I LOVE this foundation. It is so easy to use and looks gorgeous on the skin. You can keep it sheer or build it up. There are multiple finishes. It quickly became my go to, especially with travel.
Hey Kat, I saw the sale but didn’t know what I would get. Now I know what to try! It looks lovely and I agree about powder foundations they make my face dry and cakey or just no coverage, I usually skip them. But these look great for a quick application and run out of the house.
I wear the Laura Gellar balance and brighten baked foundation and I love it!! Especially during the summer when I want something light feeling. I use a kabuki brush. I put primer and concealer under it and then use setting spray over it.
I have actually been using the Laura Geller illuminating powder in porcelain for about 2 years. It is now too light for me, so I use it like a toned down highlighter and an under-eye powder concealer/brightener. It never lets me down
I've been using this foundation for 10 years, i have combo oily skin. The best combo for me has been a tinted BB or SPF under and then i buff in the foundation with a kabuki. So fast and it stays and looks great 13+ hours

@@KitschSnitch tropical hues and pink grapefruit are almost the same colour, a beautiful glowy coral/peach/gold colour. And pink buttercream looks like it would be really pink but is actually just a really natural colour that brightens the face- I wear it mostly in spring
I bought the powder foundation years ago and really enjoyed it, and i absolutely love the LG blushes! My favorite shade is pink grapefruit. Her baked blushes are sooooooo nice!
New sub here because I appreciate that you didn’t use a heavy camera filter while doing a foundation review. I’m over 50 and love the brightening one. It doesn’t look so dewy on my old skin 😂 I do use her brush that’s designed for use with her foundations. You convinced me to try the other formula though. I just placed an order before seeing your review. I bought the spackle primer. I wonder if that will help you with longevity. Thank you 😊

With the illuminated powder you look like a beautiful young Elizabeth Taylor. It gives that Marilyn Monroe pinup girl movie star look. The natural product is beautiful on you too.
I recommend trying the Laura Geller Double Take Baked Powder Foundation. It has a bit more coverage but is not full… even though the name says so. I mix both the double take and baked and brighten.
@@KitschSnitch it’s really good. I’ll have to recommend some of the blush and bronze baked colors too… but not all are fantastic. I’ll look at my collection and see what would work best for you. I’m so happy you rediscovered this gem!

The way I mix is that I put a light layer of the double take and then dip into the balance and brighten with a fluffier brush and buff it in. It’s a happy median.

Hi Kat. Nice to see you exploring powder foundation. I've been using powder foundation, various brands for at least the last 15 years or so. My favourite is from Australian brand, Vani T. It is a loose powder but, a little bit goes a long way. I also am using Inika, also an Australian brand, in their pressed powder(less glowy). Also Jane Iredale pressed. These are all great for coverage and longevity.

I think I have 2 or 3 in my drawer at the moment, I just haven’t loved many of the ones I’ve tried (they can look powdery and cakey and wear off patchy). When I do find one I like it tends to get discontinued haha. I have tried Inika and Jane Iredale ones, but I haven’t heard of Vani T before. Thanks for the suggestions 😊
@Kat / kitschsnitch VaniT is my favourite! I just wish it came in a pressed version. I do spray with rosewater or similar to get rid of any cakeyness, as my skin isn't as young as yours. But I love it and it doesn't make me itch or break me out. A very dense brush will give more coverage. I love how these powders cover spots and redness.
I agree with you Kat! I hate being bombarded with email offers multiple times a day. I've done exactly what you recommend with several companies. I really love the look of the Illuminating powder on you! I love a nice healthy glow ❤ Ive stopped using power products because of my dry skin. I use the CT Hollywood flawless filter with some spot concealer. I might have to give this a go. I also purchased the UD Dewy liquid blush the other day. It's very nice, blends in well and you only need a tiny bit. Its pricey but so far so good. Thank you always giving us a fair review!
Haha I also did some late night IG shopping a few weeks ago and I also bought LG. I bought one of the balance and brighten natural finish and one of the full coverage. Still waiting for them to get to me. So excited!
This is my favorite summer foundation. I use the Baked Balance and Glow, which really does glisten. I brush a little on with a fluffy brush, then follow with a tinted sunscreen. Applying a little powder foundation first helps the sunscreen to stick better. Then I follow with a regular application of the powder with a kabuki brush. I love it because I really want a dewy look, but it doesn't melt off my face in the summer. Plus, LG stuff is often on sale.
I remember getting a mini size of the Baked Balance and Brighten foundation powder many years ago and loving it, and actually using it up… You made me go and look up if it is still sold here in Europe and I can’t find it, Feelunique used to stock it but it seems to have stopped… dang it. Ordering from their website, plus shipping and customs, it’s almost 60€ for a foundation (with 30% off!). I’ll sit and hope that some retailer picks the brand back up. For foundations with less coverage that last well on my oily-combo skin, I love Dior Backstage. It does last really well on its own, but if paired with a gripping primer like the Elf or Milk ones and some powder it just basically lasts until I take it off…
My favourite fast foundation was the Pur powder foundation that in Australia I bought from TVSN. I applied it with a real techniques expert face brush. Occasionally it would look powdery but a spray of Mac Fix+ solves that. It looks better the longer it’s on the skin. It’s great but I haven’t bought it in a while so hopefully it hasn’t had a reformulation.
I've been able to get the Laura Geller baked products on Amazon, most recently on Prime Day. Luckily, I don't get email from them. The products do look lovely on my face, but I find it's easy to over apply and get a made-up look that I'm trying to avoid. Their bronzer is nice and it comes in light, medium and dark shades and the lighterst is very neutral, which is good on my skin.

I totally agree about the emails, it's ridiculous. You look at a product & get an email straight away saying 'We saw you looking at this product ' it's infuriating!
I had a coworker in her sixties who smoked a lot, and she wore Balance n Brighten. It didn't look like makeup, just healthy skin. It's still too shiny for me now, but when I reach her age I'm going to try it. It's an extra step, but for longevity I use a skin tint under my powder foundation. Otherwise they are very handy for touch-ups.
You always convince me to buy things LOL. I just bought some of the non-glowy powder foundation from Laura Geller - they had a "sale" of 44% off today when I purchased. The "sale" was only for 15 mins - but of course when the 15 min timer elapsed - the "sale" didnt finish - it just came up "extended". :Eyeroll: Their website is very irritating with constant "talk to our consultant" boxes and "surveys". I did use an email I rarely check so I wouldn't be irritated by their spam.

I always loved Laura Geller blushes, they used to be available at Ulta Beauty here in the US but I believe their parent company filed for bankruptcy a few years ago and they were pulled shortly after. However, Laura Geller has been consistently sold on US home shopping channel, QVC, for a number of years. I have had the same experience with their online store… not a fan of their spammy emails, either.
I think after you put the powder on, even at the end of the day, it just looked like blush. I would like to use the 1st one as a base and the 2nd one as a highlighter.
Totally agree with you on the balance and brighten. Faded after about four hours but that's ok. The balance and glow awful but so was the CT filter, I just don't like that glow. Looks false on me and made me look like a slime ball 😮
On my skin the backstage powder no powder makes for a great everyday powder foundation , Also baled and not matte. I now have the dior forever one , looks good also but I haven't tested it extensively i've mostly use it for touchups
Have you tried chantecaille future skin? After trying 1000s of foundations this is 100% the best. Im oily and it works fine even without setting it. Get a sample from mecca its exxy but sooo worth it. Also the new chanel water tint is good too
To cover your red areas, dark spots, etc try putting powder on the brush and press the powder onto those areas. I hardly even bother with concealer anymore.
Did yours have a clear plastic over the powder? I ordered and mine didn't so wondered about it. Then my was so scuffed and scratched badly. They are replacing but I just wanted to see. It almost looked like a brush had swirled in it too. I'd love to know if that's how they are.

I dont know what I'm doing wrong, but it looks really drying on my skin. I have dry to combination skin, however I do prep my skin with my Moisturiser and skin care. It's still not great for my skin.
That marketing sounds so unprofessional 😅 did you choose the blush that looks most like stereo rose? 😁 I will definitely look into the foundation now, I've never tried LG but also heard good things about the baked products!
Have you tried BareMinerals base products? Laura Gellar sucks (in my opinion) they look super powdery on the skin and if you have any lines or blemishes, it's like having a neon sign pointing at them. BareMinerals has several products you might like. The original powder foundation matte version. The Complexion Rescue in the original or matte formula is beautiful and might be exactly what you're looking for. Finally, Barepro powder foundation comes in tons of shades and it's an excellent product. These are all excellent and look like skin but I really think Complexion Rescue could be a game changer for you! Best of luck! 😚💜🤟🏻
Unfortunately the bare pro power was horrible on my skin. Probably the worst powder foundation I have ever tried (horrible undertones - made me look grey, applied heavy and super patchy, and got oily fast!) their blemish rescue version was really nice but they’ve annoyingly discontinued it. I did buy a couple when they were being discounted, but I haven’t opened them yet. They have more coverage than this one, but on a no makeup day I prefer the look and ease of LG… but for more coverage, I’d definitely reach for the BM blemish rescue powder (I’ll never touch the bare pro again 😅) It’s interesting how makeup is so subjective haha
They're better with emails though they still email me close to daily (don't they all?) though I didn't go near insta. Shipping is at $16.00 atm which is good given I'm paying $13.95 for Chemist Warehouse, $25 Officeworks, $14 K-Mart (rural), Mecca and Sephora are taking 2 weeks to even put it in the darn post and Priceline have no customer service, ripped me off $20 and 2 months later still not resolved. Thanks for the vid. Going to take advantage of that 50% off sale and buy "Fair" I should've got it but it looked too dark in the pictures and against my better judgement, ordered Porcelain despite trying it years ago because of Taylor Wynn and finding it way too pink.

Kajal mascara is awesome. I really am enjoying LG products but the emails are too much. Then after you pay for your purchase there are multiple pages that pop up asking you to buy this or that...its just cheap marketing...but maybe it actually works for the company. But great products.
I've started really thinking about why companies do this re charging an unreasonable amount on shipping... and I think I've come to a good conclusion. Refunds requests do not require them to pay back the shipping costs. Just my theory but for me, it's helped me reconcile the exorbitant costs companies charge for shipping
I think $21 shipping to Australia is pretty realistic, I just don’t like paying for shipping 😅 I’ve sent things to the US and it’s cost upwards of $50 for postage. Most brands absorb the cost of shipping and and incorporate it into the cost of their products, but maybe LG prefers not to do that 🤷♀️
I bought the Balance and Brighten Foundation in Light from this and NOPE! Turned yellow and made very single dry patch show on my 50+ skin. Disappointing, because i would love to have a powder foundation work.
i can honestly say that in all my years of trying different foundations this one was the worst i ever used. i dont have much oil on my face apart from a little on the nose but this made my whole face look like a grease ball! cant understand it because her baked bronzer is absolutely superb?? anyway i hate this foundation with a passion i looked a greasy sweaty mess !!

@@KitschSnitch I’ve got Sunlit Rose which is gorgeous; cooler toned pink and I don’t use highlighter as it’s the perfect level of shimmer.
I use the OG B&B to set my makeup every day. I have gone through them over and over. You will love the B&B blushes. They're just glowy and beautiful.

It's an extra step, but for longevity I use a skin tint under my powder foundation. Otherwise they are very handy for touch-ups.
You always convince me to buy things LOL. I just bought some of the non-glowy powder foundation from Laura Geller - they had a "sale" of 44% off today when I purchased. The "sale" was only for 15 mins - but of course when the 15 min timer elapsed - the "sale" didnt finish - it just came up "extended". :Eyeroll: Their website is very irritating with constant "talk to our consultant" boxes and "surveys". I did use an email I rarely check so I wouldn't be irritated by their spam.

As I am a woman of a certain age with dry skin, I find the illuminating foundation makes my skin look younger and fresher.
I always loved Laura Geller blushes, they used to be available at Ulta Beauty here in the US but I believe their parent company filed for bankruptcy a few years ago and they were pulled shortly after. However, Laura Geller has been consistently sold on US home shopping channel, QVC, for a number of years. I have had the same experience with their online store… not a fan of their spammy emails, either.

I think after you put the powder on, even at the end of the day, it just looked like blush. I would like to use the 1st one as a base and the 2nd one as a highlighter.

Totally agree with you on the balance and brighten. Faded after about four hours but that's ok. The balance and glow awful but so was the CT filter, I just don't like that glow. Looks false on me and made me look like a slime ball 😮

On my skin the backstage powder no powder makes for a great everyday powder foundation ,
Also baled and not matte. I now have the dior forever one , looks good also but I haven't tested it extensively i've mostly use it for touchups

Have you tried chantecaille future skin? After trying 1000s of foundations this is 100% the best. Im oily and it works fine even without setting it. Get a sample from mecca its exxy but sooo worth it. Also the new chanel water tint is good too

To cover your red areas, dark spots, etc try putting powder on the brush and press the powder onto those areas. I hardly even bother with concealer anymore.

Did yours have a clear plastic over the powder? I ordered and mine didn't so wondered about it. Then my was so scuffed and scratched badly. They are replacing but I just wanted to see. It almost looked like a brush had swirled in it too. I'd love to know if that's how they are.

I dont know what I'm doing wrong, but it looks really drying on my skin. I have dry to combination skin, however I do prep my skin with my Moisturiser and skin care. It's still not great for my skin.
That’s a shame! I find the higher coverage one does that on me a bit so I understand. I find a fluffier brush makes it look less dry 😊
Using both would be great, using the glowing on as highlighter

Have you tried BareMinerals base products? Laura Gellar sucks (in my opinion) they look super powdery on the skin and if you have any lines or blemishes, it's like having a neon sign pointing at them.
BareMinerals has several products you might like. The original powder foundation matte version. The Complexion Rescue in the original or matte formula is beautiful and might be exactly what you're looking for. Finally, Barepro powder foundation comes in tons of shades and it's an excellent product. These are all excellent and look like skin but I really think Complexion Rescue could be a game changer for you! Best of luck! 😚💜🤟🏻
Unfortunately the bare pro power was horrible on my skin. Probably the worst powder foundation I have ever tried (horrible undertones - made me look grey, applied heavy and super patchy, and got oily fast!) their blemish rescue version was really nice but they’ve annoyingly discontinued it. I did buy a couple when they were being discounted, but I haven’t opened them yet. They have more coverage than this one, but on a no makeup day I prefer the look and ease of LG… but for more coverage, I’d definitely reach for the BM blemish rescue powder (I’ll never touch the bare pro again 😅)

They're better with emails though they still email me close to daily (don't they all?) though I didn't go near insta. Shipping is at $16.00 atm which is good given I'm paying $13.95 for Chemist Warehouse, $25 Officeworks, $14 K-Mart (rural), Mecca and Sephora are taking 2 weeks to even put it in the darn post and Priceline have no customer service, ripped me off $20 and 2 months later still not resolved. Thanks for the vid. Going to take advantage of that 50% off sale and buy "Fair" I should've got it but it looked too dark in the pictures and against my better judgement, ordered Porcelain despite trying it years ago because of Taylor Wynn and finding it way too pink.
I always forget how super pink yet greige toned Taylor is. She's cost me a bunch of cash lol. I'm rusty on my "Taylor to me" shade translation. Been a few years w/out buying makeup.

Kajal mascara is awesome. I really am enjoying LG products but the emails are too much. Then after you pay for your purchase there are multiple pages that pop up asking you to buy this or that...its just cheap marketing...but maybe it actually works for the company. But great products.
I much prefer the natural finish. It looks like your skin without the makeup look.
I've started really thinking about why companies do this re charging an unreasonable amount on shipping... and I think I've come to a good conclusion. Refunds requests do not require them to pay back the shipping costs.
Just my theory but for me, it's helped me reconcile the exorbitant costs companies charge for shipping
I think $21 shipping to Australia is pretty realistic, I just don’t like paying for shipping 😅
I’ve sent things to the US and it’s cost upwards of $50 for postage. Most brands absorb the cost of shipping and and incorporate it into the cost of their products, but maybe LG prefers not to do that 🤷♀️
Judging from your end result this makeup doesn't cover heavy discolorations, moles, or blemishes. I'm sticking to dermablend for that.
It is definitely not intended to cover to that level. It is a lighter coverage/natural powder foundation

I bought the Balance and Brighten Foundation in Light from this and NOPE! Turned yellow and made very single dry patch show on my 50+ skin. Disappointing, because i would love to have a powder foundation work.
i can honestly say that in all my years of trying different foundations this one was the worst i ever used. i dont have much oil on my face apart from a little on the nose but this made my whole face look like a grease ball! cant understand it because her baked bronzer is absolutely superb?? anyway i hate this foundation with a passion i looked a greasy sweaty mess !!

It makes your face look shiny and greasy and oily like it needs a good powdering. I don’t like it.
