As I like to say---looks good enuf for who it's for. I bag my grass and leaf clippings when I mow and mulch my berries as needed. Darn moles sure do seem to like it.
Man, I know you are going to be happy with the results this summer. No more primocanes getting caught under the weedmat. Live and learn right? It turned out looking great too.
Thanks! I checked them out yesterday and it looks like there’s some grass popping up from the straw. 🤦♂️ Appreciate any feedback on how to handle it. Thinking I may just add some pine needles or mulch on top.
Wetting it down helps a ton. We do the same when mulching a new bed for landscaping or other plants. Newspaper wet it down then pine needles wet down. As long as the mulch is thick enough and initially wet down well we don’t have any major issues.

Yeah I would pull the grass that you can and put pine or mulch on top! Thats me though.
