I have lived in Alice for over 30 years and I cannot get enough of this trail. I get out somewhere on the trail a lot of the weeks of the year. It gets in your soul...and most people leave a little bit of their soul behind. I could see the emotion in your eyes on Mt Sonders' closing shots...well done. It is a very special place that everyone should visit at some stage in their life. Thankyou for taking the time to put this together Alex.
Thanks Marc. Must be fantastic to have all that (and more) on your doorstep. Yes, I definitely felt a connection with the whole area and experience. Difficult to put it on words how impactful it was.
I must say Alex, ive watched alot of Larapinta videos and while they was great and showed the stunning scenery yours has definitley documented so much more. Thanks for sharing your journey 👍
What an amazing and exceptional documentary. Your footage and voice over are outstanding. Am thoroughly enjoying watching your adventures. Cant wait to see more from you.
Stunning Alex. What an achievement. Took me a while to watch it with how busy life is. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Filmography was stunning. Great pacing. You’ve added this incredible journey to my list.
Thanks Matt. It’s a trip well worth doing. I am releasing my day by day videos which have a bit more detail in them that you might find useful if you plan on doing the trek.
What a great video Alex. Beautiful area that’s for sure. You did an amazing job filming it and documenting your trip. Well done. Thanks for sharing your trip.
What an awesome experience Alex!! Thanks for sharing your stunning footage. If we get a fraction of that magic on our upcoming road trip through the NT, we'll be very happy.
Absolutely outstanding Alex. It is by far your finest production to date. I'd say it's even on a par with Scotty's Gone Walkabouts and Erik Off Track. Such incredible geology too. I wouldn't know which direction to look, and the recent rain made the area even more stunning to look at. 5 stars mate, I loved it! ❤
Hi Alex - its was great to see that you got there, and have absolutely smashed the video. I loved it - thought you captured some great content, and as you said you were so fortunate to have the extra green and water from the recent rains. I thought we had a lot of water in 2023 but this year was even better. I think my favorite scene was the time lapses over Counts Point with the light flicking in & out. I laughed because just as I was thinking “I hated leaving that spot” you said almost the identical words - followed up by “ …until next time” which I think again would summarize a lot of Larapinta Groupies thinking, which is “I’ll be back …” I liked the simplicity of your sleeping on the ground setup, but with the backup of a tent …. It makes setup/packup so much easier; and allows your high camps not to be so wind affected. I’ll check out the gear setup video soon - I see you found that solar panel Thanks again
I am already thinking about when I can do the Larapinta again, and I have barely gotten over the mosquito bites! Counts Point was amazing and I was so lucky to have it all to myself.
Thank you so much for sharing your beautifully filmed adventure, Alex. Congratulations on accomplishing this wonderful walk and allowing us to go along with you.
Thank you. It will be a magical experience I am sure. Enjoy it and I hope the video is helpful. I am now releasing my day by day videos which might have some useful insights and information for you.
that was a great way to spend an hour Alex, so nicely put together. You totally hit the jackpot with the greenery after the rains. The colours were insane even in video, I can't imagine how good it must have been out there! The wallaby was a treat as were the budgerigars, fairy wrens and the zebra finches. Set the bar pretty high mate 😛✌🏻
I hiked the Larapinta W2E a few weeks ago. I may even have passed you on the trail, who knows? This beautiful video makes me very much want to go back - it is stunning!
Hi Alex, Shane & I finally got to watching your video & I have to say what a an absolutely beautifully made video. We thoroughly enjoyed it & you did an amazing job capturing the spectacular scenery & wildlife. It was put together so well & the music was very fitting. Enjoyed this from beginning to end. Well done on the production & you should be so proud of your achievement walking this incredible marathon track. You looked fresh as a daisy the whole way through in spite of how you must have been feeling, bless. Also loved your solar panel set up - great planning. Shane has done part of the track & we have been toying with the idea of doing the full track ourselves but I wasn't sure my body would hold out. You have completely inspired me to pull my finger out 🥰
Thank you both. Glad you enjoyed it and looking forward to when you tackle it. With time a preparation, I am sure you'll do it easily. In fact, I understand that the women are more successful at it than the men!
Great video mate! Some absolute epic sunrise/sunset shots, it definitely makes me want to get back out to that part of the world. Awesome that you got to see it after a bit of rain, it's incredible how quick everything springs to life. How did you find the solar panel, you obviously had plenty of sun. I've always been a little bit on the fence with them.
Thank you. The second solar panel was effective. The first not so good, but kept me going for a bit. I have never needed one before and would rather save the almost 600g’s but because the track USB’s are said to be unreliable I needed to take something. All that sun helped for sure.
Mainly I liked the idea of being able to see my destination as I approached Mount Sonder. I also liked the idea that I would finish on a high note. Wandering into Alice Springs at the end seemed like a bit of an anticlimax with the first few sections E2W being less pretty that the latter, although they were much better than I expected.
I agree regarding the end point being better scenery and more of a high to end on, however we went W2E for the reason that we had more flexibility around the end date. The other unexpected advantage was seeing the lights of Alice as we walking in from Simpsons Gap on the last day, some great views from Euro Ridge. Also the allure of a shower, steak, and a bed close to hand was moral boosting through the somewhat dull last 10 odd kms. I was great to see the trail from your E2W perspective, maybe I’ll do it again one day.
@@goughytas Flexibility is definitely a plus although you then have to manage hotel bookings and homeward bound flights. Nonetheless, when I do this next, I will do W2E. Actually, I'd like to do both, E2W then back again. I met a couple who were doing that and initially I thought they were nuts but by the time I got to Redbank, I would have happily turned around and done it again.
There's a 64 yr old man missing on the Larapinta Trail, near Alice Springs, that's making National headlines around the country. Glad it's not you, and hope you come across him alive n well on your journey! Take care!
Yes, it’s very concerning to read about that. I must have crossed paths with him as I finished and he started. I hope he is safe and my thoughts are with his family who must be very concerned about him.

I think this is the first video I have seen that has actually really made me want to walk the Larapinta. Absolutely stunning & beautifully captured 😍
Thank you Heather - I had hoped to capture the beauty of the trek.
Thank you so much. Not only for the time and effort but for the great detail!. Really appreciate this
Thank you - it’s a pleasure and I am glad you enjoyed it

Thank you Ana - glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks. Brings up good memories. I walked from Zeil to Alice Springs via Razorback (and Mt. Giles)
That must have been an amazing trip

Thank you Peter. I enjoyed pulling the video together and hope I captured the splendor of this area adequately.
Lovely video, Alex. The scenery is spectacular. I’m glad you had a great trip. Thankyou for sharing it with us
Thank you Sally

I really enjoyed watching your documentary Alex. I am walking the Larapinta in July this year and am soooo looking forward to it.
Thank you. It will be a magical experience I am sure. Enjoy it and I hope the video is helpful. I am now releasing my day by day videos which might have some useful insights and information for you.
What an amazing journey. Great footage of the landscape, animals and skies.
Thanks Jimmy

What was the man reason in your decision to go East to West?
