    About time we reviewed some RC construction equipment and here is our first. We were really impressed by this excavator. It is quite challenging to drive but after a little practice you begin to remember what the stick movements and buttons do and start coordinating the movements of the articulated arm and platform to achieve some efficient digging just like the full size equivalent.
    The combination of metal and tough plastic make this quite a durable vehicle. You will hear the mechanism clicking when the operator tries to move the articulation past its designed limit of travel. This is intentional and protects the components and electronics from getting damaged. No harm in doing it but it detracts from the scale operation and is best avoided so you look like a certified driver !

    Actually the clicking means 1 of 2 things. 1. Like you said you hit the hard stop on travel, so the gears slip. 2. You have exceeded the maximum torque of the gears, so they slip. The majority of the clicking in your video is because of reason #2. That being said, it seems to do alright in that peat mix you have there compared with the the cheaper excavator without a metal bucket. I would expect it would be impossible to break packed soil and may even struggle a bit in slightly compacted sand from moisture.

      Agree. It will only dig very loose material.

  • @docfcybo
    @docfcybo 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Hello there, thanks for your nice review.
    However, 2 main things need to be pointed out.
    1st, the model scale. Based on cab and operator seat dimensions, as well as on overall dimensuons compared with the closest real thing (VolvoEC 950), this toy/model turns out to be in a real 1/23 to 1/28 scale. So an average 1/24 scale could be considered, certainly not the declared 1/14, not at all.
    Then the number of channels. It has 6 on/off operational channels (bucket, lever, boom, turret, left track, right track) and 2 additional channels (sound on/off, cab led n/off) for a total of 8 channels.
    What the other 14 declared channels should be... nobody knows, lol.
    Totally worth its price anyway, I got mine for 101 euros at my door. Soon I'll be fixing some loose articulation abd buying 6 cheap ESCs to convert this to real proportional RC.

    In case someone is interested in upgrading the stock battery, the safe hole measurements are 88mm (L) x 53mm (W) x 26mm (H).
    The height is 36mm to the cover, but the exhaust screw protrudes inward 10mm. So, you can get a 36mm high battery and remove the exhaust, or get a 26mm battery and leave it untouched.

    Was thinking of getting one of these for my dad, but this thing looks pretty weak as far as it's ability to dig... That soil looked pretty soft and turned up, and the clicking seems to be more from the gears skipping while trying to exceed the digging force...

    • @EssentialRC
      @EssentialRC  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Get what you pay for I think. The clicking is the mechanism that protects the motors from being overloaded. If you want something that digs dense dirt then it would need to be heavier anyway. It's a toy meant for simulation, not serious excavating. I've been to shows in Germany where there are large excavators operating and they use loose soil.

    • @D0csavage1
      @D0csavage1 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have operated 360° tracked excavators as well as 180° backactors, mainly JCB and Caterpillar. The control levers on these are much like a car accelerator, touch them slightly the bucket for example moves slowly, move the lever quickly the bucket will move quickly.
      I tried a cheap RC excavator with the levers only acting like switches nothing like the real thing and lost interest. I imagine the more costly hydraulic versions will be closer to the real excavators with the hydraulics allowing for detailed work like compacting the sides of trenches to prevent collapse or grading work, or precision soil removal, a proper hobby. 👍

  • @LiveSteamMad
    @LiveSteamMad 4 ปีที่แล้ว

  • @TF856
    @TF856 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    The clicking you hear are the plastic gears that are slipping and if that continues very much it will strip out those plastic gears.
    The better more expensive ones are all metal with real hydraulics on them, not fake!

    • @P_double_H
      @P_double_H 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Its mostly plastic with rubber tracks and metal bucket. Unless you let it fall from somewhere I dont think it will break. The mechanism has ratchet gears, so when the dirt is hard the gear just skips a teeth and wont strip them. Its a very durable excavator overall.

      @@EssentialRC Thanks for your answer, when i was a kid 80's, i had a Schuco rc truck, that thing could drive variable speed, even these day's rc (toy) trucks can't do that, so i was wondering, why it's difficult to pwm instead on or off, but this is a nice machine, i don't want to be negative. the price is also very good. Have a nice day.

      Specifically? A little loose maybe. I thought it worked quite well. I'll take a closer look at that though in the next vid.

    It is not HUINA, it is HUEVINA)))
    In Russian, "Huina" is very useless thing on not literally language.
    "Huevina" is useful thing in same dictionary.
    Anyway, nice machine

    Toy grade machine, certainly not a quality hobby grade machine, but what do you expect for $125.00, right!

      Hmmm. Don't agree with that. It's an economy version of the all metal Huina. Good for folks who don't want to splash out the cash for that.

    I'm not impressed with this one at all. I think the WLToys 16800 is a lot nicer. Both in looks and function. It doesn't make the grinding gear noise when full extended either. And you can barely hear the motor sounds over the loud whine of the electric motors. No thanks.

    • @EssentialRC
      @EssentialRC  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not the most intelligent comparison. The WLToys 16800 is £168. The Huina 1592 is £90. Nearly half the price. Why not compare products of similar price?! 🙄
