I have lost faith in Amazon getting Stargate produced. Maybe it would be best if the sold the rights to Netflix. Jay, I believe you are doing a great job keeping us informed. Keep up the good work, Don't let the excrement cranium people get you down.

Rumors or factual ... Jay you can only say what you can do and or telling us to the best of your ability is all that you can say for all things that we wish to hear and we thank you for doing so. For those who don't realize the efforts as laid out by SciTrek and the information given as being a rumor or factual ... Listen to what is being told to you because we all love our SciFi and we all want to see our favorite shows to come back to the big and small screen so everyone take a break! One day it will happen!
It seems this is industry wide. Between the pandemic, corporate maneuvering, the strikes and the overall fragmentation of audiences it's surprising anything gets made at all. All we want as the watching public is the content itself, good or bad but hopefully good. If that is via TV or streaming or theater release or all platforms simultaneously doesn't really matter. As Robert Meyer Burnett says : " good stories; well told ". That's all we, as audiences, want. I'm in my early 70s. I fear I won't be around to see much of what is in the works. In the meantime I'll continue to re watch my faves and hope for the best. Keep up the good work Jay. What you are attempting to do , frustrating as it is , is keeping everyone informed as best you can. That's all one can ask for.
The problem is that the gate itself uses old tech. The electric bills were horrible. Even the military wanted to shut it down. 🤔
So called “latest and greatest” often costs more and delivers less - it just “looks pretty” for executives. 30 years is usually the mark of a product making it - so real question is what has Sam Carter been working on for that time that just reached production status in the new series?

@@ZeusLT well now I look stupid, but what the heck its a Tuesday. Suffice to say one of the main things I was excited for was the attention to detail. There are a lot of oopsies around how the Stargate works for one thing. IDC's being received before the gate is even open, the Stargate spontaneously opening from an incoming wormhole while other times it goes through the whole spin dialling just like with a rotary phone. I'm pretty tired right now but yikes, the continuity around how the Stargate works is full of holes.
The trouble is the Stargate mods got hit with a cease and desist order after over a decade of being in operation, and I don't see any Homeworld/Sins of the Solar Empire/Empire at War replacement forthcoming. Having a campy Canadian/Australian/British/New Zealand/US series with quirky humour with the same attention to scientific detail in space as the Expanse would be a breath of fresh air, but it's really difficult to get the business executives to do anything other than edgy dystopia, because according to their business strategy, depressed people spend more money. I may or may not be a rare exception, because the only thing I buy these days from sci-fi is Halo fiction, just in case Microsoft lets something slip (which they did).

All I wanted was Atlantis to be continued with even just 2 or 3 more seasons, but as the years go by, that dream is nothing more than a pipe dream. I wanted Universe to continue and find out what ever happened to Destiny. Sad thing is all the original actors have aged so much since that any return would be done with all new actors and just wouldnt be the same.

I have been watching your videos almost since the beginning, in the early days it used to be almost daily news about the new brad Stargate project and after it was clear it's not gonna happen, I unsubscribed because I didn't want to keep my hopes up and continue to be disappointed but I kept coming back and checking your videos out of curiosity and it was always stated clearly you just bringing news that is rumors! It was cool to have a window on what's happening in the backstages. Thanks dude for your effort and love for good science fiction. ❤

What? They're blaming a recession for streaming services being cancelled by us subscribers? I can only answer for myself: I quit streaming because I was paying a monthly fee for a ton of bad programing I wasn't watching. The one or two shows I *was* watching I ran through quickly due to a minimum number of episodes...and still the fees were coming out of my account each month. So I quit. Simple...
On the larger picture people do tend to cut things like this during periods or recession.. which only makes sense during a chat of living crises.. you cut out things that are not needed as much as things like.. food… electricity.

If I/we made it in the 1970s and 80s (just unreleased) then there will be. If we didn't make it, then there will not be unless they make now (2020s) a new Stargate TV series truly and completely new.
Jay, glad to see you're back talking about the gate. It's frustrating, yes, but I agree with you on everything accept one thing - the possibility of a complete reboot, formatting etc... never going to happen. They would bee fools to throw away 17 seasons of canon, although there is no need to completely tie themselves down with it either.
Just as the series Stargate was based on the one we saw in the movie, the new Stargate will look the same. Therefore its in the same universe. There's no need to do the whole BSG all over again bs...If they were to do that crap here, plus other silly changes like "let's make the gate pink&female", they would shoot themselves in the head.

I concur with what some others have said. Amazon sell the rights to Stargate to someone who can be industrious and clear of mind. Some one who can come up with an idea and see it thru to a finished product that we can all be onboard with. Because frankly, Amazon, you guys aren't it chief.
MGM never wanted Stargate. They wanted to take the loss and write it off rather than take the minor profit from servicing the fans. Guaranteed profit vs potential loss always wins with pennypinchers. They can't see next week, only immediate profit.
This has made some maddening delays that are no ones fault really.
Great summary. I have been dropping by from time to time for any tidbits you might have herd about Stargate. Yes it is a bit frustrating that it is taking so long but that's how it goes. Still looking forward to seeing where the franchise is taken.
On a side note what was with those subtitles? They were very distracting and completely unneeded.
So who is pitching the idea / writing it? because I have a great idea i'd give away sign papers saying i'd want no compensation or credit but it starts with Eli waking up Rush on the Destiny , Eli has been alone for 12 years , he's older, thinner as in real life and has finally figured out how to gate back to earth with dark energy but needs Rush's help. They contact SG Command and they say "who is this? what is the destiny?" Then after Eli explains destiny and the ancients "ancient what?" so Eli goes through the gate by himself as Rush wants to stay on board to work on using the dark energy to power the ship.
Eli comes through the stargate and Daniel and Col Sheppard are there all of them dont know Atlantis or any missions after turning the Aschen away and after the near miss they think gate travel was told to stop by the world governments. Daniel was there studying the decades worth of study on artifacts they had gotten off world in the few years they were active and Sheppard was in charge of making sure no enemy comes through the stargate. A new lead character of the show is there helping Daniel and the dark energy connection some how effected this new character and he or she gets a snippet of a memory from 10 years ago, then Daniel remembers something and so does Sheppard, So they go off world again with a new team and find out its not just them, everyone that uses star gates in the milky way just stopped using it for a decade with memories gone. They meet a new villain race that may or may not have something to do with it all.
This is a continuation, a mystery to solve, new villains, and solving the whole heroes too powerful with all the technology gotten by the time atlantis ended. all the super advanced technology gone and only as mysteries solved and memories come back slowly does technology gained in SG1 and Atlantis return . Also you can make it where Teyla , Ronin, Tealc etc thought they were earthlings and on earth the whole time.

If a new series from the star Gate series universe ever materialises, let's hope it's not like TNG was like for the trek universe, I remember the disappointment of the first season. Although bad, it took some time to mature. Hope whoever produces it is an actual fan, and can appreciate the humour!
We're probably better off without a new Stargate show. I would be very worried that they might bastardize the living F out of the IP. Think what Disney has done with Star Wars.

Jay, Is there anyway to turn off the moving subtitles/captions you have added to your latest videos? As someone who with not great eyes, it does not help with headaches and makes your videos impossible to watch (at least for me) - Great content but those subtitles make it unwatchable.

Stupid Covid!!! Yeah Covid ruined a lot of things. It ended The Orville, which was a really really good show. It was more like Star Trek than even Star Trek Discovery. R.I.P. Orville. Speaking of Stargate, I'm still very upset that they cancelled SGU. I want SGU back more than SG-1. I know a lot of people are gonna disagree with this, but oh well, I love SGU.
In the time of DEI and pronouns I don't want this generation to even think about reopening the Stargate franchise. This generation couldn't write a good story even their lives depended on it. There's a reason they have self inflicted low box offices and covid happened 4 years ago . I don't except that excuse.

What i fear would happen is this:
By the time Amazon fully commits and release a Stargate move and/or series the fandom will be too old to actually care. Revenue will be too little and some fata-- in Amazon will be like "see?! i told you this project will flop".
The original series is 20+ years old now. While some shows managed to thrive being rebooted that much time after the original - they all been reboots. Doctor Who for example switched focus from the sciency things to more adventurous series (the time in it released was good for a sci-fi adventure)
Battlestar Galactica was almost completely revamped and became a new show that just used the original concept as a backbone

Amazon bought the rights for Arcus and Rutka Lazerous graphic novel series . This is the best freshest IP in 15 to 20 years and Amazon is sitting on it . Amazon is failing in producing any worthwhile new content .
I don't have much hope for it because Amazon is in charge. They ruin everything they touch in the entertainment arena.

I'm gonna be honest, I don't think you are liar but I can see why some people think that, literally every plan to announce new Stargate, you talked about, got cancelled in some way, it's almost suspicious. And also all the changing plans from movie to TV and so on is also weird, but that's how it works I guess.

I don't think you can blame people for being skeptical. There have been rumours about Stargate returning for years and years and they've never materialised into anything. A lot of people just roll their eyes at this point and it's easy to see why.
I don’t mind skepticism.. that’s useful. Not listening is infuriating though. Or calling me a liar after other sources confirm what I said months earlier.
He has every right to blame some people for their ridiculous behavior. I know I would. Saying he said something that he didn't, would surely grind my gears. Not to mention their terrible attitude towards him, when he has no say in what happens with the studios. A few always find a way to blame him for what's "not" happening. Like a "gotcha" kinda thing.

Now mid 2024. Where is this, movie at now ? Write the sequel too while writing the first
Amazon have sunk $10m into reviving the franchise already. That's serious money. Especially over the last three years. They've got a new partner, you say. That's good, but we've been here before. A film leading into the series. The film probably counts in the number of episodes in the first season. You're going to want a series bible, budgets for the film and episodes for that first season. I could envisage 8 episodes getting an average of $5m with $60m dedicated to the film. I am just speculating. Of course, MGM and Amazon may take one look at the plans and go 'No'. MGM (and Amazon) cannot afford to mess the revival of their franchise up, again.
Now I can't talk because I am in a similar boat!

As regards getting a new Stargate series or movie or both, I will believe it when it happens. Creatively the ambition and desire is there, but then the accountants, bookkeepers and other financial personnel get involved and decide that no it's better value to waste hundreds of millions on the rings of power.
Although not directly related to science fiction I think the likes of Clarkson's farm represents a lot of the future direction of streaming. It's relatively low-cost to produce, gets better viewership figures that shows that cost hundreds of millions and is altogether low risk.
The streaming market is pretty close to saturation.
Stargate wouldn't be cheap to make and it is relatively time sensitive. The main SG one cast is pretty old and one would imagine that the scale of their future participation would diminish with time.
As far as I can tell one of the better ideas would be to continue Atlantis in some form. Although to do it properly wouldn't be cheap.
Original Stargate wasn't that expensive. It didn't need space battles most of the time, Stargate Command was always the same, planets could easily be different real places across the world.
But following SGU and end of SGA, Tau'ri is now technologically superior to all known races except maybe Nox, so I wonder how can they bring the show's spirit back. It was mostly about making allies and discovering technology.

I'm goad that the movie was probably scrapped as there's no way a movie could ever do that property justice. There's so many loose threads in yhe universe no matter which series you're basing it on.

To be honest it’s several locations.. 2 sites in Vancouver are being redeveloped for example that this group is involved in and Amazon will be taking some of.. so it is not one site it’s a dozen different sites.

Indiana Jones costed about $87 million. In theaters only Indiana Jones made $873 million. Shut up about Indiana Jones losing money when its made more than 10 times what it costed to make. You are called a liar because you have lied. I lost hope of Stargate actually being released over 10 years ago. Stargate actually ended in 2009 which sad reality is all 3 series ended at the exact same time. Its been 15 years sense Stargate was actually on the air. MGM ended the franchise because MGM didn't have the money to make anything anymore because they killed themselves off. MGM has refused to sell anything and in reality MGM is still causing problems. Lets tell the truth. There is nothing but rumors and blatant lies about it coming back. The franchise is dead. Stop lying about it comming back.

you mentioned you do not do very well on these videos but the thing i noticed is that your channel is a lower middle sized channel based on your subscribers. if you had a larger audience like some of the channels with more subs and more views you would make more money on youtube. it used to be better financially some youtubers have said but still the best paid youtubers have a millions of subscribers and more views per video which is how they have the money coming in and start other ventures like their own candy company or other merch. you could have your own sci trek t-shirts or other stuff.
We do okay and it’s a great side project. I was just making the point we don’t do it for the money.

Even if you have not actuality said that it is on/ not happening. The users interpretation of what you have said it different for everybody.
These days I find that Dial the gate gives me , what i want at this stage.. every now and then if the title of your video is interesting then i will have a look at your videos , just like i do for every you-tuber's videos. This video is in the middle ground for me, so i am not going to like it or dis like it. there should be a button for the middle ground.
Interpretation is not needed if you listen to the entire video I’d argue.. but how people perceive information does vary in fairness.
Dial the gate and Gateworld are great but they will only tell you what’s officially released or what I’ve told you 6 months before. 😉

You can guarantee there will be some kind of rainbow in the series getting tired of that too I won't let my kids watch none of that crap nope not watching it
