The part about the Somalis, as a Finn I can say it was not their skin color that got them in trouble, but their Muslim culture not meshing well with Finnish ideals of personal space and security. When you mix highly equal culture where men and women work together as equals with a culture that doesn't allow women to participate in society, there will be problems. We don't take kindly to having our females violated.
I second this as another Finn. Nobody hated somalis when they first arrived here. Only after their bad behavior, overall snobby attitude and lazyness towards employment, Finns started to dislike them. We give everyone a chance- but when it's gone, it's gone.
@@turpasauna fascinating.. and that’s similar to what’s going on in America.. nobody hates Mexicans, we just want civil and lawful entry. We wouldn’t show up at your door unannounced… well the citizens atleast…
Read about islam before you spread ignorance. I’m from Finnish blood and a Muslim. Islam definitely allows women to participate in society. Stop fooling others and yourself
Love this channel. I’m Finnish American (from the part of Michigan that Rosa Lemberg settled in) and I had no idea about any of this. Thank you for the education. Imma need to do more research
@@KingAlkazarThat's just not true. We've been slaves for most of our history, we were not even considered white until after ww2 ended. Finnish people that immigrated to the Americas also struggled because of racism. People called us 'China Swedes', 'roundheads' and other derogatory terms there. Finnish settlers struggled to learn English because of how different the languages are and the Americans deemed us simpletons because of that and many places when recruiting personnel would advertise "Workers needed, NO FINNS!" Etc., The Finns in America became close with the indigenous peoples because of how similar we were culturally and historically, IIRC they called us "Sauna people" in their language. Many places in Minnesota started putting signs "No Indians, no Finns" and lumping us together as a group. So no, we've not benefitted from slavery to be frank, the only slaves we've had (excluding ourselves) were Soviet POWs after the winter war and continuation war. My grandpa was born when the winter war started and said he remembers they had Soviet POWs living and working at their farm when he was a kid. He said when it was time to send the Soviets back after the war ended they were crying and begging them to not send them back because they would be killed in their home countries. We had no choice in that matter though as we've always been bullied by the Swedes or the Russians. That's just a brief education for you about us Finns since you seem to be quite ignorant on the matter.
Thank you for some Finnish History I'm a Black Woman of Mixed Race I always wanted to visit Finland I have friends down there also I'm a Huge fan Of Lordi Aka Metal band from Finland 🤟🏽💙🤍
0:47 what happened to Sweden? 😂 And no mention of the most obvious athletes that could be black, the basketball players?! I have to give a shout out to at least to Shawn Huff, Gerald Lee jr, Michaela Moua and Awak Kuier!
You didn't mention BLACK AMERICAN HISTORY MONTH IN FINLAND done by a Black American woman Aria Arai. She started MISS XL, OURVISION and "SAY IT LOUD" BLACK AMERICAN HISTORY MONTH. She was the first XL model of color. She is the founder and president of EarthAngels of Finland and Old Lives Matter.
Until some 6000 years ago white people didn't really exist. The first settlers of Finland were brown until the mutation giving blonde hair, blue eyes and pale skin spread around the Baltic Sea.
When I visited Lahti in 2012, it felt like there was a larger black population than I was expecting to see. Going by that, I assumed that the overall population of Afro-Finns would be in the hundreds of thousands, maybe I got too excited back then 😁. Thanks for always educating and bringing light to the world Fayida!
Anything mixed with black is beautiful: you could take the homeliest black man and pair him up with the homeliest white woman and you'll still get a beautiful baby. LOL.

Partly true, The Finnish people didn't own any slaves but Finnish children and women were taken as slaves and transported to Crimea and beyond.
