Was laying in my shitty little bed in my stupid little cell one night when I was in prison and this very jools holland session was on, then heard this tune..literally made me think about my life, was one of them moments I'll never forget ..beautiful song
great music can do that...
love Churches... own every stage they get to... see them live - awesome
Cannot believe how many negative comments there are here. Chvrches owned it and they are one of the brightest groups around. Their performances live particularly at Reading were fantastic. You go girl!
Beautiful performance ❤
Jools Holland never fails to spot the gems :) So happy for Chvrches. Lauren's dancing at the end is so adorable. Hoorah!
The first time I saw Chvrches where I fell in love with there sound and Lauren
I'm in love with chvrches music its so relaxing and peaceful
that amazing moment in which Janelle Monáe is watching CHVRCHES' presentation :)
Such a brilliant piece of music. I have very high hopes for this band!
Fav Chvrches song. Scottish band. Playing Scottish gig next month!...and I'm missing it due to work. GUTTED.
She's got an amazing voice
what a beautiful song and a great performance.
i think this version of the song is my favourite...can listen to this over and over :)
AMO ESTE SHOW. GRACIAS JOOLS HOLLAND ❤
The Song We Share.
Angel
Love how everyone is criticising and judging this like their opinion on this single video is going to effect the band in any way whatsoever
Im not a massive fan of Chvrches but this was a brilliant performance. Really captivating
Amazing, they sound so much better live.
love it, cant wait to hear the album
still love this as much the day I saw it first broadcast, love this band!!
That voice could melt the coldest heart

i'm 43 and loving their album! age is just a- i need to have a nap now.
Asif Khan Now you are 48 and I‘m 46 ... I hope you still like good music like I do, because it never gets old ... 😉
Throwing up rainbows. love love love
Every now and then Later has a decent and interesting new band on. This is one of those occasions. Yazoo meets the Cocteau Twins meets Harriet Fraser.
2:27 thatttt sound 🤤
I think they're more similar to Purity Ring than La Roux.
But there hasn't been such clean, well executed electro-pop in a while.
great stuff :-) no lost pads there...eyes and ears ! its not a drum pad,its a sound pad...vocals.
Yeah, I look forward to someone singing this on X Factor.
❤️💃🏴
lauren my waifu
the pads from the roland juno are not loud enough! check other live versions or the studio version. you'll hear it :)
Será q eles cantaram só uma música?
You gotta be high! No way is that better than CHVRCHES.
there are two studio versions...the album version has a bit more reverb and the original is a bit stronger. Seems the original is much harder to get now though.
I thought of Clare when i first saw this group.
The missing part is the best part
my waifu
Yes FBI? This comment right here.
google "hybrid 6.0" if you like electro stuff with a heavier edge
Everyone is a fucking music critic.
Nathan Smith haa
Nathan Smith Couldn't agree more, there's some massive pricks on here..
Yeaaahhh and? Do you not have an opinion or something?
4 eyed Killer I don't get youtube these days. Are you asking me something?
+J Brisc if people don't tag who they are talking to they are usually speaking to the original comment.
Whoever was the sound engineer on this recording needs sacking.
+fjh1616 Yes because clearly a show like Later is going to employ amateurs.
nick harman
Well considering the end result I assume that this time they did ;).
+fjh1616 Personally not being a sound engineer myself (it's funny how many people comment on TH-cam vids saying they could have done a better job of it sound-wise, presumably they are unemployed sound engineers?) this sounds ok to me. I imagine it is a) mixed live and they have to deal with all kinds of bands and b) for a generic TV speaker, the lowest common denominator to be safe.
@Chris 1983 I have never mixed for anybody, I am what is called a member of the public. The analogue bass is very much a star of this song and needs to be heard the way it is. It sounds great.
I think your problem is that you want to show off, as if anyone gives a shit about whose amps you've carried, and all that metal has made you tone deaf.
was thinking the same. the synths are lost in the mix. maybe its the new revision of the album as if you listen to chvrches from early days the mix is different. i prefer the old mix.
Sometimes when this place gets kind of...OPS! Wrong Church ; )))))))))))))
Keep a prize with me...
She was a bit nervous it seems. Anyway, they performed live very well.
@ mac abre...I don't know if you realized but it's the vocal/melody and the synths/effects driving this song not the beat. IMHO it doesn't need a live drummer. I play in a band and i understand your concern..but not relevant for this style song. It didn't bother Yazoo and Depeche Mode in the early days. How well did they do? This music is similar. Hence why Depeche Mode asked them to open a few shows for them. I am not a fan of churches(only heard a few songs but what i hear is good) but just wanted to show that a REAL LIVE DRUMMER is not necessary. Stop trying to be a traditionalist or realist and realise that sometimes less is more. No argument with you...just each to their own. Peace....
+The Yaks Why would you have a real drummer in a synth band? The robotic nature of a drum machine is part of what makes the synth sound what it is.
They also played 'Lies' on Jools Holland. How come it hasn't been uploaded?
lmao
Aww, that mic is too high for her X3
scuffs up?
something is missing in this version of the song :\
She's like the melancholic daughter of Claire Grogan. And I am too old to be posting on TH-cam.
Two people don't wish to share their mothers.
2:15 all what ?
sckuf = fucks, said backwards
Scuffs up
TUNNE
Look up Celluloide - Make Things Last, on TH-cam, it's a million times better than Chrvches
Amazing how her incredible voice compensates for a terrible sound mix.
When ppl comment about those who vote thumbs down, it's usually accompanied with a simplistic assumption. While I don't vote thumbs down for this, I find the song's structure pretty lame. but there are plus points, her voice, her lyrics, & the fact they decided to play an actual instrument (bass) rather than that over-used laptop pad teckie DJ finger dance. Besides if 6 people thumb down 22,000+ ppl (to date) don't really care enough to vote or comment. What's worse?
the synths were too weak sounding
A poor man's La Roux
game of thrones
this mixing on Later.. is ALWAYS shit
I've always been annoyed by "oh oh oh"s at the beginning. Good for them.
Most overrated Glasgow band of 2013. Will the hype never end...
spuffchops70 naw chance bawjaws
She doesn't hold the pitch everytime.
Too bad.
this sounds as cheap as the tunes I listened to on Top of the Pops growing up in the 90's
danthelambboy Then you grew up in the false decade ... 😉
They need a drummer, it's a crying vacuum, and so what if they were flavour of the month, the drum track is one of the worst I've heard. It sounds like a carphone warehouse promo advert, but for the voice and lyrics - get a drummer who can sort your tinny mess out, or the singer should find a band who play real instruments
They must have read this
They have one now 😜
