    This is a great video. I just upgraded to a 2-story house with high ceilings, and high outdoor flood lights too, and have always lived in smaller homes with easily accessible bulbs and am afraid of heights, so climbing a ladder is not my first choice. Thanks.

    Finally someone showed the end threads of the pole instead of skipping to the lightbulb change!
    I did not know nor 100% sure if I could use the pole for other products such as paint brush etc.. ?

    • @AverageMe
      @AverageMe  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You could, but it's probably a bit lightweight for use with a paint roller. The alternative is to buy the light kit without the pole, and get a more sturdy, multi-use pole from the hardware store.

    Thanks so much for your clear instruction on how to use this light bulb changer. I had purchased a similar tool that would come unscrewed from the pole because it did not have a hole for the set screw. I returned it & have ordered the one you demonstrated. I will not have to hire a handy man to change my spot lights & my porch light thanks to these instructions! I have the same issue that you do with your porch light-just can’t get my hand in the fixture to unscrew the light bulb. Your instructions showed how to use the tool without the pole to extract the light bulb. Also thanks for showing how to use the suction cup correctly. You are correct-this tool is well worth the $25

    I've never lived in an apartment with such horrible management. Our bulb is on the ceiling 12 feet high on the top of a stair well where 2 sets of steps (10 steps & 4 steps) meet. It's been out 3 years. I've already fallen twice. My mom has fallen once. The second time I fell I was in so much pain for 6 weeks. I could barely walk for 2 weeks. I bruised my tailbone badly & had a lump at the top of my butt. I was screeching in pain for 20 minutes non stop. It was the 3rd most painful experience of my effing life. My long haired fluffy cat sleeps on the stairs at night once in awhile so often unexpectedly at night I'll slip on her furr & prior to that night I'd always caught myself. But that night I slipped & hit my tail bone on every step. Prior I tried putting my tallest stand there & a step stool on top but it started to wobble & I was like hell no. It really infuriates me what this complex gets away with. I can't wait for them to be shut down & sued someday. I think everyone living here prays for karma to bite them & they meet their inevitable downfall.

    The metal winged set screw strips the plastic threads on the attachment, so the attachment loosens itself from the pole when you try to loosen a bulb. That leaves you with the bulb and attachment in the fixture. Cheap. It DOES NOT have the screw alignment hole. Goes in the US as Bayco, and is yellow. DO NOT BUY.

    • @AverageMe
      @AverageMe  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I explain why that happens at 2:50 . It happens because people use the set screw improperly. The set screw is desgined to fit into the matching hole. When used that way, it does not have to be overly tightened. Many people who strip the set screw are attempting to tighten it directly against the pole rather than into the set hole, which results in screwing it too tightly and stripping it. If you bought a different unit that doesn't have the hole, you can fix that by removeing the set screw, and use the set screw hole as a guide to drilling your own set hole. But if you buy the same unit in the video, this will not be a problem.

    I think I would add caution to this operation and wear goggles. Should a bulb break while looking upwards, that could be painful.
