    Great video! I have 3/4” poly tubing on a timer for my garden and 1/4” soaker tubing on my strawberries. Using drippers like you did, plus the diameter of pipe, pressure is not an issue. Soaker hose on the other hand really needs to be on a closed loop system because the pressure never gets to the end the same way as the top otherwise. Two things you might change in the future: 1) those slip unions are not meant to be permanent ;2) above ground plumbing like that, you should consider schedule 80 grey pipe instead of 40. It is designed to withstand uv exposure.

    • @DeanFamilyAcres
      @DeanFamilyAcres 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Great tips. - Union was intentional as it is seasonal and will be removed for winter. - I may paint the PVC to prevent any damage, in general it'll last a very long time. - Hoping to modify the soaker hose portion one day, for now we're just glad to have the blueberries fully irrigated.

    I plan to move in Fall 2026. How do I find affordable acreage?

    • @DeanFamilyAcres
      @DeanFamilyAcres หลายเดือนก่อน

      Location impacts affordability greatly. Especially if you’re looking for acreage. Property in most of the state has increased greatly with the influx of new residents from traditionally higher cost of living areas over the last 3-4 years. There are a few opportunities, but they’re usually word of mouth, a FSBO sign or similar. If a realtor gets ahold of it it’s usually going to end up at a premium.

    I bought some blueberries from the big blue store and they are doing alright.

      We've found potted to do well as long as you amend your soil properly. The boxed bare root ones at TSC, etc not so much, spend the $ to get a potted plant or order from a dedicated nursery.

    I spotted the stunt double a few times haha. I really liked the Pink Lemonade. I think that shirt at the beginning was affecting your taste a little too haha. Were you able to put in up in the freezer this year? My best-tasting berries were the ones that I did not know the variety.

      We put a few gallons of blackberries up. Between deer and birds they are putting a damper on our crops. You'd think with the amount we have it wouldn't be an issues.

      @@DeanFamilyAcres Yeah I thought you have a ton with you having so many. Maybe once they get taller. My neighbor I got mine from this year had tons on hers with only three bushes, but hers were really tall and full. I wasn’t wanting mine that tall but I may have too to fight those birds. I hate to mess with netting.

    My Navaho blackberries didn't taste sweet as expected. My pink lemonade blueberry has not fruited because the last frost always mess up the flowers.

      It’s always a dance with frost. That’s one reason we’ve tried to expand our varieties. Be sure the blackberries are fully ripe, hard challenge when you have birds to compete for them.

    I've got about 20 varieties of blueberries, and honestly most of them have disappointed me in flavor. But two are standouts: Darrow and Razz - they are crazy tasting! Honorable mention goes to pink lemonade, it has a unique almost tropical taste to me. I've also got about 50 varieties of blackberries and raspberries going, to figure out which ones I want to grow forever. I noticed you mentioned that Sweetie Pie is very good, I look forward to trying mine next year! Also, after tasting my PAF's I just gave them away 😂

      Sounds like you have a really nice collection. What zone are you? With blackberries I think irrigation and timing makes a difference in taste. It’s a fine line vs them not producing well.
