This was what I wanted to have happen. The new site is good looking esthetically, but something is still lost with having just one Freedom Tower. The Twin Towers, for whatever you may think of them from a beauty point of view, it had a look that defined Lower Manhattan’s skyline that the newer complex does not duplicate.

I really like what they did with the WTC site, especially the memorial and museum underneath. My only complaint is that they didn't build twin structures when they built 1 WTC. Hopefully if they ever come up with a design for 2 WTC it would be a mirror imagine of 1 to complete the memorial and finally fill the missing piece in the NYC skyline.

I think the twin towers original facade was still modern, I just think the windows could’ve been wider. 1. instead of 18 inches, 2 feet like on the observatory floors and windows on the world. 2. Between the columns reflective glass. 3. The upper columns have reflective chrome instead of just the tridents at the lobby level. 4. Both towers be 1776 feet at roof height. 5. All the safety/structural improvements of the current 1 world trade including denser steel perimeter columns.
The reason why the windows on the Twin Towers were so narrow is because the architect responsible for designing them was afraid of heights if you wanna know.
While normally i dont agree with or side with Trump, i understand what he was getting at with rebuilding the towers "as they were". His argument was that every time you see an old movie or pictures of New York and the Twin Towers are in it, one automatically is reminded of the horrible end they met. Also, to rebuild them looking like they did, but a little taller and with additional safety features would show the enemies of freedom that we can come back stronger against terrorism and life will go on once again. It makes sense in that way.

I also feel that the best response to what happened on that terrible day was to rebuild what was destroyed PERIOD! Maybe not the same exact design but to me, that would've given those asshats a strong middle finger. I read someplace that many New Yorkers and families and friends of victims and survivors were in favor of a complete rebuild of the towers, not tower.

I originally said rebuild it just the way it was. But I love the memorial they built. Can't wait to see it in person. I'm not too fond of the freedom tower because it's so different from the original twin towers. But if they built 2 world trade center the same as the freedom tower without the antenna, that would be satisfactory for me.
I hate the glass look. Take the Freedom Tower down and rebuild the original Twin Towers as they were, but with improved structural engineering and safeguards.
Personally, I think the new One WTC is a masterpiece in it’s own right & a symbol of a new era. It’s 8-sides actually symbolizes the twin towers merged into one. As much as I love the original twin towers, rebuilding them on it’s actual site footprint, would be disregarding or denying what happened on 9/11. We can’t deny the fact that it is now a memorial site to thousands of people who died that day & that event must be remembered until the end of time.. even if you make it taller or change the color of the glass, doesn’t really matter… we must keep on reminding the whole world, over & over again, no matter how depressing it may sound, that tragedy happened, and there was once a twin tower on that site that can never be rebuilt or duplicated. Nah, screw the memorial site. That just makes the area depressing and a HUGE reminder of what occurred. It was best to rebuild with stronger structure and give the finger to those Arabs who wanted to destroy the landmark. The freedom tower is just a disgrace and looks lazily handled. A whole building made of glass that is rather dangerous that is way too thin to truly carry on the legacy of the twin towers. A waste of a monument if you ask me.
Agreed I think they made the right choice overall, rebuilding the towers could have been done but it would have been a little arrogant and kinda disrespectful to those that died and those affected by the tradegy I think. Regarding the memorial I think that could have been scaled down to just a park as what is there is quite a big reminder of the tradegy, dunno it would be up to the victim families want they ultimately want I think.
Exactly! What I also like about the new tower is that it reflects the sky. What’s the first thing an eyewitness mentions when they talk about that day? They remark on how beautiful the sky was. In that way, and in how the tower resembles the twins merged into one, is a fitting tribute.

Second, the tower do not resemble the twin ones at all even merged as one. It would have to be twice the width and have those steel grey outer structures for that one to give some sort of a resemblance. Trust me, if it was profitable to rebuild the twins it would’ve been done almost immediately. Even Larry Silverstein (the WTC leaseholder) supported the idea of a more grandiose rebuilding or a twin for Freedom Tower. I think it’s definitely still possible that a twin for the 1WTC could be built with a mixed-use floor plan, but the sad part about it is that no one wants to rent space in the WTC after what happened, nevermind live there. I personally think we got the best rebuilding that was economically feasible, with or without 2 world trade. Another issue with a twin tower proposal is that the foundation for the rendered tower 2 is already in place, meaning that construction crews would have to backtrack in order to fit another Freedom Tower. Is it doable? Absolutely. But does it make sense from the business and taxpayer standpoints? Probably not, and neither do the current renderings until more space at the site can be leased.
Its not so much that but rather the owners can’t secure a so called anchor tenet to justify the building costs; hence why WTC2 hasn’t been constructed.

@@crs2385 I took about 7 years to build the twin towers, and 3 years until they reach they height. The twin towers are way more futuristic with automatic window washers. The freedom towers is the opposite of free, now everything is outdated, there very strict rules, windows are washed with hand, much less people are around, no concert, no music, just a depressing memorial and Souless glass towers build by the rich.

Excellent topic to cover this hits home quite literally. I was close by when that unfortunate day. Yes I want the second tower back and they should just build the same one they have now but without an antenna so that it's simply a modern version of the twin towers. Hopefully they do this in another 10 years or so and this could give some time for most people to Let the past go.

Agreed. Speaking as a foreigner, the Twin Towers gave the New York skyline so much more personality and beauty. Now NYC's skyline looks like basically any other's.
The politics got really toxic here after 9/11 which is sad. I was 21 Navy Vet back then and remember that feeling on 9/12 and we were all United. I think social media is a blessing and a curse.
Thank you for your service, Sir. I'm 19 years old and never lived through that fateful day, but I spend countless hours each year exploring any and all 9/11 related media I can. Sadly, many people my age have grown up seeing 9/11 as a distant event, and even an occasional punchline of a "dark joke." As much as I appreciate dark humor, I can never bring myself to make light of that day. But I am able to see the unity it fostered among the American people, and it gives me genuine confidence in our ability to succeed as a nation, in spite of our obstacles and the often sickening levels of political polarization we face. As harrowing as 9/11 was, to me, it also provides a window into an America more unified than I have ever seen in my own lifetime. And that brief glimpse of history inspires me more than almost anything else on Earth. I hope we never forget. 🇺🇲
I don't know but it feels weird 9/11 was that young. The hijackers died on Tuesday September 11th, 2001. The passengers died and so much chaos was made. It feels weird that this happened a few months before the release of GTA 3 and TH-cam, Roblox, Iraqi-US war. It feels weird and off that is happened in 2001. I sometimes think it happens on 2004 or 2010 sometimes. It is off that is happened in 2001. I also like "dark humour", but after seeing a 9/11 video and realising the deaths that happened, it is sad.

I imagine there had to be a delicate balance between respecting the dead, and moving forward as a society. The memorial plaza and museum were the correct calls, and they give context to what happened in the area on that day (education is paramount after all). In terms of rebuilding the actual towers: I think people would've said the "new" twin towers will "never replace the old ones" as well (even if they were exact replicas). We all know how complacent people can be at times. Personally, I love One World Trade. I think it's iconic in its own right, and really symbolizes rebirth after a horrific tragedy. It feels like the lone child of two well respected parents who were tragically gunned down, and prospering very well despite it all; carrying the legacy of what came before, but also reinventing a new path forward. Down the road, I think people will grow to love it (similar to the original towers). Especially those who will grow up with it.

Because rebuilding the new two towers with the same design as the deceased former towers is very depressing and haunting and heartful in America. The people who died in the former tower buildings and on the planes that were hijacked by middle east terrorist is still in people's minds and the memories are depressing, people are still emotional about it. Let say you had a house, and the house burnt down, you had a family member who died in that house when it burnt down. You and everyone else are grieving emotionally, you decide to build a new house after tearing it down in the same location. You start to become depressed, mentally ill and the memories of what haunts your mindset even worse. The wtc monument is better as a grave site. Rebuilding the building somewhere else is even better.
Donald Trump personally offered to rebuilt the Twin Towers. He hired an architect named Kenneth Gardner. The design was almost identical to what we lost. Memorial is perfect. Should have rebuilt them next to the original footprints. Both 1776ft and 1WTC beyond 2000ft with a spire/antenna. Silver and similar look to the originals...the modern blue glass box look is over kill in the city now.

When people say 1 WTC doesn’t honor the Twins I get confused and have to wonder, have you walked the site? If you approach the building, from four facades you do feel the old building, then it rises into a point…. Infinity. From the corners, from a single point the original facade appears in the sky. Really, you can experience the original Towers. I’ve always supported the idea of building a new set of twins, but what we got is pretty damn good. It’s ethereal…

The same Buildings, same look, twin towers modernized, with a stronger core, concrete protected, that’s what I would have done. And I would have recycled original steel from the original towers to honor history and all the people. I‘m sure most people would like the idea.

I would've made the skeletal frame of the buildings have waterfalls going down to the reflection pools with colorful lights as well has the blue spot light on top. Then instead of having two be built in it planned location have 5 be there and two where 5 at and make the Spiderman version of the freedom tower. That way it looks like a diagonal of the 4 buildings. Sadly I would've done it at the new temple spot but since that there building 5 area makes sense.

I love the new WTC, but on its own, it’s missing something. It’s a shame tower two was never rebuilt. I understand it’s because businesses didn’t want to pay sky high prices to rent offices in there.
Where the twin towers functioned as a monument to America's economic dominance. The One World Trade Center functions as a beacon or lighthouse to hope, freedom, and possibility in a way that is very different from the original WTC, it's not bad, it's just different. I think both building complexes tell different stories and yet are very inspiring forms of architecture in their own right that tell the story of who America is.
When you don’t have a job, you have plenty of time to fantasize about being an architect and providing commentary despite never accomplishing anything.
Very interesting idea, though I really like the idea of how they did with ground zero as a memorial, it's such a peaceful place in middle of a very loud and fast past city, a place to reflect. But they could have went with your idea together with the memorial and not built the towers in the exact same place. I can see it too being too hard for people to build two towers again even if they didn't look exactly the same.
Don’t get me wrong, the memorial site for 9/11 is very beautiful and aesthetically pleasing to the eye. But it just isn’t the same as having the original Twin Towers. I was born almost 2 years after 9/11, but my parents remember is clear as day. My parents lived (they still do) in Michigan at the time and my mom was 6 months pregnant with my older sister who would be born a little over 3 months later. Again, the current memorial site is extremely beautiful and peaceful. But not having the Twin Towers there makes it feel like the skyline is missing something. But what concerns me about rebuilding them is mainly the survivors, their families, and the family and friends of the victims. Seeing carbon copies of the Twin Towers could reignite memories they’re trying the recover from. It would more than likely be too much for them to process seeing the same Twin Towers. Not to mention the extreme number of paranormal activity that would occur. There’s already been paranormal activity reported at each 9/11 attack site/ memorial and rebuilding the Twin Towers would make it worse.

I understand that office space isnt as needed now, but really why do we think we need the entire tower to be inhabitable? Leave the top 50 floors as solor panels and blank space even. Im all for building a giant box in the sky that has zero use other than being a memorial.
Why theres N/S but no E/W towers? 4 way compase towers in 1 block radius close to each other like a T shape and a world globe courtyard in center outside with a triangle shape on 1 side of each towers pointing to there direction and there be 4 hotels inbetween 4 towers
I would have rebuilt the Twin Towers exactly as they stood before (with just one exception). On top of the South Tower I would have built a "Giant Mechanical Arm." A "Giant Mechanical Arm" with a big steel hand attached to it. If any airplanes were to try to fly into either of the towers again... the mechanical arm/hand would simply swat them away... as if they were flies!! FWWAAAAAAAPPPPPP!!!!!

idk why people think rebuilding the twin towers would be better. First of all it would be hella traumatic for all the workers and victims of those of who lost family members or loved ones in the building. to be honest I think Two world Trade Center as a Twin IS more agreeable and More Appropriate for both the site and Investors.

I think the twin towers original facade was still modern, I just think the windows could’ve been wider.
1. instead of 18 inches, 2 feet like on the observatory floors and windows on the world.
2. Between the columns reflective glass.
3. The upper columns have reflective chrome instead of just the tridents at the lobby level.
4. Both towers be 1776 feet at roof height.
5. All the safety/structural improvements of the current 1 world trade including denser steel perimeter columns.
The reason why the windows on the Twin Towers were so narrow is because the architect responsible for designing them was afraid of heights if you wanna know.

While normally i dont agree with or side with Trump, i understand what he was getting at with rebuilding the towers "as they were". His argument was that every time you see an old movie or pictures of New York and the Twin Towers are in it, one automatically is reminded of the horrible end they met. Also, to rebuild them looking like they did, but a little taller and with additional safety features would show the enemies of freedom that we can come back stronger against terrorism and life will go on once again. It makes sense in that way.

I also feel that the best response to what happened on that terrible day was to rebuild what was destroyed PERIOD! Maybe not the same exact design but to me, that would've given those asshats a strong middle finger. I read someplace that many New Yorkers and families and friends of victims and survivors were in favor of a complete rebuild of the towers, not tower.

I originally said rebuild it just the way it was. But I love the memorial they built. Can't wait to see it in person. I'm not too fond of the freedom tower because it's so different from the original twin towers. But if they built 2 world trade center the same as the freedom tower without the antenna, that would be satisfactory for me.

Personally, I think the new One WTC is a masterpiece in it’s own right & a symbol of a new era. It’s 8-sides actually symbolizes the twin towers merged into one.
As much as I love the original twin towers, rebuilding them on it’s actual site footprint, would be disregarding or denying what happened on 9/11. We can’t deny the fact that it is now a memorial site to thousands of people who died that day & that event must be remembered until the end of time.. even if you make it taller or change the color of the glass, doesn’t really matter… we must keep on reminding the whole world, over & over again, no matter how depressing it may sound, that tragedy happened, and there was once a twin tower on that site that can never be rebuilt or duplicated.
I dunno.. That’s just me.. I love the twin towers, but they are now just a part of history & our memories & the only way to move forward, without forgeting them, is to see something new & fresh..
Nah, screw the memorial site. That just makes the area depressing and a HUGE reminder of what occurred. It was best to rebuild with stronger structure and give the finger to those Arabs who wanted to destroy the landmark. The freedom tower is just a disgrace and looks lazily handled. A whole building made of glass that is rather dangerous that is way too thin to truly carry on the legacy of the twin towers. A waste of a monument if you ask me.
Agreed I think they made the right choice overall, rebuilding the towers could have been done but it would have been a little arrogant and kinda disrespectful to those that died and those affected by the tradegy I think. Regarding the memorial I think that could have been scaled down to just a park as what is there is quite a big reminder of the tradegy, dunno it would be up to the victim families want they ultimately want I think.

Exactly! What I also like about the new tower is that it reflects the sky. What’s the first thing an eyewitness mentions when they talk about that day? They remark on how beautiful the sky was. In that way, and in how the tower resembles the twins merged into one, is a fitting tribute.

Second, the tower do not resemble the twin ones at all even merged as one. It would have to be twice the width and have those steel grey outer structures for that one to give some sort of a resemblance. The freedom tower was a sorry half ass excuse to replace them when they should have just rebuilt the original ones again and acted like this whole terrorist thing never occurred.

Trust me, if it was profitable to rebuild the twins it would’ve been done almost immediately. Even Larry Silverstein (the WTC leaseholder) supported the idea of a more grandiose rebuilding or a twin for Freedom Tower. I think it’s definitely still possible that a twin for the 1WTC could be built with a mixed-use floor plan, but the sad part about it is that no one wants to rent space in the WTC after what happened, nevermind live there. I personally think we got the best rebuilding that was economically feasible, with or without 2 world trade. Another issue with a twin tower proposal is that the foundation for the rendered tower 2 is already in place, meaning that construction crews would have to backtrack in order to fit another Freedom Tower. Is it doable? Absolutely. But does it make sense from the business and taxpayer standpoints? Probably not, and neither do the current renderings until more space at the site can be leased.
Its not so much that but rather the owners can’t secure a so called anchor tenet to justify the building costs; hence why WTC2 hasn’t been constructed.
Problem is a twin to freedom tower would have to stand next to it, and without the symmetry because the twin tombstones are in the way

I'm 19 years old and never lived through that fateful day, but I spend countless hours each year exploring any and all 9/11 related media I can. Sadly, many people my age have grown up seeing 9/11 as a distant event, and even an occasional punchline of a "dark joke." As much as I appreciate dark humor, I can never bring myself to make light of that day. But I am able to see the unity it fostered among the American people, and it gives me genuine confidence in our ability to succeed as a nation, in spite of our obstacles and the often sickening levels of political polarization we face.
As harrowing as 9/11 was, to me, it also provides a window into an America more unified than I have ever seen in my own lifetime. And that brief glimpse of history inspires me more than almost anything else on Earth. I hope we never forget. 🇺🇲

The hijackers died on Tuesday September 11th, 2001. The passengers died and so much chaos was made. It feels weird that this happened a few months before the release of GTA 3 and TH-cam, Roblox, Iraqi-US war. It feels weird and off that is happened in 2001. I imagine there had to be a delicate balance between respecting the dead, and moving forward as a society. The memorial plaza and museum were the correct calls, and they give context to what happened in the area on that day (education is paramount after all). In terms of rebuilding the actual towers: I think people would've said the "new" twin towers will "never replace the old ones" as well (even if they were exact replicas). We all know how complacent people can be at times.
Personally, I love One World Trade. I think it's iconic in its own right, and really symbolizes rebirth after a horrific tragedy. It feels like the lone child of two well respected parents who were tragically gunned down, and prospering very well despite it all; carrying the legacy of what came before, but also reinventing a new path forward. Down the road, I think people will grow to love it (similar to the original towers). Especially those who will grow up with it.

Because rebuilding the new two towers with the same design as the deceased former towers is very depressing and haunting and heartful in America. The people who died in the former tower buildings and on the planes that were hijacked by middle east terrorist is still in people's minds and the memories are depressing, people are still emotional about it. Let say you had a house, and the house burnt down, you had a family member who died in that house when it burnt down. You and everyone else are grieving emotionally, you decide to build a new house after tearing it down in the same location. You start to become depressed, mentally ill and the memories of what haunts your mindset even worse. The wtc monument is better as a grave site. Rebuilding the building somewhere else is even better.

I would've made the skeletal frame of the buildings have waterfalls going down to the reflection pools with colorful lights as well has the blue spot light on top. Then instead of having two be built in it planned location have 5 be there and two where 5 at and make the Spiderman version of the freedom tower. That way it looks like a diagonal of the 4 buildings. Sadly I would've done it at the new temple spot but since that there building 5 area makes sense.

I love the new WTC, but on its own, it’s missing something. It’s a shame tower two was never rebuilt. I understand it’s because businesses didn’t want to pay sky high prices to rent offices in there.
Where the twin towers functioned as a monument to America's economic dominance. The One World Trade Center functions as a beacon or lighthouse to hope, freedom, and possibility in a way that is very different from the original WTC, it's not bad, it's just different. I think both building complexes tell different stories and yet are very inspiring forms of architecture in their own right that tell the story of who America is.

Very interesting idea, though I really like the idea of how they did with ground zero as a memorial, it's such a peaceful place in middle of a very loud and fast past city, a place to reflect. But they could have went with your idea together with the memorial and not built the towers in the exact same place. I can see it too being too hard for people to build two towers again even if they didn't look exactly the same.

Don’t get me wrong, the memorial site for 9/11 is very beautiful and aesthetically pleasing to the eye. But it just isn’t the same as having the original Twin Towers. I was born almost 2 years after 9/11, but my parents remember is clear as day. My parents lived (they still do) in Michigan at the time and my mom was 6 months pregnant with my older sister who would be born a little over 3 months later. Again, the current memorial site is extremely beautiful and peaceful. But not having the Twin Towers there makes it feel like the skyline is missing something. But what concerns me about rebuilding them is mainly the survivors, their families, and the family and friends of the victims. Seeing carbon copies of the Twin Towers could reignite memories they’re trying the recover from. It would more than likely be too much for them to process seeing the same Twin Towers. Not to mention the extreme number of paranormal activity that would occur. There’s already been paranormal activity reported at each 9/11 attack site/ memorial and rebuilding the Twin Towers would make it worse.
For once, I agree with Trump lol. I wish they would’ve rebuilt them, the exact same way with updates ofcourse! I was down on Chambers St. yesterday and it still feels weird not seeing the towers along the skyline. To me, the freedom tower doesn’t have the same “wow factor”. 😔

The new building was designed by a guy named David Childs, who works for SOM.
I understand that office space isnt as needed now, but really why do we think we need the entire tower to be inhabitable? Leave the top 50 floors as solor panels and blank space even. Im all for building a giant box in the sky that has zero use other than being a memorial.
I never got to go to the original WTC, and I feel like the One WTC just doesn't have the same effect. Oh well.

4 way compase towers in 1 block radius close to each other like a T shape and a world globe courtyard in center outside with a triangle shape on 1 side of each towers pointing to there direction and there be 4 hotels inbetween 4 towers

I would have rebuilt the Twin Towers exactly as they stood before (with just one exception). On top of the South Tower I would have built a "Giant Mechanical Arm." A "Giant Mechanical Arm" with a big steel hand attached to it. If any airplanes were to try to fly into either of the towers again... the mechanical arm/hand would simply swat them away... as if they were flies!! FWWAAAAAAAPPPPPP!!!!!
I'm not sure if they could build that, or maybe they will in the future

As long as that staircase WTC 2 building isn’t built I’m fine with whatever.
It wouldn’t be the same if they just rebuilt them and they would prolly get hit again I like the fact that they just made one massive and strong new tower that unites both towers and shows the legacy and how to terrorists may have destroyed the og wtc but we can rebuild enlarge the containment field.

idk why people think rebuilding the twin towers would be better. First of all it would be hella traumatic for all the workers and victims of those of who lost family members or loved ones in the building. Also it would just serve as another target for terrorist groups. They tried to get rid of them with the bombing first, then they finally got rid of the towers with the planes. What makes you think they wouldn't try again, no matter how much security there is.
