- Happy Halloween! To close out Thoktober 2016, I decided to do something different for a change. Who is truly the most horrifying and terrifying character in Generation 1 of BIONICLE? Well, this is my list for the Top 10 Scariest BIONICLE Characters! Hope you enjoy. Like, Comment, & Subscribe. It puts a smile on my face to keep making more and better content for you guys. These characters were made by a children's toy company. Let's think about that for a minute.

No kidding, the sheer amount of lore for a toy line is very rare. As a kid I loved the toys and as an adult I loved the story and lore.
Which is precisely why we, as fans, need to keep the story alive through our videos or films, etc. Bionicle will never die so long as we are dedicated to preserving it.

Velika is hands down the scariest in my opinion. A character you thought you could trust turning out to be a Great Being who sees mass murder as cleaning house really gives off a feeling of paranoia and despair. And as Greg said, his way of speaking just fits so well with him being a Great Being. He enjoys speaking with riddles as a way to mess with his creations, especially Kazi.
Some runners up are Botar, Darkness, The Skakdi Fusion, Vultraz, Tuyet, and the Krana.
But we never knew what were his plans?
Murilo Pena Goncalves Not completely sure, but he murdered Tren Krom and nearly murdered Helryx, Vezon, Lewa, Miserix, Brutaka, and another Great Being before the story got abruptly cut off.

Yeah, the idea of Velika kinda creeps me out. He was essentially a Great Being who was even wilder in imagination and intent than the average Great Being, and actually decided to stay with the Matoran Universe and even tinker with the inhabitants to give them the equivalent of sentience as we know it (which of course made the Matoran Universe go wild with many of the inhabitants going way off their intended purpose). And after all that, he decides he wants to murder a bunch of people.
With all that in mind, it doesn't help that he spoke in cryptic riddles that could be somewhat unnerving at times. He also has an intimidating amount of patience, having lived through the entire history of the Matoran Universe and waiting until everything was sorted out before enacting his plan.
bionicle was kinda like the second coming of transformers when you think about it. A toy line that spawned a complex and beloved storyline.
They should have put Zaktan in THE LEGO BATMAN Movie
Zaktan is too dark for the Lego Batman Movie. He'd murder everyone.

I feel that in terms of scariness, Tren Krom might be the most frightening of them all. His description is like a cross between Ct'hulu and Nyarlahotep. Even Makuta Mutran admitted that he was terrifying. While he was not evil, he was scary and could drive anyone insane through his visions.
I knew I was missing something when I wrote the script for this! I forgot to mention that Greg took inspiration from Cthulhu!
Also he tried to screw Lewa over prior to his death.

Two more scary characters: Ahkmou, the last Matoran the Toa Metru failed to rescue and is the last of Teridax's legacy. The other being Velika, a Great Being disguised as a Matoran who secretly killed Karzahni and Tren Krom

Top 10 Sympathetic BIONICLE Characters will officially be my last film of 2016. It will be released on December 31st. After that, I'll probably do more Top 10's if that one gets views due to the explosion of interest in this one. Thanks everyone!

Zaktan's only #5? The guy is one of the few bionicle characters where even his comrades actually describe him as frightening. The most notorious criminals in the universe consider him terrifying. He was stronger than their version of the bogeyman, he can go anywhere, has laser vision, and was nearly invulnerable. He defeated tahu nuva without trouble. HE LITERALLY HAS A MONOLOGUE THAT ENDS WITH "I AM FEAR"!
Come on! he is the villain most suited to "scary"!
I mean, I get why he's not as scary as tren crom of that dream lady, but Teridax is dangerous, not SCARY. Scary is different from intimidating.

Right? I loved how dark Bionicle was for a kid's toyline, but there were some instances with him in Island of Doom (particularly involving Tahu and that poor Toa of Plasma) where I went, "Okay, what the fuck did I just read."
IKR Add the fact that he didn't die when the Shadow One zapped him but became a sentient mass of protodytes is frigging unnerving.
Nah. Hes just like teridax. Dangerous, but not scary.

Almost five years later, this video still hits me with some good nostalgia.
Fun fact, this was actually the first video of good o'l TSO1's that I ever watched.
Teridax is scary but
The Bohrak and Bohrak Kal are terrifying just by their numbers. If only they weren't governed by a queen and acted autonomously.
An argument can be made for Krekka because nobody has any idea what his stupidity will cause, so in that way he’s terrifyingly
I have to agree with everything on this list. Teridax was such a compelling villain that I ultimately managed to get several of my drama clubmates when I was in high school to nearly pass out by reenacting his defeat of Mizerix when I was a senior in high school. He is a calculating psychopath of the highest order, as well as being a master of brutal combat that can make the most of almost any situation. He is cunning, ruthless, and far too intelligent to ever feel at ease around. The highlights of my childhood were of tearing my vocal folds a new one trying to imitate Lee Tockar's stellar performance of Bionicle's most compelling villain, and easily one of the most terrifying entities in fictional history. And I would not recommend trying to imitate Makuta's voice unless you already have hit puberty and have a naturally gravelly voice, because you will make your throat bleed.
This. This. And this.
Seriously, the only voice that was harder to do than Teridax's was Tren Krom's. Not due to its effect on the throat, but because of creating a voice that sounded like it was filtering through mud. It took me 38 tries before I got the otherworldly voice that actually caused a classmate to pee herself a little.
For me, the scariest Bionicle characters would have to be:
10: The Zivon
A creature so powerful and destructive it had to be sealed away in another dimension, yet could be summoned anywhere at any time where the Kahgarak or certain Dark Hunters who know the trick happen to be. It's like the Matoran Universe equivalent of a nuclear threat, but one that a dumb rahi could potentially unleash too if not kept in check.
9: The Rahkshi
They were creepy as anything in the movies, and being devoted servants of the makuta with a variety of weird powers they're incredibly scary to be on the wrong side of. They can match a Toa Nuva in one on one combat. But they have a few glaring weaknesses like their aversion to light and the fact it takes a lot out of its parent makuta to create one.
8: Anonna
Not higher here because she didn't get a whole lot of screen time, but the idea of there being a creature that predates even the Great Beings is chilling, as is the fact that she can affect minds and consume dreams. She's a truly alien creature, and that's terrifying.
7: Roodaka
Manipulative, evil to the core, and murderous. Roodaka feels like one of the drow matrons from the R.A. Salvatori books. Like the drow, she has an obsession with spiders and has the ability to warp flesh and mutate other creatures to her own sick, twisted designs. She's the one that made Nidhiki, as well as the Rahaga. But thankfully there's only one of her.
6: The Vahki
Law-enforcement machines with the ability to affect the minds of the matoran population to perform Teridax's will. And they were created by the very matoran they oppress.
5: Makuta Teridax
For the reasons listed above. Plus the fact he's so ridiculously powerful.
4: The Kanohi Ignika
This being the cause of so much devastation and pain in the storyline, it's only towards the end, after Matoro's sacrifice, that we see the Ignika acting as one of the "good guys". It cursed a great being to cause everything around him to come alive. It alters everything around it in wild and unpredictable ways. It destroyed a simple matoran and transformed him against his will. And its mere presence brings chaos and destruction in its wake as other beings seek its power for themselves.
3: Helryx
She's one of the most ancient and wise beings in the Matoran Universe, with all the power that a toa can have over the elements, tools, nova blasts, as well as a mask that lets her see into the past as it truly happened. What's really scary about her though is that she operates from the shadows and believes herself to be above the Toa Code, as well as having an entire organisation dedicated to the manipulation of history at her beck and call. If you're in the wrong place at the wrong time, she can simply have you erased without you ever knowing how or why. And because she's one of the "good guys", who's stopping her and keeping her in check?
2: The Bohrok
Av-Matoran consider it an honour to become bohrok, but in reality it means they lose everything that made them unique. They're a reminder of the old systems of the Mata-Nui robot that still tick away, with no thought for morality, only their single function which is essentially terraforming. Plus their ability to indoctrinate intelligent beings into the swarm and the myriad powers they can exhibit. They don't eat, they don't sleep.
1: The Visorak
Mostly because of their unique sound in the Web of Shadows movie, but the fact is, even outside of the influence of a leader, they're murderous creatures that delight in tormenting their prey. They're like a combination of spiders and pack-hunting wolves. Plus there's the fact that they can paralyse you and even if you survive an encounter with them, you can end up permanently mutated and lose your mind, becoming little more than a savage beast.

Both are treacherous, always trying to overthrow a clearly more powerful master, can fly, etc.

Icarax is nothing like Starscream, Starscream is a coward and hates direct combat and is in no way a warlike mentality and to be fair Teridax cheated by having a Manas army help him subdue Icarax.

The "Evil Dimension" Toa that Takanuva came across always gave me an unsettling feeling.
The Shadowed One is pretty freaking scary, too. He’s psychotic mob boss who hoards weapons and brutalizes his own men for failing a mission.
Indeed. Which is why he feels so realistic to me. TSO could exist in the real world like he exist in BIONICLE's world.
One other thing I forgot to mention about TSO is the sheer depravity he has, like kidnapping and forcing Varian into a stasis tube for no other reason than simply wanted a Toa as a trophy. I doubt even Teridax would stoop that low.

i think one of the best things about bionicle was the villains. from their abilities to their personalities i think the villains was one of the best things about Bionicle. just look at the Pirakka or Makuta Teridax.
One of Irnakk's effects is horrifying if your willpower is too low he will imprison you and make you stuck as a mere thought in his chaotic mind. Essentially a limbo of imprisonment/death or cease to exist.
Pridak does have a good quality, he doesn't kill if would be considered a waste. That is why he spared attacking the Mahri Nui for so long since he had no reason or any benefit from doing it.
Vezon is essentally a joke character at this point, he has been doing suicide missions twice for the order of mata nui and His unique fusion means has no control over the Olmak and the dimensions "it" chooses are unpredictable (Skakdi don't have the skill to wear or control masks)

Toa Tuyet is it for me. Tyrannical Ruler of a parallel dimension, murderess, schemer. She, along with Toa Helryx just ended my illusions that all water Toa are nice girls. xD

Kabrua is an interesting choice. Never would've thought of him, probably because he was an mysterious character at the time of his introduction and people fear the mysterious.

Love the list over all, but no love for the Rahkshi? I know they technically aren’t characters as much as forces of nature, but they’re literally serpentine ring-wraiths. And without a mission, they become wild and unpredictable. Not to mention their faces…

I have only 4 Issues,
1; I would replace Roodaka with the Shadowed One
2; I would put Zaktan at #3
3; I would put Tren Krom at #1
Sorry for the interruption, my phone died, anyway, my biggest issue is that Teridax isn’t the scariest as much as the most dangerous, same goes with roodaka, but i agree Teridax is the scariest Makuta, so I’d place him at a solid #4.

I would've put Krahka on the list; a creature who can shape shift into anyone she sees, copy their powers and mimic their personalities? Yea, that's pretty scary, especially if she copies you well enough that you start to question your own identity.
True, but Krahka become a protagonist and a hero later during the 2005 storyline and has remained a hero thus she's not included in this list. Plus I really liked her as a character and never struck me as scary or a villain.

Anthony Lisi I made a sense not to include Rahi or I would have included Gadunka on this list as well as Kardas. Perhaps Top 10 Fiercest Rahi is next?

Taridax practically helped others on the way to this list.
Helped them only to betray them later, all purely for the sake of advancing his own goals.
I'm not saying Teridax didn't deserve a spot on this list... But I think Tren Krom and Annona were both scarier than him. They are literally Cthullu monsters. If Tren Krom had been free to move as he pleased, he would have taken over much more quickly than Teridax did. Not only that, he likely could have killed everyone else in the process.
Also, I think Irnakk doesn't deserve a spot on this list at all. You could have put the Zyglak species there instead, because on the whole they are definitely scarier than Irnakk.
And these were made for kids! Imagine if the writers had made it for adults, the Piraka are already serial killers, whats worse than that?
If this was about how the villains look, I'm pretty sure you had to put all of the Barraki at 1#, no doubt

Where did the karhzami art came from?
Makuta Teridax would definitely be No 1 after putting Mata Nui to sleep , taking control of Metru Nui , Broke the seal he was cast in , killed his own Makuta Brothers and took control of the universe and killed countless Toa and Matoran. And unleashed a reign of terror on the Matoran Universe literally destroying it in the end.
And the scene at ending of Mata Nui Online Game, where he talked with Toa and said "and I WILL destroy you", staring them viciously, gave me chills.
So what's the Plant-tentacle thing in Maze of Shadows then? Did they retcon Karzahni into a demigod to sell more sets?
Karzahni (being) always existed. Makuta Teridax later named his first plant creation after the fabled being we came to know in Dark Destiny and following.
It was very strange when he first came out as a titan set. I distinctly remember it was the very first time I ever thought a Bionicle set was stupid. All the Matoran, the Turaga, every single ancillary set and accessory pack, and the friggin squid launchers, I accepted, but the retcons were just too much. They lost the sense of scale that the villains had. Karzahni was not a big green boogeyman with legs, he was an uncontrollable abomination sentenced to a life of isolation in the Bionicle equivalent of the Labyrinth.
With all the names they came up with, you could at least think they wouldn't reuse them for the big mythological figures. The worldbuilding of Bionicle was very weak by the end, and I think it led to the end of the series itself.

I think Pridak, no, the barraki as a whole would be scarier than Vortixx or dark hunters, they are all just.. out of this world, and like the mighty Piraka, they put the whole universe in check... just that they did it twice, and they even lived to see an indirect vengeance on the brotherhood. Scary as maddened all life ending warlords... and reaching beyond description levels as the aquatic monstrosities they became, only making them even more sadistic and less life aware.

I think Mantax should get points, he (almost like Velika) was a total mystery, he has an arsenal of attack techniques and even claimed the mask of life briefly alone.

Absolutely. 2006 was my favorite year of BIONICLE. It introduced my favorite characters as well as being the first year with villains who were actually characters (before Teridax and others to follow).
Teridax isn't that scary in concept. He is just evil and powerful, and not even the most powerful character at that. I would say Karzahni, as he is actually crazy, and his realm and mask are representations of deformity. Annona would be second, I mean, she has been a villain since before the matoran universe!
I think Shadow makuta is the most scary thing in bionicle story because he made a killer mask without help and that made a hole city get destroyed
And he even lives in the shadow kingdom and there he's the GOD
Makuta Teridax took over a universe, killed his fellow makuta, put Mata Nui to sleep, and much, MUCH more! But its your opinion so yeah.
i don't find them "holy shit, my heart just stopped!" or "i think i just soiled myself." kind of scary, but they are in other ways.
I'd hope not. Otherwise my video would've gotten age-restricted or blocked. LOL.

I like to think that the piraka are the most scariest creatures them and karzoni plus the rahaga I know that sounds crazy but their heads are creepy and finally carapar like the makuta miserix
For me, Irnakk is the most scariest character, he is like the Freddy Krueger of Bionicle.
