still very fun as well.
0:56 propably hardest boss in 5 excluding Urizens as Nero and Vergil, still most bosses from older games are harder

All of these bosses are overrated on how hard they are. Real hard bosses are things like Agni & Rudra, Cerberus, Beowolf, Shadows from DMC1, Griffin from DMC1. This list is not accurate in my opinion. As someone who has played all the games in the Devil May Cry series, and beaten them on hard mode.

DMC1, DMC2, DMC3:SE, DMC4:SE, DMC5. Hell, I even played the DMC reboot DmC on hard mode.
Note that hard mode is called Son of Sparda in most of the games. Good luck beating the games on Dante Must Die because that mode.
Edit: Not really most of the games. It’s called Son of Sparda from DMC 4 and onwards.

If we're talking Normal mode then nothing on DMC1 deserves a spot
better change this list now. DMC 5 se takes the cake with the hardest boss in the series.
