TLD Beginner's Guide (made by a madman)

- After some script writing, and planning it all out, I have made my first guide to Mount and Blade's TLD Overhaul Mod, I hope this encourages people to enjoy getting used to the difficult gameplay of this amazing mod.
If you want to see other guides for LOTR themed games, leave comments so I can dedicate time to getting it ready, I have many plans in the works, but very little incentive to focus on one game at the moment.

I have never, in my entire life, watched a video that could benefit more from a dedicated script.
True, but to be fair that could be said for all my videos haha, I am terrible at remembering scripts

I played this mod a few years ago, playing as evil, especially starting near Rohan or Elves, is basically a desperate fight for survival
Yeah I have done a bit of tld, didn't get much attention, but this guide quickly became well known
@@Naodline2627 I think it's because the mod mechanics are fairly different from the base game and there aren't many guides or tutorials around, except for old guides written on steam or forums, so a beginner's guide is bound to be welcome
By the way, do you know if the nightly patches are the only updates in recent times?

I play 3.6 version and i cant recruiting companies because they dont exist and i cant send gift other nation because they dont exist
If this is the newest version I dont know what they have done, but the version I played had access to companions through several settlements in certain location (normally in centre). As for sending gifts you talk to the leader of the faction once the war has begun and you can transfer your currency with that faction to a different faction when you talk to the leader of the faction you are sending the gift to
How to find shire for evil faction?
The shire has not been included into the game as of yet, they have mentioned in the past they are going to include the western side if the misty mountains, but I think it will never come to pass
Wait did the game get updated? When did crossbows come in the game
That was an update about 6 months ago, when they updated dale and erebor armour and weapons

Do you recommend fighting for a lord of your faction or fighting on your own? Cheers mate, new player here from 2024.
I recommend try to do as many quests as possible even during the war and whenever you see a notification saying a lord has besieged a settlement or you see a big battle that you can sway in your favour to join in. Another thing you can do is level troops fast and gift them to your lords so they can keep fighting with large numbers and you dont get charged for having upgraded them

Is it possible to play tld with a friend where both of us can have parties and work together?
I wish that would be possible unfortunately I have not seen any multiplayer functions for this game
I already got to war but i cant attack castles 😅 im so confused still
You cannot besiege castles, only the lords can, and you back them up

@@ExploringAndMe you are always tied to thr faction you started with, but if any city is under siege from an ally or enemy you can participate while the siege is maintained, also factions typically only siege someone with low faction strength

@@ExploringAndMe no worries, unsure about any other mods but I imagine it is unless they adapted something to it
What is the best mod tld or tld overhaul
It depends on your preference, they are both very similar with small changes, tld overhaul is slightly more advanced
when i lose a battle i cant do anything i mean the game stucks there and cant continue. :/
That could be because you have permanent death enabled, or you are left knocked out for a very long time, it can happen if you're unprepared, an easy way to counter that is focus on upgrading wild craft and keeping a smaller elite force so you can escape massive battles without losing everything

You have tips to help fighting a Ent?
Same as fighting a troll, lots of archers will bring it down eventually

How do you dis mount
You press f while standing still, same for getting on a mount or collecting weapons arrows etc.
How do I turn off the Permadeath for lords?
You do that in the tld options, which you can do from the start of a game or by pressing action when not near a settlment

How do o get trops
You get troops from quartermasters from settlements, the pool of recruitment refreshes every day
How do you hire people?
When you enter a location, you need to visit the barracks or whatever it is called, the top option let's you recruit, and the second option let's you send troops to protect the location
@@Naodline2627 I know I’m really late, as I sort of took a break from this mod, but whenever I go to the barracks no one wants to go with me? They always say “no one else is ready to go” Any idea why this is?
@@starnger6791 depends on when you go there, in the very beginning there will be little to no troops, but the more days that pass and the stronger the faction, new troops should become available
How do you get the region names on the map?
They should be there by default, might depend upon what version you have

@@Naodline2627 My computer runs Linux, and I'm using the Proton version. The native Linux version has a glitch where one of the fords is impassable.
Which version you play 3.5? or other?
