    Thanks JT. Keep doing these kinds of videos. I often need to watch them several times. They are truly the "bread & butter" content of this channel.

    That’s hilarious. When I was in high school I would “Dan Fouts” back out if I threw to the left. Not sure why I did but it was super funny to watch on film. I’m so glad you pulled that out

    Why am I looking at these plays and picturing Marshall Faulk going in motion lol

    In every route tree I've ever learned, the 5 is an out - why is it different in this system? Do a lot of coaches have different route numbers in their digit systems? I had a completely different play drawn up in my head when I read the title of the video.
    Great, unique content by the way. This channel has been keeping me going during quarantine and I've learned a lot. Gunna swing by that Patreon as soon as my job is back up and running.

      Clayton Gruber I coached with a guy who used the digit system and his 5 was a comeback as well

    • @TheQBSchool
      @TheQBSchool  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not sure. Five was always the comeback in my experiences. The in changed from 4 to depending on different stops but never the comeback.

    • @joshwigen2510
      @joshwigen2510 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Clayton Gruber the route tree we used was: 0. shallow cross 1. Hitch. 2. Slant. 3. Out. 4. Curl. 5 comeback 6. Dig 7. Corner 8. Post 9. Vertical

    • @clay614

      @@joshwigen2510 Gotcha. We had
      1 flat.
      2 slant.
      3 comeback.
      4 curl.
      5 out.
      6 dig.
      7 fade.
      8 post.
      9 go. Basically went by route depth where the first number is an out break second number is the in-break. I think the big difference in trees is where they put the dig/out. Seems the tree I learned in high school used a deeper base route so it ended up being further in the numbers if that makes sense.

      Probably because a comeback gives the receiver a better chance to get separation from the defender than an out. The 4 being an In pattern (aka the Deep Dig or Big Four) makes it easier to attack the middle of the field without (a) making such a sharp turn on the move (Coryell offenses have ALWAYS emphasized hitting the receiver on the move) and not bringing the receiver towards the LOS; and (b) making it easier to sell the 7/8/9 (corner/post/fly) to create a window for the 4.

    No one ran this post better than Marshall Faulk offset in the backfield

    I’m trying to figure out how to get recruited as a WR when we are a power run offense and we only have 5 pass plays so I get maybe 1 target a game

      Play defense. Return kicks. Play RB.

      That’s tough when the advice to get recruited as a wr is to play rb even though it might be the truth

    If the short post isn’t there is the drop 5 rhythm and plant, then flip your hips over to the curl? Or is the second read 1,2,3,4,5(dovetail) and hitch/reset to throw the curl?

    • @TheQBSchool
      @TheQBSchool  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      What?

    • @viciousv81
      @viciousv81 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheQBSchool ok the primary read is the short post route. I understand the timing is a 5 step rhythm drop...bang the short post route.
      My question was pertaining to the second read. When the QB sets his feet to the curl (2nd read) on the other side of the field, does this happen in one complete 5 step and hitch drop or does the QB perform a 5 step plant, then flip his hips without a hitch. Sorry I hope that makes more sense.

  • @dunbarspaceship5384

    When you were talking about doing the old school drop are you staring down the post or looking towards the comeback? Is it more eyes middle of the field that way we're not totally staring down the post, or do we really just stare down the post? Is it a good idea to stare down your under during the drop that way it opens up the post or no just want some clarification there thanks!
