  • How to replace your Swift 2011-2017 Head unit/Radio, whether you have the Garmin satnav screen or the pre-facelift/non sport radio here's how to remove the original unit and install a 9" Android Touchscreen to replace it. This was definitely needed on my car as the Garmin Unit got caught in the dreaded boot loop and wouldn't ever load up. I'm hoping this video helps others that need to replace their own screen.

    Installed a similar headunit and have some tips.
    To remove the top panel, you can pop up the storage tray and pull from there its much easier to remove.
    As for ths fitment, the only way to get the correct fitment is to trim the actual trim of the AC controm Unit part slightly.

      I did end up popping the top storage open in the end it was definitely far easier, forgot to mention it in the clip. Thanks for the tip on the bottom fitment, if I have time to correct it and put it into a video I will do 👍

      Thanks for the tip on removing the top panel - is there any video or short clip which actually shows how to do this?

    Good to know buddy - trim is always a fraught matter, £££s if it goes wrong.
    I was pondering an upgraded head unit and possibly camera - life keeps getting in the way though🙄😕
    Happy New Year - thanks for sharing 👍✌️💜

      It's a nightmare isn't it, defo my least favourite thing to do haha.
      I know your pain, life has been in the way of this for 3 Months nearly now! Definitely recommend this one I have it's been flawless so far and faster than the Garmin.
      Happy new year to you too mate 😃👍

      @@wallsworkshop Thanks mate, I'll bear that all in mind. I've still yet to fit other bits and bobs, been laid up with health issues etc😕🤕

    Thanks for this. I've been looking at a set to replace my non nav (standard) head unit for a while now. So many to choose from but very few videos showing how easy it is! Pity about the slight gap - are you sure it is the set stopping it from fitting or is it the bezel that's not quite right? You may find there is some kind of edging material (flexible rubbery strip) that can be used to tidy up.

      It is very easy just need a bit of patience and an hour and it’s up and running! It is a shame, it’s 1000% the bottom edge of the head unit stopping it from clipping in. The edge of the casing of the screen itself is a couple of mm over the face plate, which stops it from completely fitting in the bottom clip. I will have a look into finding a rubber gasket of some kind to plug the gap, most likely I could fab something up for it.

    I might have missed it..what happened to the original head unit?

      @wallsworkshop  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I mentioned it but it was quite a while ago now it broke on the summer. It got caught in a boot loop and never fully powered on, turns out it’s a common fault on these

    Awh mate should’ve dropped me a message I can fix the boot loop easily x

      @wallsworkshop  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      no way! damn I wish I knew lol, what actually causes the issue? I did try to fix it by reloading the software etc. and no luck at all.

      @@wallsworkshop yeah man, soz should of said it’s me Josh, from the SSSOC, blue Swift sport 32s.
      It’s a bootloop issue that can be easily fixed with specific Garmin files on an SD card.
      No matter tho, cos your new one looks so dope

      @@joshpiper22racing ahhh yes Josh! Sadly I did try and reload the Garmin files with an SD card and it still didn't work which baffled me tbh. Thanks man, It's miles better than the standard head unit, no lag or anything

    I might've missed it but do the steering wheel controls still work? It's been on my todo list for a while but with an android auto/car play unit.

    • @wallsworkshop
      @wallsworkshop  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Sadly no they don't work, it is possible you just need the correct wire harness to plug into the head unit which didn't come with my kit. I may sort it out in the future but it doesn't bother me too much at the moment.
